  1. I guess that's the point... you can't screw politics - it can only screw U!
  2. last went about 4 years ago, and I will be going again this November I have 12, 9, and 3 year olds. We sprang for the part hopper option... it was nice to be able to go to Epcot for the day then hop over to the magic kindom for a parade or spend most of the time at one park then go to another for 1 specific thing. My best souveniers came from that Disney magic! (my 12 year old and my 3 year old.) lol
  3. You forgot to mention the number of seats might make a difference... especially for a daily driver. " But once 13 years ago I got 40 MPG hiqhway out of my 2.0 manual mercury milan.... that trumps the Porsche and it handled pretty well... so I guess it's a direct comparison, right?"
  4. Wow. Just... wow. Drag racing at the grass roots level is fun and challenging, just like any form of motorsports. Your right about one thing though... any jackass with a fat wallet can buy goodies to make a car go fast (er) or turn or make up for a lack of skill. there's always some guy with a Porsche and driving gloves poking fun at the grass roots people even at SCCA events because "I own a Porsche" so obviously he's better than the guy in older camaro/mustang/civic...
  5. Mark, they were probably either enroute to or from the Reading Airport WWII weekend. I work right next to the airport and I was watching EVERYTHING imaginable fly in on Friday - helldivers, PT-5 trainers, B-25's, B17G, P47M... etc. Heck, there was even a B-29 in attendance- that thing is bigger and sleeker looking in persion than you would think...
  6. Yes, I am going to find the marriage penalty quite uplifting. Can't wait to take home less every pay AND get slapped at the end of the year. Sorry, but I am of the opinion you have to fight the government tooth and nail to NOT let them raise anything. Show me where a 'temporary' fee/tax/toll has ended... Even the damn income TAX was supposed to be temporary.
  7. Oh Balls man. Two elections ago I stood in a line in the rain with my wife and kids for 3 and a half hours to vote after work(made the news). Guess what? I live in the suburbs although according to you it was probably due to my 3 black neighbors... - Tell me... how clean a sweep did the Republicans make in cleveland since they prevented so many voters from voting? don't you think the local election board has more to do with providing an adequate number of voting machines to the districts than the parties?
  8. Close... but not quite... in '72 there was a little known option known as the 351 H.O. (not Cobra Jet) it was for all intents and purposes a lowered compression Boss 351 engine... solid lifters and all. It was available in ALL the body styles with a mandatory Competition suspension. '73 was when all the fun ended ;-) (Although I think it was more 74 when catalytic converters and the mustang II...)
  9. Of which I'll second his opinion... states a United States citizen.... Just cause he's from the north doesn't make him wrong. I am REALLY not liking some of the thing I am hearing from the Obama camp.
  10. ... and no formal declaration of war. Which is what congress is supposed to do prior to initiating hostilities. Look, it's a grey area- a loop hole that allowed congress to have deniability "I never voted for war"...' (sounds kinda like congress now... "we never thought anyone would actually kill our guys... or that civilians might get killed.) Sorry - Love history but have a low opinion of the political machine
  11. You do realize that Thomas Jefferson ( the guy who WROTE the constitution) had his own little undeclared war against the Barbary coast, right? (Apparently we've been dealing with Muslim terrorists and pirates for some time now) Congress never declared war, but gave the president permission to act. I'm a firm believer in that saying that those who do not know history are damned to repeat it..
  12. Oh, I don't know - when was the last couple of times the US was isolationist? - (hint pre WW1, pre WW2,...) If you keep your head in the sand, sooner or later someone will come along and bury the rest of you.
  13. Seriously, hasn't the guy ever heard of double clutching to sync the gears?! EVERY manual I've owned over the years can be balky at times... you just double clutch it ... never force it - that's how you break things.
  14. Ok guys, Granted some of you are a bit over the top - but really - why doesn't Ford offer a more economical 6+ passenger vehicle? Perhaps they should consider adding another row of seats to the Escape. I have 3 kids and a wife... and while they all fit (although a bit snugly) into my Milan, I can't help wishing for one more seat. Why? Do you recall when you were kids and your folks took you, your brothers, sisters, and your friends out for ice cream? Another set of seats- even crappy fold away seats, would really be something I would value. I like the Explorer and Flex... but they are a bit bigger, not as efficent fuel wise, and just too damn pricey and nice to put young kids in. We have a Windstar but it is getting quite long in the tooth - what are my options with Ford? It's a shame because I really thought the Grand C Max was clever - and it seemed to be slightly larger than the Mazda5 (bit more room for luggage). Any legit suggestions? I'm done lamenting about the stillborn Grand C-Max - you can all go back to calling each other names like my kids do.
  15. When you say you tried the points... you did try to replace the condenser as well right? Those things were/are notorious for going bad at the wrong time... kinda like an ancient 5.0 TFI module...
  16. Greatest. Movie. EVER. (ok, maybe Star Wars but....) What the heck is going on??? This is the first time I have seen Mark B. Marrow and grbeck agree on Anything. Could the Blues Brothers be the secret to world peace? News at 11
  17. Does anyone know what specifically is failing? Is it the same thing or just "general" parts breaking - I wasn't able to find any specifics to look for to prevent a failure. (Kinda important to me since I own one of the damn things)
  18. Congrats.... You're 24564 miles ahead of my 2006 Milan.... also with no troubles to report. (even the original tires lasted 60K)
  19. You might want to think about looking into getting that fixed with the fan speed... I had a Contour with the same type of issue... no high speed fan. Then the 2nd highest went... then the next and the next until there was no blower at all and a lot of smoke... it turns out it was a known issue with the actual switch going bad. If I'd had it looked at earlier it would have been fixed before the harness connector got cooked.
  20. "..So tell me then gentlemen.... what would you "guess-timate" an all original '88 5.0 LX with 67k original miles, NEVER wrecked would be worth? This car includes EVERY available option in 1988 except the graphic equalizer. It even includes the optional 3.08 rear differential. The pics of my car below are from just last year." -Ovaltine It's worth notthing so you may as well just sign the back of the title over to me! I kid. I do have a problem with the 'never been wrecked' part... until you've swapped ends in the rain on the highway at 55 mph you haven't nearly enjoyed the car enough.. My 87 could spin with the grace of a figure skater - for virtually no reason at all. Loved that car.
  21. I remember the Hajeks from years ago... they were big on collecting and restoring ford race/drag cars like the lightweight Galaxies and the altered mustangs. Glad to see they're still rockin'.
  22. Holy toledo... Obama is doing something that makes SENSE? Promoting nuclear plants is NOT going to increase his popularity with his party's groupies. But damn if it isn't reasonable (should have been doing this YEARS ago - like 20 years ago) I guess even a blind squirrel can catch a nut every now and then.
