CSMJ
Ford has stopped the Cleveland casting plants construction! Ironically the same day the new CEO took office. We were told Ford is putting it on a 2 week hold until they can figure a way to get it back on budget. If they decide to continue building it they will allmost certainly outsource the whole project. If not they will close it within 2 years. If this closes windsor and Romeo will not be far behind. For those who believe the Wizard he said Ford was looking at Engine Plants in Canada. Brazil will cast and Mexico will assemble, this could happen and if it does it's B.S., we should strike nationally. Also Engine Plant #2 could close and be consolidated with Plant#1 and Lima. Plant 2,plant 1 and Lima will be half empty when the 3.0L Vulcan is cancelled. Meaning Brookpark workers will transfer to Lima, when Lorain went to Avon the lowest seniority at Avon got bumped. Brookpark has 2000 production and 1050 can retire, also 900 have 92 or less, alot of 94's. What seniority does Lima have does anyone have a clue????? later

Footballfan
Who's to say they haven't changed their minds on Wixom. I heard a rumor along those lines too- that Wixom would be retooled to build the next gen Focus and Wayne Assembly would close in its place, but I think that it was you that said it's going to Mexico? kcsuperduty
Well if that is true that means Herm (Mexico) will be closing and one of the plants will get the fusion. Kcap maybe on the chopping block we have not recieved the new work standards to vote on maybe that is a reason the decisions have already been made. There are many other ways to make good money other than manufacturing. When they (Billy and company) take my job, they take my loyalty. I will buy American, most likely GM. But as for Ford :kissass: Edited September 13, 2006 by backtoschool

CSMJ
I was wrong were not closing! Today there were alot of outside contractors in the building, I was told by someone who sat in the meeting discussing the project that they will outsource a majority of the construction work to bring the cupalos online ontime in April. I was also told in May they will retool the coreroom to produce the 6.2L and 2 Diesel blocks, a V6 and V8. The V6 is a hybrid it was at the autoshow last year in the Ford Reflux, it looks like the old Probe GT. This car with this engine gets 65 MPG. Plant 2 will move production to plant 1 and Lima and retool for these 2 motors! later

CSMJ
Those diesels better be assembled here in Windsor dammit. Not gonna happen In our healthcare concession /giveback it states that Ford will spend $900 million on alternative fuel engine and assemble them in the U.S. / in other words $900 mill on Hybrid technology Their either gonna assemble them at Cleveland,Lima or Romeo and if their cast at Cleveland why wouldn't they stay in Cleve. to get assembled?? Footballfan
Romeo will probably get the diesel engine. There was a provision in the tax break package negotiated between Ford and the state of Michigan for a new "heavy duty" engine at Romeo.
