  1. specs haven't changed. Fat32 is required and there are some external drives that should work.
  2. Nope. The ecoboost engines are tuned to advance the timing to take advantage of premium fuel thus producing more power. Higher octane fuel doesn't burn more efficiently. It just allows more timing to be added.
  3. Because the button on top of the handle LOCKS the car instead of unlocking it.
  4. Just to be clear - it's not a separate fee per se. It's just a line item on the invoice that gets included in the final invoice price. The bottom line invoice price already includes it as do the A/Z/D/X plan prices on the invoice and the MSRP. So when they say they aren't adding a fee for FDAF or fuel it usually means they're not adding it as a separate fee, but if they're quoting you dealer invoice then it's already included.
  5. That doesn't make any sense. Ford rebates are between Ford and the customer. Ford doesn't pay the dealers - dealers pay Ford for the vehicle and rebates don't change that price.
  6. Nope. It makes absolutely no difference to the dealership. Dealers are independent businesses.
  7. Simple. Edmunds (and all other online invoice sources) doesn't include the FDAF (advertising fee). It varies from vehicle to vehicle and by geographic location. It averages around $500. It's a legitimate charge that Ford pays to the local Ford dealer associations to cover local advertising costs. It is already included in any final invoice prices, MSRP, A/Z/D/X plan prices so you normally don't see it but if you're using an online pricing source you need to add it to get the true dealer invoice.
  8. Newsflash - the $750 comes from Ford not the dealer. It doesn't change the dealer's profit at all whether you get the rebate or not - so there is no reason that the dealer would not want you to get the $750.
  9. It's actually (invoice minus 0.4%) + $275.
  10. Apparently it was just the 03-04 Cobra models and it only affected a percentage of them. I'm sure they sold many more Aviators in the same timeframe so it showed up on more of them. There are companies that make kits to fix the cooling problem on the 7 and 8 cylinders so it's definitely a known problem. Supposedly it was fixed in 05.
  11. I'm sure any automotive window tint retailer would gladly give you a 1 square inch piece of several different strengths at no charge.
  12. Good price but see how much they want to charge for a doc fee. X plan limits doc fee to $75 (or $100 - forgot exactly).
  13. Dust yes. Fingerprints? Nobody ever touched it so never had that problem.
  14. We're talking about where each company chose to invest their resources for hybrid vehicles. GM chose mild hybrids that flopped terribly, the VOLT and ELR which are expensive and low volume without huge incentives. Ford chose to invest in cheaper higher volume regular hybrids starting with the Escape in 2005 followed by the Fusion and MKZ hybrids, then newer versions with an Energi Fusion model and both C-Max versions. Compare hybrid sales over the last 8 years between Ford and GM and see who is getting the biggest ROI and who is providing customers with products they actually want to buy and that are profitable for the mfr at the same time. ELR is a halo because it's a "look at me I'm being green" showcase vehicle with very limited marketability. Where is the regular hybrid CTS or ATS? Or SRX? Where is the regular hybrid Regal or Malibu or Cruze? You can't possibly defend GM in this area.
  15. I had piano black center stack in my 06 Fusion for 7 years - nary a problem.
  16. Holden Opel Vauxhall Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac Ford Lincoln That pretty much sums it up.
  17. Outside of the big volume knob or a big tuning knob, you have to look at small buttons. I can change the climate control, volume, cruise control settings, wipers, track/station, make or receive a phone call, listen to a text message all without taking my hands off the wheel. I change music sources with one button press on the touch screen. Same for the heated seats in winter. It can't get much simpler than that. What else do you really NEED to do while driving?
  18. Do you even think about what you say before it leaves your mouth? Lincoln has been selling a MKZ hybrid for years now - at respectable volumes. Where is Cadillac's hybrid CTS or ATS? For that matter, where is Chevy/Buick's conventional hybrid? It's not that GM shouldn't try - it's that they keep putting their development dollars on the wrong things. They go for Halo vehicles that don't make money while their bread and butter volume vehicles languish with only minimal updates. They're obsessed with volume over profit and generating headlines over solid financial results. This is why they went bankrupt the first time around and why they're only one big downturn away from doing it again.
  19. My 2.0L EB seems to have a sharp cutoff on fuel economy around 2000 RPM. If you can stay below that cutoff point (like the EPA tests) you get great fuel economy. Go just a little over that line though and it falls off a cliff. The biggest hit seems to be maintaining speed uphill especially around 40-50 mph. You have to coast down the other side of the hill to recover decent mpg. I've also found I have to coast a lot with my foot completely off the accelerator - just touching it even when going downhill seems to take a FE hit based on the instant mpg readout. I think they're having to run it really rich for cooling and/or emissions compliance (or other technical reasons). I think it will take a few more years of tuning and tweaking and maybe one more generation of engine design to get it where it should be for max performance and FE at the same time.
  20. Fan Speed? You don't use auto climate control? Either way you can control both the fan speed and auto temp setting from the right hand my touch screen (assuming yours has the dual left and right screens like my Fusion).
