fuzzymoomoo
Hmmmm, F150 Diesel, if true this could get very interesting. Oh it's true. It was announced when the 2018 MCE was unveiled.
jpd80
I have a good feeling that the V6 Powerstroke F150 will be a lot more popular than the Ram Ecodiesel..

For starters it definitely will be related to handle a load larger than a family of
tbone
The Ram diesel seems to have been a bit of a gimmick to me since it has such limited capability. The new Ford diesel appears to be capable of doing work. Any chance we see this diesel in the F250?

The new Ford diesel appears to be capable of doing work. Any chance we see this diesel in the F250? Ram's problem is that the 1500 is just too heavy to make best use of the 3.0 Ecodiesel Similarly, Super Duty is around 1,500 lbs heavier than F150, so the 3.0 Powerstroke would be very limited, it's bigger brother, the 4.4 V8 Lion would be a good match for SD buyers wanting an uber-efficient diesel option F250 with 6.7 and 4.4 diesels would be a great 1, 2 engine line up for ROW Edited October 9, 2017 by jpd80
RPF
I'm impressed with the guys going up IKE Gauntlet. The F250 is a heavier truck towing 2,500 lbs more but 6.7 got roughly 20% better fuel economy than the lighter Ecoboost F150 and absolutely walked all over the 6.2 V8 for power and economy Let's put that in perspective, The 6.2 smoked the competition in that test, it was 1:27 faster than a 6.0L Chevy and 4:27 faster than a 6.4L Ram. The Ford had 3.73 gears and the others 4.10 gears. The 3.5GTDI can't handle the duty cycle of a 3/4+ ton truck. The GCW difference is much greater than the trailer weight difference anyway, given it had to haul around a heavier truck plus 2500lb of water tote in the bed.
jpd80
Bottom line was that under near maximum towing conditions, the 6.7 F250 is a superior machine The diesel gets much better fuel economy than Ford's F150 and SD gasoline trucks, .none of them get close even with lighter weights. Circling back to the Consumer world assertion that fuel economy figures should be revealed, it then becomes a question of whether those figures are an accurate guide for SD owners.
