digijay
My 2013 Titanium 2.0L Ecoboost has stalled out on me three times in the last few weeks and it's had an intermittent rough idle since new. Has anyone else experienced this?I'm at 69,000kms. Different gas each time, different speeds (20km/h, 30km/h, 50 km/h). Nothing consistant other than each time was under 50 km/h Dealer seems to be as confused as I am.
ticobird
That's a bummer. When a problem manifests itself like you describe about all you can do is keep scrupulous notes about everything - date, time, speed, time running, turning, stopping, weather conditions, time to restart, sound observations (any sound that's different), accessory operation, night or day. There's probably more observation criteria if I thought about it some more. It seems to me that the "intermittent rough idle since new" should be a very good diagnostic clue. Does this rough idle include both neutral and in gear when stopped? What is your level of confidence in your dealer's abilities? I ask because I have a lot of confidence in my local Ford dealer (Woody Anderson). Has your dealer pulled any codes from the engine management computer? Whatever happens please keep this forum up to date.
Mknopick
I had this happen to my 2013 SEL. The amber check engine light came on also. The dealer performed TSB#14-0034 - replaced the TCBP sensor (Turbo Charger Back Pressure Sensor). Problem seems to be solved for now,
blockisle9
A recall just came out that sounds like it might address this. Apparently, no parts or repair information till late September Check your vin on fords website to see if you are included. schield
I had the problems as described in ID 14S17 back in November. I had my vehicle in the dealer a total of four times. The only way they were able to get the issue to go away was by replacing the entire engine wiring harness. The fix now is likely less drastic, but my dealer was desperate. It threw all kinds of codes, engine surging on the highway, no torque when getting on the throttle, and engine stalling. Since having this fixed I have had no problems with the vehicle. boudhaquebec
Same here about 3 months ago. . They also changed the wiring harness. It's been fine since.
Laramie Joe
I recently started experiencing a rough idle (have 75,000 miles on vehicle) on my 2013 Escape 2.0L, both in park and in drive. I also have an engine vibration at about 2200 RPM when under load or not, also when in neutral and holding engine RPM at about 2200. Sometimes, after driving for a half hour or more, I put car into park while stuck in traffic or waiting for a train, and the car stalls when I put it back into drive. Only way to get it to go is to give it some gas prior to putting into park. Also, sometimes when I start the vehicle (hot or cold) the idle RPM seems very low at first and then goes to normal RPM after 30 seconds (or so). I replaced the trans fluid 4 times in one afternoon to get rid of all the old fluid in the system, replaced all 3 engine / trans mounts, and I took it to the dealer where they had it 3 days, charged me $200 and found nothing. I also replaced the air filter, spark plugs and the coolant temp sensor, and cleaned the throttle body and mass airflow sensor / map sensor. I verified the engine harness splice issue (worn wiring insulation) is not present, and I can't find any vacuum leaks. The trans fluid change seemed to make a slight decrease in the stalling issue I had when going from 'park to drive', but nothing else has helped. The low idle RPM / stalling issue would seem to be a computer or air idle stepper issue, but I don't believe that would cause a vibration at 2200 unless the computer is cutting fuel / spark to one cylinder for some reason. Otherwise I don't see it as being a fuel, electrical or air related issue. To me it would seem to be more of a mechanical issue, perhaps the vibration damper outer ring has rotated slightly on the rubber or the torque converter lost a balancing weight or... FYI - this issue seemed to start after I was pulling a trailer uphill at highway speed and I got a notification that my engine was overheating. The display said it was decreasing performance due to overheating and the engine definitely put out less power. The temp gauge confirmed the coolant was hot but then within 10 seconds the temp gauge was back in the normal range and the power was also back to normal. I'm plain out of ideas on what it may be and what to do next to diagnose for this issue.
