  1. after 6-9 months, they will be back to the 'overstock sales' and 0%.
  2. Quote of "The Autoextremist" Peter D. "Ford vs Chevy, who cares anymore? Toyota is cleaning both of them"
  3. Umm, Ford never, ever, said that the D3 cars are 'replacements' for the Panther platform. I see the author drives what looks like a pre 2006 Grand Marq. If all these supposed 'loyal Panther owners' bought brand new ones, then Ford would have a business case. But since most of them buy used cop cars, how can Ford make $$ of of these 'loyal' buyers? And no they do have to make $$, so don't think that they can make some with 400HP for $14,000.
  4. No, Ford responds by making the F-150 a continued success. With a new Tundra coming, for every 10 possible all new Ranger sales, one F-10 will bring in more $$$. GM updated their 'little trucks, and look where they are, and the Dakota is no where. SO bad, that Mitsu is giving up on their Raider after on year! It's like the big 2 door coupe market. Passe' and history
  5. No way is the Taurus a 'full zized car'. Put a fork in them, they are done. Was behind an old man in one who was put putting along at 5 under the limit. They are now the 'old timer going slow' car, that used to be to Oldsmobile Cieras.

    Sales?

Test drove a V6 Fusion, and wanted to take it home. But too poor. Way better than any Taurus I have rented.
  7. Yeah, once they are out awhile and people are 'used to them', then... Just like any new domestic car, 'good old timers' stick with old, until they are 'used to...' Been that way since 70's. The 1977 Caprices turned off the boat owners, then they get 'used to them'. Taurus is a creaky, floaty, boring, unappealing car. Rented many, and never had the desire to own one after a 'test drive'. And yes, test drove a Fusion, and makes the Taurus look like a 1984 Tempo.
  8. I want to see a Ridgeline try to lift a Semi Tractor Truck, and get crushed by bulldozers to see if the cabin stays taught. C*nt-sumer Reports calls it 'best pickup'? why? Cuz it's a Hodna and what they think buyers should get.
  9. See in the artilce the Taurus listed as a slow seller too? 246 days to sell one at retail? Almost a year! All the "boo hooo, Taurus should never die  " fans should face reality. It's going, going, gonnne! And Ford should make rental firms pay at a nice profit for any replacement cars
  10. You got that right. SVT Focuses sat on dealer lots, while the 'enthusiasts' bought used Focuses to mod themselves. Then, they cry when it got canned. Ford US has the Mustang conv already. A Focus one would not sell, exepct maybe to Biker16. Others expect Ford to 'import' their German and AUS cars, but they would not want to pay for them.
  11. There are tons of internet posts of "I saw X car on tow truck, thus they are all junk" :boring: And many such generalizations are posted by 'Mr B.'
  12. Welcome to 3 days ago, ;-) Of course, know it alls will laugh and blame it on styling, which is all they care about. And of course, they will say that it 'sold in such low numbers', forgetting it was meant as a low volume car. If not for the extra costs to certifiy and to import from AUS, it would still be around.
  13. The Edge [u2 should do ads] is somewhat shorter than the Freestyle, I saw the two next to each other at the Chicago Auto Show. It's like the 'wagon master days', Ford had three sizes of station wagons, Pinto, Torino, LTD. {or in 60's Falcon, Fairlane, Galaxie} And the upcoming Fairlane is essentially a minivan, not a wagon/SUV. So, no it won't crowd the others.
  14. Maybe it got Re-Po'ed. Back up claims with facts, not guesses. "I saw one on a flat baed, therefore these cars must be junk"?? Not enough data, do some more homework.
  15. But also, the Aussie GTO was limited to 18K units a year, so don't cry too much. The air bags regs for 2007, the platform is dead in AUS, and the exchange rate were 3 main reasons. It wasn't that it was supposed to out-sell the Camry and 'save GM'.
  16. People are so ga-ga about the 300, they fail to see what's going on behind the curtains. So many say, "if only Ford had a new RWD big car". But more than one car is needed to bring in new blood.
  17. Welcome to two years ago, when people compared the LaCrosse to the Taurus. The Lucerne doesn't look like the Sable, more like a Lexus. And, the HHR, while not original, is selling. BTW: PT Crusier is not 'dead', at all.
  18. It was a 1988 camry, which is much much smaller than a 2006 one.
  19. Saturn will be like Vauxhall, Opels with different names.
  20. Anyone who thinks Ford simply can import Aussie Falcons to 'save them', see above. Supposedly a new GTO will be shared with the "2010 Camaro" platform. I put in quotes since there is no official word, yet.
  21. Umm, does "never" mean next year? I guess the 2008 re-design is coming 'never' then! :happy feet:
  22. Who said it was a "re-skin"???? The article clearly states 're-design'. And, don't expect "300 HP!" as some think all vehicles must have these days. I am sure it will have some similar shapes in the body and some will cry, "It doesn't look different enough", even though they are not SUV buyers. More likely the same car gets a Fusion grille.
  23. More of the rich getting richer and anyone else getting poorer. At this point, GM can go bankrupt and I won't care.
  24. "Sarcasm is a 2nd language to me" from 40 y/o Virgin movie.
