MKT Idle Problem

Recommended Posts

Ford replaced the upper O2 sensor and now the idle is 1200-2000 rpm on starting cold and 1000 rpm on warm start.

Also when I start off soon after starting sometimes on pulling off and letting off in city traffic the idle hangs at 2000 rpm.

That's a thrilling moment.

Anyone have any ideas of the cause or experienced to problem?

Thanks

Check engine lamp on? There may very well be an issue with the throttle body, or maybe a vacuum hose off causing the high idle. If a visual check doesn't show something off, the next step involves a scan tool and watching data to see what is out of whack. IDS has a throttle body check utility that can verify the throttle body operation.

Took the MKT in for an oil change and checking the idling issue.

Dealer claims the 1200rpm at start in Southern Cal (70 degrees always) is normal. 900 rpm on hot start is normal.

Would anyone with a MKT 2012 please respond with your experience on cold (70 degrees) and hot engine start rpm and for how long if above 60rpm.

Any tech input would be great.

Thanks!
