  1. Bad idea to piss off your dealership network. A lot of people like to see and touch their vehicle before they by it. A dealer helps answer the questions the customer has and is the ambassador for the company.
  2. More specifics including job figures for the various plants in Michigan: https://www.bridgemi.com/michigan-environment-watch/fords-2b-investment-michigan-solidifies-states-auto-production
  3. I've been hearing they're gearing up for a second shift. Perhaps they thi k the new Mustang will be a hot seller ? They were very vague as to the plant-by-plant breakout of investments and jobs.
  4. I would liked to have seen the investment/job breakout for each plant. The fund for which Michigan is drawing was for so-called "transformational" products. I thought initially Ford may be announcing a new battery plant or a new product/paint shop for FRAP.
  5. Dropping the Edge with no direct replacement to start. Spitting the company into two operating units will be an administrative nightmare. Cutting out your 3000 dealers in selling EVs will certainly alienate them.
  6. Michigan investments for a new Ranger, Mustangs and more Lightnings. These were already in the pipeline. New parts distribution center in Monroe. Seems more like an election year PR piece for Whitmer.
  7. https://www.cantonrep.com/story/business/2022/06/01/ford-may-build-electric-vehicles-in-ohio-at-sheffield-assembly-plant/7476363001/ Looks like Michigan will not be the only plants to get investments.
  8. Ford is supposed to announce a big investment package for several Michigan plants possibly including Flat Rock.
  9. X=crossover???? Perhaps tied into the supposed big announcement Thursday ?
  10. I believe so. The fund Michigan is drawing from is for new plants or major expansions of existing ones. 3000 jobs would be quite a few without adding shifts to a plant like Flat Rock.
  11. The $135million is just the money the state is giving Ford. The total amount of Ford's investment is unknown at this time but I would imagine it would be several billion dollars.
  12. Michigan to pledge $135M to help Ford retool Metro Detroit plants (detroitnews.com) The bits and pieces I could find stated that plants in SE Michigan will get investments for EVs and components. Supposedly there would also be investments for ICE vehicles and parts as well.
  13. Hell these vehicles went from being produced at Flat Rock to Ohio Assembly to Mexico to Oakville to Chicago. I don't think anyone-including Ford management knows what is going on.
  14. You have to remember that Ford is now a "woke" company and anything they do does not have to make sense.
  15. I think you have to keep in mind that politicians give a rat's ass about the environment as they are living in their mansions and traveling via carbon-spewing private jets and Suburbans, The care they have about the environment only reaches to the point where they can get a vote. If anything this administration's energy policies have done is to start turning people against the "New Green Deal" becasue they are starting to see the fraud and lies that are part of it.
  16. There, there, no need to worry. Don't ,you know that the electricity for the EVs will come from pixie dust and unicorn farts??
  17. Long trips or not, I can get a full tank of gas in 5 minutes or less and have more than twice the range. Charging time is a major concern and barrier to EV adoption IMHO.
  18. The Ferrari will be dragging the paint off the Tesla when the latter's owner is waiting two hours for a partial charge or cannot find a charging station.
  19. If this is a true Corvette competitor, it will be ICE. I would imagine there would be very little cross shopping between a Vette and a Tesla.
  20. I wonder if this is one of the Mustang "variants" was mentioned in the last contract for Flat Rock?
  21. I think it if is a Corvette competitor, it will be ICE at least to start.
  22. I would have to agree. I have always wondered why Ford did not have a two-seater to go head to head with Corvette. Now that Corvette has gone exotic with mid-engine, there is a vaccum for a true American two seat sports coupe with traditional front-engine rear drive.
  23. I agree with you. I think that a viable and reliable charging infrastructure is decades away. Biden and his corporate klingons were banking on Build Back Better and its 500K charging stations. Well BBB is dead. Who's going to foot the bill now? And sorry, people are not going to magically flock to EVs en masse even if our f'ed up government tries to shove it down their throat.
