  1. I'd rather stay in the 80's. Their music was a lot better than the garbage we have today! I mean, look at Van Halen, Steven Vai, Whitesnake, Yngwie Malmsteen, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest, Megadeath, Pantera, Slayer, all the good bands are from the 80s! Besides, panthers are fun to drive and if you get bored of yours, you can mod it! Just add in a limited slip and some steeper gears, 3.27s or 3.55s, an aluminum driveshaft, and dual exhaust! Plus they are cheap and easy to maintain and do go on forever. Also they are very comfortable and are the only sedans on the market that still resemble how a real sedan should look. Death to the Jellybean! That is what I have to say.
  2. You know what, nevermind..... Lets see here, the 'Democratic agenda' 1. Crap on second ammendment rights 2. Increase welfare spending 3. Start a Federal socialized healthcare program 4. getting partial birth abortions approved Oh, the ways I could describe how WRONG your judgement is. But hey I guess senators Obama blaming the "white racist, religion thumping, gun owning American" didn't reach the gray matter in between your ears. Maybe it is the BDS, Bush Disorder Syndrome, I don't know. I mean, the man makes me shuttter when he speaks but at least I know the alternative is far worse!
  3. Anyone notice the let's kill the panther crowd are always the loudest whiners? So completely immature. Talk about ignoring nearly 30 years of constant service and utmost reliability and safety of the panther platform. Then again, the true work horses never get the respect they deserve. It's always the POS FWD unibody crap that break cv joints that get all the attention. Oh well, sad world we live in.
  4. I believe Clarkson gave back the Ford GT because of a faulty car alarm system the dealer installed and then tried to blame Ford for it. The guy is a pompous ****! I used to like watching his show but he just gets really annoying at times and is pretty arrogant.
  5. I can guarentee you that if you use kaza, limewire, or bear share on your computer, you will have a 100% chance of catching either some form of winantivirus 2007 wether it be drive cleaner, privacy protector, or some other form as well as funwebproducts, aka cool webearch, virus protect pro, spy locker, spy locked, or some other fakeware or adware. How do I know this? Because I work for the geek squad over the phone support! I deal with people who use file sharing 24/7 and then they want to know why there computer is so F**** up and guess what they are using spybot and disk cleanup as well and you know what it does not help! You want to know why? Because most of this stuff you have to remove manually and spybot will not remove winantivirus 2007 or any of its subcomponents. It can't remove coolwebsearch either or spy locked and neither can Norton or McCrappy, cough McAfee! I know programs that will :D! So keep thinking you're safe. When I pick up the phone and I end up remote connecting to your computer to fix your screw ups, we'll see who's smiling then! Oh yeah, can't for get about thoose lovely Zango products either the 180 search assitant, the hot zango tool bar, and of course seekmo tool bars!
  6. Yeah, what you may not realize is that limewire, bearshare, kaza and all that garbage install adaware and trojans on your computer that seriously F***** up your machine! I've fixed enough computers to know that. Yeah sure, free until you have to pay someone to format your computer and reisntall widnows! HA!

  8. Yes and that's why California sucks. So now it is a crime to modify your car? But hey I agree, if someting you did causes a failure, the manufacture is not responsible. But **** the government! They have no say in how you should modify your own vehicle. As long as it has four wheels, tires that aren't bald, working head and tail lights, working turn signals, and doesn't throw any engine codes it is none of their damn business! I don't need some socialist pricks telling me "It's good for the enviorenment"! Screw them! They don't appreciate freedom anyway.
  9. I'm sure CVN would have the specifics but the 03+ frame is about 200-300 pounds heavier than the 92s-02s. New frame, outboard rear shocks, all new front suspension, rack and pinion steering, and it all adds up. Still, I'd much rather have an 03+. They handel a lot better with the upgrades.
  10. Yes it is worth it. If you want to know more, go to www.crownvic.net and ask them.
  11. Only the CVPIs and TCs have aluminum. I am pretty sure the stock CV's is steel. Traveler, if you do the gear swap to 3.55 or 3.73s with LSD, the marauder aibox, and a tune, you'll turn your car from a high 15s to mid 16s to a low 15s car easily. You might even hit 14.9 if you are luck! Heck, if you really want to put your money to use, get a set of Kooks longtube headers! Tony the Brit just has the Kooks kit and the MM airbox on his LXS and it ran 14.8! This is with an 87 tune too! This is with stock 3.27s!
  12. Traveler, don't forget to switch to 3.55 gears, Ford Traklock, and a aluminum driveshaft while you are at it! You'll enjoy it more!
  13. To be fair to the G8, the GTO was based on the Monaro which was approaching the end of its seven year life cycle, the vehicle had a huge powertrain upgrade, ls 1 to ls2, half way through its production run, plus the vehicle couldn't be sold in Canada due to some bumper laws. The new Zeta platfrom should have much greater success being that is a new platform that was designed from the start to be global unlike the last Monaro which was just a heavily modified Cadillac Catera.
  14. I'm suggesting this as a top of the line model. Also, I'm not saying they should put a 12 psi blower on there, 5-6 psi is all they really need which should be well within the engine's limits. Direct Injection isn't a bad idea actually. It will make changing park plugs a real PITA but not a bad idea.
  15. However Rich, how many people really need more than 365 fts out of a gasser? Plus with the addition of a new six speed auto soon, is it really that necessary? I mean for all the development dollars that it would take to fulfill a very small market segment, why not just throw a blower on the current 5.4 and strengthen the internals? Considering cost, it seems like the better option to me rather than waste development dollars on a whole new engine line. That was the original point I was trying to get across in the post. I'm not asking for a new Lightenning, I just think supercharging vrs a whole new engine family to serve a limited market of 400+ fts of torque from a gasser is rather limited. I think that when the new six speed auto arrives in the next refresh, most people will find the 5.4 to be more than adequate considering how well the Expedition moves with such a combo.
