  1. Ah got ya. That sucks. Even though I see 1/2tons plowing on occasion, most in these parts are old 1/2tons or vehicles with SFA. Ford isn't looking at installing EPAS on SD's then are they? That's practically all you see as plows in these parts.
  2. What's so different between the 2006 & 2011 that the '2006 was a better plow rig? Is because of the inter-cooler location and the plow blocking airflow?
  3. I'd have to agree with the above. While I'm no fan of the wheel openings of the Terrain as well, the overall style IMO is better than the Escape/Cherokee. The CX-5 is a good option, heard a lot of good things about them from current owners. But my favorite, even though old and a little dated, is the Xterra. May not have the best ride or mpgs of the group, but I prefer the more truck oriented SUV's, both in style and capability.
  4. I'd have to disagree. I can't see Ford dropping the EB3.5 in the Raptor and eliminating the 6.2L. From everything I've seen and read, the 6.2L is a monster and durable. I don't know if the EB3.5 in the conditions the Raptor is more likely to be in than a typical F150, will hold up as well. I can envision a lot of warranty claims. Now I could see the EB3.5 becoming the top end F150 motor, with the exception of the Raptor having the exclusive rights to the 6.2L in the F150 lineup.
  5. Interesting list, that the majority were Toyota/Lexus/Scion products. I wouldn't look at purchasing any of those vehicles except the Wrangler or the Cayenne.
  6. Ultimately, this is the issue and it is getting rapidly worse by the year. The additional safety features are a plus, but the cheapest thing we the people or insurance carriers can do is take/provide some driver training courses. I wish that was the case here. While I admit this does occur from time to time, most frequently I witness drivers fly up that ending lane, simply to force (cut-off) their way in front of the other cars so they don't have to wait in line behind those people who merged appropriately. Evidently they knew about it for years. And I seem to remember things called a "pop quiz" in school. Never knew what you'd be tested on, so you covered every aspect. I know that's not possible to build for every scenario though.
  7. The 6.2L isn't going anywhere, at least at Ford. Still need it for the top end F150 motor or at the very least, as the gas burner alternative to the 6.7L.
  8. Love the rambling and how many here feel they're so much better, think they know the laws or what this country was founded on better simply because they have a different belief or view. Simply walking up to someone with a concealed weapon is not an offense. Following someone and confronting them with the gun in plain site with the intention of intimidating the other individual can be construed as premeditation. Not getting into more bickering over who's right or wrong. Cause you know what, I could be wrong, but you may end up being wrong. You just never know. Funny how yesterday was Independence Day, which gives me and you the freedom to think for ourselves. And like I stated in a previous post, no matter how much you attempt to talk down to me, you will not change my opinion. Only the verdict can or will change that. Thanks for playing though!
  9. Just as I'm glad that many posters in this thread, yourself included are not on the jury. Yes, the decision of Zimmerman following and making contact with Martin should play a part in the verdict. The altercation simply would not have occurred had Zimmerman followed instructions. Sure Zimmerman couldn't have foreseen the outcome, which is why it's not 1st degree murder charges. Similar to drinking and driving. People who drink and drive don't intentionally kill people, but they can and do, and should be held accountable for their actions and decisions, just like Zimmerman. Any man in their right mind and thinking logically would know following any individual at night with a gun and with a predetermined mindset that this individual was up to no good regardless of color, would not end well. Martin having a head start and being faster has absolutely nothing to do with the verdict or outcome. We do not know if Martin hid, stopped or came back to confront Zimmerman. So this point is baseless. This is not a case of political pressure. It's about an individual who shot another individual, period. If Zimmerman is innocent and was right to use self defense, then that will prevail. If not, he'll be found guilty and sent to prison.
  10. So today my 2006 F150 hit the 50K mile mark and figured I'd provide a little review of its reliability and dependability. Truck was built in June 2006, and purchased new in December 2006 with 23 miles, including test drive. Truck has consistently brought home 15mpgs city and 19mpgs highway on average. Other than the normal fluid services (oil, trans, injector, diffs, etc) and filter changes (air, fuel, oil, etc.) below is a list of items that have been replaced during the past 6.5yrs and 50K miles. Passenger front door speaker (warranty item) Dash gauge back light (warranty item) Ford logo on grille (warranty item) Passenger rear window switch (warranty item) 3 driver door window switches (1 under warranty) Stock BFGs at 30K Brake Pads at 30K (due to semi-metallic dust and squeal) Two sets of taillight bulbs One third brake light bulb Lower ball joints Driver side CV axle (abnormal tear/hole - looks like someone intentionally damaged the boot) Transfer case output shaft seal Spark plugs (exchange 2-piece design for 1-piece) The passenger side doors have been touched up due to a nasty scratch the Ford service dept. put in the passenger front door when replacing the speaker. Also have had the front bumper cover repainted due to a lady backing into the truck at my work parking lot. No out of pocket expense on either item and painting completed by Ford dealer. Otherwise, that's it. Truck has been very reliable of course and hope the next 50K miles treat me and my pocket book well. No plans on replacing the truck anytime soon, as it completes all its built to tasks exceptionally well. Then again, if that Atlas comes out, I may have 2nd thoughts.
