skittet150
I have a 2004 FX4 Supercrew with the 5.4, when it is wet out the belt really squeals until the engine is warmed up. I only have 27,000 miles on it. Is this something that needs to be looked at, or pretty common. Talked to another guy at work who has one, says his does the same. J-150
a modern engine with tensioners should not be squealing.
kenp77
a modern engine with tensioners should not be squealing. They do and it is not really a squeal is more of a rubber to metal squeak just from high humidity until it gets warm.
Stone Cold
I would put on Goodyear Gatorback belt.It is a very quiet belt and of better overall quality than the stock belt.I had a similar problem with my 1998 F150 several years ago.Somedody on a Ford enthusiast website suggested I try a Goodyear Gatorback drive belt.I did and what a difference.I have Goodyear belts on all my vehicles.Good luck! cheri/ck
I have had the same problem with factory belts. Once the dealer replaced them, the problem went away. Might consider having a good mechanic replace the belt and get things properly tensioned.

It is garaged though.Only problem I had was when it had 500 miles on it, it would die at a stop light. Had the pcm recalibrated, since then it runs like hell, will smoke the tires. I do have a slight vibration at 80 and 60 mph when you let off the gas, told its the drive shaft. It's a supercrew. Other than that best truck I ever had.
