deadman64
My driver's side door hinge is looking very rusted on my early '13 fusion (I live in the South too). See attached picture. My other doors are either good or have very minor rusting. I'm assuming it's because the driver door is exposed much more often to the elements. My friend showed me his 2008 Subaru hinge (he lives in the north) and its flawless...does ford not coat these parts? What can I do to take care of this? Coat it with White Lithium Grease? Any advice is appreciated, thanks. Edited July 28, 2015 by deadman64
fuzzymoomoo
That's not the hinge, that's the check strap. Mine on my focus have looked like that for years and have had no issues. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it would make you feel better, grease it with something water resistant, as that part comes from the factory with a water resistant grease pre applied. I should know, I spent 2 years installing them in focus doors at Michigan Assembly.
hybridbear
I'll keep an eye on this for our cars. I use White Lithium Grease on the moving parts regularly.
expresspotato
There's a reason people keep buying japense cars... This is probably one of them.
