Going for boost

Recommended Posts

For several months, I have been researching superchargers for my Mustang GT.    I considered Whipple, Edelbrock and Roush.    With either the Whipple or Edelbrock, I would need a custom tune from a tuning company to make the car run well and to have safe engine parameters.   The Roush has a very good running and safe tune.    Although the Roush uses an excellent and highly respected Eaton blower, they do have a design flaw.   The intercooler is smaller and mounted under the blower instead of on top.    That can lead to heat soak at the drag strip.

The Roush would provide me with a year of powertrain warranty which the others would not have.    Roush recently introduced their phase 2 kit for 2018+ models with 750 crank HP and 670 lbs/ft of torque.   So far, customer feedback and dyno results look  very good.   It is still not the best design but they upgraded the heat exchanger and tuned the fans to run more.   I like the affiliation with Ford, too, so I ordered the Roush kit.    I am having a Senior Master Ford tech install it.

I assume you ordered the stage 2 then? On my 18, I am considering Whipple, Edelbrock, and Procharger. Procharger seems more streetable.

Yes, stage 2.   I changed my mind at least a dozen times over the past few months.   I am not sure there is a BAD choice.   It really depends on the end goals.
