akirby
Somewhere else estimated a 8 second quarter mile at 150 mph. This is the GT500 engine. Strange that they announced it before announcing the GT500.
silvrsvt
This is the GT500 engine. Strange that they announced it before announcing the GT500. They "announced" The GT500 already, just didn't give details of the engine. Maybe getting something else
akirby
The only other choice is the 7.0L (NA) but that won’t come anywhere near this type of power.
akirby
And no there was no supercharged 7.0L on the engine list.
blksn8k2
Even though the Cobra Jet drag car and GT500 may share a 5.2L supercharged engine I seriously doubt they will be all that similar. For example, the race car is not likely to use the same fuel injection system as the street car and will probably use beefier internals. Chances are it won't even use the same engine block and if it does it may use steel liners instead of a spray bore block. I would also expect the race engine to use a different supercharger. akirby
My point wasn’t that it’s the same engine - it’s that this is the first public acknowledgement that Ford is building a 5.2L supercharged engine. So unless the GT500 is using something different (doubtful at this point unless they were hiding something on the engine oil chart) I just find it odd they wouldn’t have waited for the GT500 to be announced first.
