  1. I remember last month someone predicting the Edge was following the footsteps of the Five Hundred...good one! I can't wait to see Murano sales...
  2. Why are you here? Have nothing constructive to add? The little red x is in the upper right corner...use it. ---------- This car is an improvement over the Five Hundred and fixes the nagging little issues that most of the auto mags spent too much effort expelling nothing but hot air. The name and safety will sell itself...AWD and 260 hp are just extra icing on the cake.
  3. Can it get any more hilarious and ironic than this? Toyota factory turns landscape to arid wilderness Toyota's response? http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/pages/live/a...in_page_id=1770 MOVING FORWARD, EH?
  4. I'm sure you and him would be best buds...like two peas in a pod!
  5. Jerry Flint is a senile old man that has nothing better to do than rant on Ford and GM. I can't remember any article by him that actually had something positive to say. His pieces are nothing more than Captain Obvious commentary revealing nothing we already didn't know. It's like he reads what everyone else has compiled and theorized before him, and then regurgitates it through his own incoherent ramblings. Edit: Check this out...nice research, Flint!
  6. I like them because of the design...they're typically sleeker, and cars with two doors just look better to me. Less door cuts make them look better, and you get a big area of uninterrupted sheet metal on the rear quarters where you can do some stylistic elements like curves, character lines, and swept back greenhouses. You're given more flexibility in coupe design than sedan design, IMO.
  7. I have a comment for OTISFORDSUCKS's website: if you're going to go after Ford Motor Company and want to at least look halfway credible, you'd probably want to make sure you double-check your punctuation. Your little page is riddled with commas in the wrong places, lack of spaces between words, and dumb errors like "secured to me by the Constitution to the United States." Oh, and Ford Credit totally owned you in that letter. :slap: And Mary Otis totally owned you in that video. I hope I don't become a bitter old man like you and The Lemon. Most people would have moved on a long time ago...but I guess having a chip on your shoulder gives you something to bitch about, right?
  8. I'm an architecture major and was working on my studio project tonight when I decided to check out the Google/Sketchup 3D Warehouse to see if there were any high quality car models I could download. Of course I was looking mostly for Ford stuff, but I also kind of browsed around to see what there was for other manufacturers. And surprisingly, there weren't that many decent looking cars, especially normal family sedans. They were either riced out, hot rodded, or low production sports cars. And since these were user-made, there were varying degrees of model quality...some like the '05 Mustang I downloaded looked great, and others looked like cartoon cars. Which led me to a thought; why doesn't Ford make some of its models like the Fusion, MKZ, Montego, etc. available for download through the Google/Sketchup 3D Warehouse? They don't need to be detailed like the 3D Studio Max ones that you pay hundreds of dollars to use, but just a basic, free model would be nice to be able to download. It would be a great way to advertise your product indirectly to many people; I've noticed many times when I do studio drawings and show cars in them, people often take notice of the car. On one of my last drawings, I drew a front view of a Cadillac CTS parked along the street near my design...and someone actually came up afterward and said "Is that a Cadillac?" It would be a fairly simple and cheap way to let people know about your products, especially new ones like the Edge.
  9. Chrysler is losing it these days. They had some good stuff going with the 300C, Crossfire, and Pacifica, but that design language has been completely watered down and / or bastardized with the new stuff like the Sebring and Aspen. The Aspen is a textbook example of providing the answer to the question that nobody asked. The Sebring is just bad. Whoever designed that took the nice-looking Airflite and completely ruined it. It is a design mess....pieces of different Chryslers all glued together to make an abomination that will probably end up en masse on rental lots like the current one. Then you have awful promotions like "My life. My car. My mess." Seriously, what kind of credible luxury brand promotes a contest where you find the messiest car in America? What is Dr. Z putting in the water in Auburn Hills? For all the hub-bub a year ago about how Ford and GM should be following Chrysler's lead, it's now obvious that Chrysler had no clue what they were doing in the first place.
