  1. Do you have any people on layoff and if so how many? Thanks
  2. Why not OT will be starting in 4 months time, another 15 years and they would be ahead of the game.
  3. I have checked all my maps but I can't find Akron anywhere in Japan, this is where the "Junk" Firestones were made. I just took the Firestones off my 96 Ranger, good tread left but age cracks on sidewalls, terrible after only 15 years
  4. Because they come with a 3 month waranty
  5. Your best may be to go to an auto recycler, most of them will have a Hollander interchange book, gives you year and modle of vehicle parts will fit
  6. A lot of the way prices are set has to do with the exchange rate that was in effect when prices were set. I don't think that Ford or anybody forseen the rate change as fast or as much as it did. Remember when we had a 65 cent dollar some now ex Ford employees were buying top end cars and trucks and exporting them for a profit and trade ins and lease returns from dealers were exported the same way. At that time cars in Canada were less that in the USA. if you converted the dollar. It is not just cars that are over priced in Canada. Look up prices on the same item at homedepot.com and homedepot.ca and you will see the same or greater price difference.
  7. STAP was born because of the Auto Pact, and died because of it. All of the main line North American auto makers at the time as well as UAW & CAW along with Canadian and American governments fought to keep it, but the WTO deemed it to be illegal. The so called big 3 paid a very good wage and supported several local parts plants. You could almost say all the ships going back to Japan, China, Korea and other places are not empty but takeing our jobs with them. We had a network of well paying plants supplying our needs but the inrush of offshore cars killed it.
  8. Good one What do you say to hear Elizabeth May?
  9. I believe that the 360 STAP number is the people who would like to come IF there are openings for them. They will only fill openings, not displace current people.
  10. Thanks for your answer, plant is down this week so no one to ask
  11. Can anyone tell me if you have been canvassed for buyout in the last few months? Dingbat said that nobody was offered any thing substantial, but to him that would have to mean 6 zeros. The 700-800 people are those who showed a desire to move to another Ford facility in Canada.
  12. AKA a$$ under glass, takes me back to the 70's
  13. Most people and plants talked about on this sight are American plants, represented by the IUAW, your plant is represented by the CAW. There is some similarity between the 2 agreements, but a great number of differences. Article 20 of the CAW agreement talks about hours of work and overtime. Basically in Canada we do not normally work production on the weekend, do yourself a favour and read this article fully and do not just cherry pick a few phrases or words and think you know it. After that ask your union rep. Yes we have had a few manditory Saturdays but quite a long time ago. Also check Appendix L starts on pg, 179 of your agreement,(can be linked from your locals web site)
  14. Sines from China deelaid doo two spelling arrer
  15. Most plants have them next to the free gas pumps. Have ypu looked there?
  16. Very well put. I retired in 2007 when plant lost a shift at age 62. Never looked back or had second thoughts. Last year I made same $ as my son who has a job because 900 others like me left to give the younger people a job. A good tax person can cut your taxes in half plus you get retiree discounts. My advice GET OUT AND LIVE.
  17. While the Towncar may make a good profit it is not even close to $30,000. MSRP is just under $50,000 which means car only costs $19,500 to $20,000 sitting in a dealers lot ready for sale and it is sold for list price.
  18. Hey you guys shut the door or something? Not a word in over 3 weeks.
  19. VERY well put, will any of the offshore suppliers be not available when needed, or will they supply the other side?
  20. DILLIGAF? Some how it is not a surprise you do not know the meaning of I Don't Give A F##K, Similar to IDHAC, I don't have a clue which would describe Dinngy
  21. Suggest you try Co-Trac Ford in Dutton, see Phil, he owns the company and is a salesman, great luck in ordering from him and he moves a lot of trucks. Just might get you moved up the list a bit or could have what you want in stock or on order.
  22. On another note STAP got there notice letter today. The CV is their preffered vechicle around here, keep her open and export the car they love.
  23. WELL SAID. I too feel for the departed Brothers.
  24. :hyper: Had a similar story when the rental company said they were giving me a Camrey as an upgrade and I refused to drive offshore junk. I ended up with a 500 and enjoyed my trip. Remember YOUR name is on the rental agreement, not your employer, and your record is on the line. If it ain't based in Detroit refuse it!
