Barcuss
MY mother has a 16 Escape Ecoboost that has just stared a puff of smoke when the car is first started up, it goes away after just a couple of seconds. It comes out of both tail pipes. Following behind her it does not smoke at all while driving. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I believe it is the 1.6 Ecoboost
akirby
Could be normal especially in humid areas. Check the coolant level. If it’s low have the dealer check the compression. It may be covered by an extended warranty. If level is full and no other issues it’s probably ok.
Barcuss
First off, GO DAWGS.... She just started it for me to see again and its kinda like blue smoke coming out of the tail pipes but only for a few seconds. Engine sounds normal and the vehicle drives normal.
92merc
It could be the coolant intrusion issue. Have your dealer check it. If it is that, the block cracked and coolant is getting into the cylinders.

Might be a ring problem.
silvrsvt
White smoke out of DI turbo charged engines is “normal” when it is cold out.