  10. I'm sure Chrysler made quite the profit during its highly successful Employee Pricing Event this summer. Dr. Z is a genius!
  11. I agree with Ovaltine...Mercury needs to kick some ass again. As a whole, Mercury is my favorite FoMoCo brand, but mostly based on the past lineup. I'd be such a happy camper if there was a mid-level, RWD, V8-only Cougar with gorgeous styling and sequential taillights on the road right now. As much as it's good that Ford is defining a target for Mercury, they don't need to neuter the brand completely...give it one or two ass-kicking muscle coupes / sedans to keep us speed junkies happy.
  12. It's supposed to be satin aluminum like on the Mariner. That much chrome would be too gaudy, IMO. The rear upkick was is attributed to the '70 Montego. The front was inspired by the Milan / Mariner. Basically, I was trying to make something with a little more testosterone for Mercury. I like the old Mercs from the 60s and 70s where they had some muscle to 'em. The current lineup is nice and I can see why they are targeting women (huge market), but Mercury has some great heritage as well.
  13. I think it makes sense to phase out the Freestyle after Ford has the Edge and Fairlane on the market, thereby giving Mercury an exclusive Monticello and give the Fairlane and Edge a little more room to breathe without the Freestyle being stuffed somewhere in there. I think once the Edge and Fairlane come out, Freestyle sales are going to take a hit...but if you give it to Mercury, do the satin grille/LED treatment, upscale touches in the interior, and the Duratec 35...I think it could sell well and give Mercury some more brand identity.
  14. You know what they say...tip the country on its side and everything loose winds up in California.
  15. Master of Puppets was an inspirational and well-written album, unlike your posts. Why even bother coming here if you hate Ford so much? I mean, it's not like you're convincing anyone here to join your childish site, so what's the point? Your "forum" has a whole nine posts, and half of them are OtisFordSucks promoting his website. Quite the activity, I must say.
  16. As far as I remember, most of these listed for Toyota are from the last year or so. It'd be interesting to see how many headlines Ford has made in the last year and for recalls...surprisingly, I don't think it is nearly as many. They're actually doing pretty well for recalls this year besides the remnants of the cruise control switch problem. If I remember correctly, there was the cruise control at 1.2 million, the Five Hundred had a small recall earlier in the year, and there was one more small one that I can't remember (Windstar maybe?). I think Mustang Cobras also had a tiny recall that amounted to 20,000 or so. Ford has been making headlines for its financial issues this year, not for recalls and defects.
  17. I love how the GM fans think that the Silvy/Sierra are somehow invulnerable to rising gas prices. I remember all the talk a while back about how the Tahoe would save GM and everybody was excited over the early sales jumps, and look at it now. I like GM and I do like the Tahoe, but the attitudes of some of its fans are nothing but blind arrogance. Ford's not going anywhere, GM's not going anywhere...enough of the doom-and-gloom crap already.
  18. Does anyone know if the 3.5L will get better MPG or at least match the MPG of the 3.0L? It'd be nice to see Ford matching Toyota's 3.5L MPG numbers.
  19. How about this for a thought...don't kill anything. Merc as a brand is doing fine...I don't know why so many people have such an obssession with axing Mercury. The cars sell to people that don't want a Ford, and they probably actually make a profit since they're little more than higher trim levels. Jag will be doing better when some fresher product comes out. The guy who said to sell Volvo is a moron. End of story. The more brands Ford axes/sells, the lower the market share dips, making recovery even harder. Lincoln-Merc dealers will go belly-up, and they'll spend billions phasing out a brand that is putting along just fine. Give them a freaking chance to develop some product first and see how it does before you start sharpening the old hatchet. Ford is a a large company...and turning these brands around isn't going to happen overnight. There's this attitude today that everything should happen overnight...no one has any patience anymore. As long as Ford continues to bring out products that produce a profit and taking little steps at a time to regain market share, they will be fine.
  20. Pretty hilarious how he used the WRONG stats while throwing GM at the bottom of the chart. Jerry, just retire already!