  11. CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, local ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox channels, The Denver Post newspaper. Disagree if you like, not here to argue with you over your personal beliefs. Based on all the evidence I've seen reported and the fact he followed Martin after being told not to by the operator. Had he stayed in his vehicle or home and allowed the police to perform their duties, Zimmerman wouldn't be on trial and Martin would more than likely be alive today. The decision of one man (Zimmerman) to defy the operators orders and follow Martin with a gun created this entire situation. Did Zimmerman have the intention to kill Martin, most likely not but he did. Zimmerman ultimately was the reason for the altercation. Whether he was defending himself or not, we truly do not know if Martin was simply doing the same, defending himself from someone following him with a gun. So until the verdict comes in, this is my belief. Disagree all you like, but you will not change my opinion, only the outcome of the trial will.
  12. Hmm, I'm lost on why you started referencing the 6.2L & 5.0L and a smaller EB motor when quoting my post. Just seems out of place. Exactly how does the EB3.5 effectively replace the 6.2L, just because it's rated at better mpg? Evidently the 6.2L has some worth and hasn't been effectively replaced by the EB3.5L, cause they still sell it in the F150 (limited delivery) and in the Super Duty. If the EB3.5 effectively replaces the 6.2L, why do they offer the 6.2L in the Super Duty and not the EB3.5? You may feel the EB3.5 is a better option than the 6.2 due to the mpg. Personally, I'd be willing to pay the price penalty in mpg for the 6.2L over the EB3.5. I'm not against the EB motors, just from the short seat time I've had, I prefer the 5.0L and 6.2L better. To each their own though. And what if Ford offered a mini EB with similar tow ratings as the 5.0L but better mpgs. Doesn't mean that motor would be better/worse than the 5.0L. Most current 5.0L owners feel the tow ratings of the 5.0L are held back (for whatever reason) and aren't a true indication of the motor's ability. Hell, if the old 5.4L used to be the top motor with less HP and ft-lbs than the 5.0L and was rated to tow 11K+, what makes the 5.0L incapable of these same ratings? I don't think a baby EB V6 would attract any more buyers than what a mini-diesel would or what the current crop of motors does. Heck, many 3/4 ton owners moved up from a 1/2 ton simply for the diesel. So those owners if they wanted to move back to a 1/2 ton wouldn't have issue with paying a diesel premium. Not saying diesel is the way Ford should go. Just saying, the option of a diesel in a 1/2 ton is spoken about quite a bit and would be a nice option.
  13. Who cares about the whole political crap on this thread, that has no place, IMO on whether Zimmerman is guilty. Again simply IMO, based on the information I've seen on TV and read in the local paper, my assumption is the guy is guilty. Am I wrong, could be. Nothing any of the people here want to bicker about matters and will not change the outcome of the verdict. If he is found guilty, I may agree and believe justice was served. If he's found not guilty, I'll assume my thoughts must have been wrong, Zimmerman was innocent and justice was served. Why such the huge ordeal? But as with many trials aired in the media like this, no matter the verdict, the losing side will shout this trial was unjust and fixed.
  14. Not in the market, but can tell you if Ford offered a mini-diesel and the EB in the F150, I'd opt for the diesel. And hard to have a legit buyer when the product isn't even available.
  15. Disagree. I frequent many F-Series and full-size truck sites in general, and while it may not be the main topic every day, it is a consistent topic and desire from 1/2 ton owners of nearly all makes/models. In the car market you are correct. In the full-size truck market, of course 3/4-1 ton, they are actually the preferred option and typically sell at a higher rate than their gas counterpart when you exclude fleet and look at personal vehicle sales. People started buying the EB in the F150, that should be proof enough. For the price, which appears to be similar to that of an EB F150, I cannot see why this wouldn't translate into sales. Many 1/2 ton owners have been clamoring for a mini-diesel for years now. The EB was the first step in that direction IMO.

    No ethanol?

I found back in 2008 in my F150, E85 has to sell for $0.65-$0.70 cheaper than normal 87 octane fuel for the dip in mpgs to offset the cost difference between the two. Found running E85 on the highway produced a larger decrease in mpgs than when using E85 in day to day city traffic.
