bzcat
Never really made sense for Nissan to be in the van business in the US since they didn't have the right products. NV200 was and still is a JDM curiosity... too narrow and not enough GVWR to work in the US. The poor rides that taxi drives complain about is due to the tiny tires because when it was designed by Nissan a decade ago, it was never envisions that it will be sold outside Japan. The fullsize NV "vans" were so off the mark that despite having V8 power and body on frame, it can't get any serious fleet buyers to bite. Nissan's lack of fleet sales experience with commercial vehicles also didn't help. They really had no idea what the customers wanted. Didn't they bring in a Ford guy that was supposed to help with that? I haven't been to NYC in awhile...what are they using for Taxis now? Not sure about a Ford guy, but Ralph Diaz left FCA (Ram) to run Nissan trucks a few years back.

Thank you mackinaw sir, that's actually Fred Diaz. He's a graduate of Texas Lutheran University.

There are still some NV200 but no one likes them. Ford sued to overturn the NV200 "taxi of tomorrow" exclusive contract but at the end, Toyota is the one that took the business away from Ford (and Nissan).
