Fortunately I bought my own car when I was 18 - baby blue 75 cutlass supreme with a white vinyl top, chrome wire wheels and blue velour seats. Now that was a pimpmobile. And a piece of crap. 3 radiators, water pump, timing chain, heads, transmission, exhaust (that was on me - tried to park over a railroad track at school) plus the top was all rusted out under the vinyl.

It's questionable whether they can sustain those kinds of sales numbers more than a year or two. The market for such a vehicle is still extremely limited. And if they continue to be successful they'll certainly get a lot of competition that will drive prices down and R&D costs up. I give them kudos for getting to this point but the jury is still out on the long term prognosis. Oops. I meant to say..... OK.

I wonder if the new CTS and ATS combined will sell as well as the old CTS when it was by itself. Also - since Caddy will be sharing platforms with Chevy going forward do you think they'll get ridiculed for it like Ford does? (that was rhetorical of course)

The only thing that will work with the public is some type of range from the most aggresive drivers to the least aggressive drivers. For the 2013 Fusion city rating I would expect that to be something like a high of 25 and a low of 15. Highway would be a low of 26 and a high of 35. Pretty much worthless if you're trying to compare two vehicles but at least it would manage expectations. Using E10 winter blend fuel woud help.

Thank you for proving my point. Winning comparison tests in magazines or getting engineering accolades do not equate to sales and profits. If Cadillac was a standalone company they would have gone bankrupt by themselves a long time ago - not because the products are bad but because they're spending way too much to get them.

Audi A6 2.0T - $51,000 nicely equipped. 211 hp, 258 lb/ft. You mean the one that nobody has driven yet and has only been seen in one spy shot? Sure they do.
