Right, but you can be seen operating the cell phone and a cop can take that as you getting ready to talk on it without a hands-free device. As for directions, much rather see where i'm going then listen to something to tell me turn at the last minute or even take me the wrong way.

In the past two days, I've seen a brand new Transit Connect with a NJ Commercial tags on in and this morning I saw a brand new 2010 Taurus at the local Wawa that I hit for coffee every morning going into work. If you don't know what Wawa is (and your not from the Central Atlantic area (PA,NJ,MD,DE,VA) your totally missing out....they have great prices on gas at the Super Wawas, a great sandwich/deli area, and really good coffee (esp the Kona brand when they have it!) http://www.wawa.com/WawaWeb/ Anyways, the TC looks alot better in person....its kinda funky looking in a good way. The Taurus I saw today was the second one I saw, it was either black or really dark blue and looked better then the cream colored one I saw in WI last month. I was wondering if it was SHO, but no luck, if where, I'd would have gone over and asked them how they liked it.

The nav system is only $1695, plus you get Sirius Travel link with it (for 6 months) Also, keep in mind that its illegal in most states to be using Cell phone while driving, and well to be quite frank, the GPS systems on them SUCK and they are impossible to see and dangerous to use while driving. I've used my iPhone a couple times when I needed to search for a place to eat and it winded up taking me 40 minutes away from the actual restaurant I wanted to go to! Not to mention my State wants to ban the use of GPS systems that require interaction by touch or something, which is going be just about impossible to enforce! Plus the LCD display looks a hell of a lot nicer then the radio in the car and serves as the backup screen for the rear camera.

Tell that to all the Toyota and Honda owners out there :rolleyes:

From what I understand, the front end from the firewall forward is straight out of the C170 Focus and the rest is different.

IIRC, my Focus had steel on the back of the seats too...or it was plastic.

When the hell does an owners manual have 500 pages in it? Do they have every single language in it? Not to mention its going to be a pain in the ass to figure out how to do things sitting on your computer, NOT in your car as a reference...even with a Laptop, which is a pain in the butt to use when its sunny out.

I wonder what the deal is...the Parents Sable with the 3.5L doesn't have that issue.

Very nicely written article, but to be honest (and not a be a total fanboy here) why are they comparing the two? its almost as stupid as comparing the Taurus SHO to mid-sized Luxury sedans, just because they cost almost the same. The MKT is an interesting product, but we'll see how it does

I never said that, if I get GT500, I can use it on the road (accelerating on to the highway etc)...if I get a Raptor, I have to use it off the pavement to get proper use of it. Driving on asphalt or driving over curbs doesn't constitute "off roading"

IMO your a poseur then! I love the Raptor but if I'm not gonna take it off-roading, isn't that the whole point? Personally I don't want to wreck my 45K truck anyways if I had one..

Not gonna happen either... If they where smart, they should shut down all of Chrysler and turn their dealerships into Fiat dealerships..

Does the front seats fold flat like on the previous gen Taurus?

I was looking at the photos, and the front seats are right up against the folded down seats...is that because they are all the way to the back or is because they take up all the room? I remember on my focus that the rear seat cushions folded up and the seat-backs folded down into where the seat cushions where and it ate up alot of the room behind the drivers seat to the point I had to move it up an inch or two lower the seats and I had the drivers seat all the way back because I'm tall.

Just goes to show you how different automotive tastes are in North America vs Europe

I know it was stated a couple months ago that the Taurus was going to get another refresh in 2012..much to suprise to many people around here...though it make the timing interesting...when is the new Taurus based on a long CD4 platform going to come out? If anything it could lead to Ford finally figuring out that they can do a RWD fullsized car in 2015. I'm looking at getting a SHO in 2013 or so, so maybe they'll fix the couple minor gripes I have about the car