  16. Oh and we are the bad guys? So now it is a crime to be a Modular fan? Oh you people are great. Lot of support from a Ford website for a Ford motor, yup.
  17. I know, I'm just teasing you. In all serious though, thoose V6s that make that kind of power have some serious technology like Direct Injection and require fancy premium fuel. Not to say my motor doesn't but the new 3vs run on 87 plus the make 300 hp and over 300 fts of torque. Thoose fancy 3.5 V6s make the 300 hp but only about 280 fts of torque or so and also require 93. Ford has Direct Injection technology as proven on their new 3.5 V6s on the autoshow circuits. If Toyo can get 380hp from a 4.6 with Direct injection and DOHC, then there is no reason Ford can't either. I'm sure the modular motors are more than capable. Hell, I've read on modular depot that there were some N/A modular guys wtih DOHC Intechs gettting 400 hp at the fly wheel with ported heads and better sets of cams. You see that's the problem with this motor, it has the potentinal but Ford keeps pussy footing around making em that way from the factory. It really is a good motor.
  18. Too that statement, since you drive a CUV/ minivan and I actually own one of the listed modular vehicles mentioned in that statement, I can attest to the fact that the DOHC 4.6 is a little low on low end torque from the factory. However, I must note that my car is modiffied with a few boltons and I have found that this motor can make excellent mid range power and still get decent mpg. Sure it may not have the low end pull of a 460 but it really doesn't need it either. Also, unlike it's big block ancestors, the DOHC 4.6 is a screamer on the highway and it never lets up up like the small blocks and big blocks of the past. I can also attest that Ford's poor tuning with that motor from the factory sucks and easily holds it back from its true potentinal. Drive a slightly modded Marauder, like my car, with 4.10s and a tune and you'll see what I mean. With that combo, I got plenty of pull from off the line and still manage an over all 17 to 19 mpg with mixed city and highway driving which are fairly respectable numbers. Of course, I also got Mustang Cobra mainfolds, and highflow cats plus xpipe which help too as far as increasing MPG and power but that's besides the point. Plus, no pushrod will never touch the smoothness of the power delivery and the silky smooth idle these motors have.
  19. To be fair, all modern OHC motors are much larger than their pushrod cusins and all of the Euro and Japanese V8s are of similar size and displacement and are also OHC. From the Nissan V8s used in in the M45/ Q45 to the BMW 750s and 550s, to the Lexus 4.3ls, and even the Northstar V8s. Thoose OHC heads do take up a lot space. Also to be fair to the mod motors, they do take very well to supercharging and I for one think a small psi roots blower would be a good idea and would add far more than enough low end torque to easily outclass anything in the field and would also prove to be reliable and wouldn't do much to increase weight. I mean, all super modern duties are tuboed so how much more complex can a simple roots blower equipped gasser be? Many Manufactures including Trilogy motorsports and Roush racing make competent and durable roots kit for this motor so why not? It's not too pricey, only about $6,000 over a base 5.4 but you'd be getting 100 more fts of torque. The only true downside is the need for 93 vrs 87. The gas millage shouldn't be too much different, within 1-2 mpg assuming depending on the tuning.
  20. These whole threads about the death of the old Triton 5.4s and the small bore modulars really got me thinking. Why does everyone hate the modular motors so much? Why is it they are convinced that they are so vastly outdated when in fact they are some of the most modern foward thinking, cleanest running family of V8s out there. Yes the bore spacing is terrible but why not just update it with a longer block to support extra bore? Is a whole new engine with suposively 2 plugs per cylinder head necessary? Anyway, what I'm really getting at, is a 6.0l V8 gasser really that necessary? I mean, hell, the current 5.4l already makes about 300 hp and 365fts of torque at very useable rpms. All it really needs is a six speed auto to give it a wider range of gearing. However, it is more than just that. I think we are all going aorund this whole 'lack of power' thing the wrong way. Everyone here seems convinced that the only to make more power is more displacement and N/A. Has anyone here actually considered there is another far more cost efficent and reliable alternative? Why not just throw on a roots blower like an M90 or M112? As many modular hot rodders and modular fans, like myself, know that these motors respond exceptionally well to forced induction. I mean hell, there are already a ton of supercharger kits on the aftermarket for the 5.4, why not just sell one from the factory under warranty? I mean, wouldn't a roots blown 5.4l V8 give you far more than enough torque to pull just about anything you need? Just make it 6-7 psi and give it forged internals. Bam! Problem solved in a nice cost efficient and reliable manor.
  21. I don't care what anyone says but the quad headlights look pretty cool in person. Especially on the Sable version. Either way, it was one of the least reliable of the family. It wasn't that polarizing of a design. I mean, come on honestly.
  22. I just wanted to say that was a very interesting post that you made. Granted, we get many of thoose same kind youth here, (anti-american, anti-car, pro-enviornment, anti-global warming) and I can share your pain. Just out of curiosity, what is it that the Brittish miss the most about the old Fords? Is it anything to do with drivetrain configuration, FWD vrs RWD, style, etc. I was just curious that's all. It is nice to know that there are Ford fans all over the world. Even across the pond...
  23. Is it just me or is anyone here pondering what the heck a Korean V8 would sound like? Uh...... lol! I don't know about you but something is very wong here when Hyundia is beating Ford to the punch with an affordable modern V8 sedan. Come on, when is that 3v ZF6 auto comming to the panther cars? It sure ain't soon enough! That Interceptor concept is a long way from being greenlighted!
  24. My Marauder has 4 cats too but not for much longer, hehe :D Actually, all panthers have a four cat set up.
