fllcobra
Why should anyone be surprised? Has anyone seen the competition lately? This spring, Saturn is going to introduce the new Vue, GM is introducing the its new CUVs and Honda is already selling every CRV that it rolls off its trucks. Ford is really wading into some fierce waters. I can only hope the Edge is worth the delay.

BORG
Ford has a lot more shrinking to do before it hits bottom. A healthy Ford needs to be a VERY small Ford. Ford can't buy market share anymore, their products have to make money.
Motownr
Don't forget the Fleet Factor....CG has expanded their sales to daily rentals dramatically while Ford and GM have tried to scale back.
ANTAUS
This was to be expected...with Taurus sales (around 186K) for the year, losing that many units will definately make such an impact. Most importantly, is if Ford is expecting to recoupe those 186-200K unit sales with something else. And realistically, don't expect the Edge to make up the lost amount. Calculate the lost sales of phasing out the Taurus/Sable/Freestar/Monterey, then ask yourselves, how many vehicles will need to be introduced to make up that total. Realistically, what counts is that vehicles debuting will allow Ford to make a profit, increase quality, improve depreciation. But at the end of the day, don't fool yourselves into thinking the Edge, MKX, Fairlane, Lincoln Fairlane, will make up the difference. IN fact, it might take Ford 6-7 different vehicles to make up the loss of 4. Then ask yourselves, where are those 6-7 (new nameplate vehicles). And if you don't have an answer, then it lets you know that Ford will continue to lose market share.
Roadrunner
Don't forget the Fleet Factor....CG has expanded their sales to daily rentals dramatically while Ford and GM have tried to scale back. Ah, I didn't consider that.
Joe771476
As long as Ford builds engines with spark plugs that blow out, drops models that "only" sell 50K units a year, and refuses to update tired models then Ford will lose marketshare. Wake up Ford! I want to see you succed! Do you?!