  17. I did call out the flex and tailgate issues as examples way way back when. Which of course F-Series has their own flaws too, not any vehicle is perfect. But their trucks are flawless on that site. I call them as I see them and I'll defend Fords to a point. But it's always entertainment when visiting there, as the story with their owners changes day to day and minute to minute, depending on what benefits their POV. Like the statement on why the interior has any involvement on the outcome of the vehicle. Duh, it's part of the truck, and the part the owner/driver uses/sees the most day to day. Also, they complain because safety, resale and reliability aren't equaled into the equation. Not one thing it's another.
  18. Yup. I started frequenting there when I was looking for a new truck, finding out the goods/bads of each. As you can see, I ended up in an F150. Many of the posts on the blogs/forums section from way back in 2007 were from me (justin). The original creator of the site Jason, also or used to live in the Denver Metro then. Anyways, he's a former F-150 and Tundra owner and we used to have some good debates about which was the better truck. Then individuals like Mickey and many other fan boy types came along and brought the site down IMHO. Like here at times, if you're not a blind Toyota or Tundra loyalist you're considered a troll/tool. Can't have good debates there anymore on which truck may be better/worse in certain aspects. Due to this, I don't frequent there nearly as often. Here is TundraHQ's write-up on the PUTC review. Screwed, nope. Tundra is simply the 2nd oldest truck in the comparo and finished 2nd to last is all. http://www.tundraheadquarters.com/blog/2013/06/17/2013-putc-light-duty-challenge/
  19. I've frequented their page off/on since 2007, just to see what type of hype they are throwing at the Tundra and BS they speak of other trucks. Typical of most brand/model specific vehicle forums. "Pound my chest, my truck better than yours cause me said so" attitude. And as usual, while the Tundra may have it's bright spots, they fail to realize it has a huge downside too. Guess they are just blinded by the "Toyota Ignorance". You know, the typical stuff of "Toyota's never break down". Or "Camry is the best selling car so it must be the best car on the planet". But if you reference the F-Series being the best selling truck on the planet, they say sales don't mean anything, it's resale value or durability or some other excuse. Always a good laugh there reading their posts.
  20. Good review in my opinion and not surprised the Ford won. But am surprised at the ranking of the new GM siblings. Wait, never mind, it's what I expected. But love the post/comment from TundraHQ (tundraheadquarters.com). I frequent their site, and their typical BS. They want certain aspects included, but others excluded.
  21. Unfortunately it sounds like the Ford Customer Service Center I dealt with back in 2001 when having issues with my '99 Explorer. Good luck, I never got anywhere with them in over of year of dealership visits, calls and engineers looking at the rig.
  22. My current and previous 5.4L and those I've spoke to with the 5.0L, meet or exceed EPA ratings consistently here at altitude. So to not expect it, come on now. Lived here nearly all my life and nearly every vehicle I've owned could meet/exceed EPA ratings even in the mountains. None of the EB owners I've spoken with have, which the increased mpg's was one of the selling points of opting for the EB. And the extra power they referenced was when climbing some of the highway/interstate passes that can exceed 10K+ feet, not in city day to day traffic. And of course those highway/interstate passes consumed tons of fuel for the added power.
  23. Actually the Accord is considered a mid-size car, but thanks for checking. By all exterior dimensions, the Fusion appears to be the larger vehicle. Fusion is 191.7" in length to the Accords 191.4" Fusion is 72.9" wide to the Accords 72.8" Fusion is 58.1" tall to the Accords 57.7" Fusion is 112.2" wheelbase to the Accords 109.3" Fusion is heavier in all trim levels than the Accord too, except the Accord V6 model.
  24. From what I've gathered from EB F150 owners here in CO. They like the power the turbos provide here at altitude where N/A motors many times run out of breath. But they complain they do not bring home nearly the EPA ratings in mpg when empty, and much much worse with a load. On even the slightest of incline and babying the skinny pedal, they complain the turbos kick in too often and soon which kills their mpg. The few 5.0 owners I've spoken with, appear to be bringing home relatively the same mpgs as the EB owners. Maybe in lower altitude and flatter land the EB's mpgs show through more frequently, but just doesn't seem to here from those I've have the pleasure to speak with. And I'm sorry, but I've heard the stock exhaust and a performance exhaust on an EB F150, and those trucks sound horrible. Not a sign of a trucks capabilities, but they sound in need of a tune-up.
  25. After seeing them and reading reviews, the Accord appears to be a dang good vehicle. This Accord offers styling on par with the Fusion IMO (minus the plug-in versions grille), more interior room and V6. Heck, the interior looks better than the Fusion interior as well. Which all this is odd for me, as I've hated practically every Honda made after since the mid-90s. Last Honda I liked was the Civic redesign in 1992. As for the new Mazda 6, I just do not like the style, simply not appealing to me. But from reviews, the driving dynamics seem to be impressive.
