  1. Where does it say that two tier workers will never get bumped up to our pay?
  2. Man, to see Ford return everyone back to work AND hire newbies will be a great feeling. Can't wait.
  3. Great post and great ideas but at KTP and LAP we've participated in programs to help and support our community for years such as Habitat for Humanity, JDRF Walk, Green Mile, and many others. It still seems like people hate us or are at least jealous of our pay and benefits. I am sick and tired of people judging us because of where we work, saying our jobs are so easy that even a cave man could do it (sorry for the pun). I hate when people ask me where I work because they actually believe that we make $75 an hour. In normal conversation I can win most people over to buying an American made vehicle instead of a foreign vehicle. I also usually can straighten out the common misconceptions that most people have about our pay and benes, but I am so sick and tired of the media RESTORING these falsifications back into the minds of the general public, and on top of all that the union nor Ford, GM, nor Chrysler are doing much to help our image. Why is this?
  4. Without spending a quarter million on an exotic sports car, American muscle cars are the only performance cars. With Jap cars you have to spend a fortune to keep up with our muscle. With the American autos you get a lot more car for your money. In todays competitve market consumers are slowly but surely finding out that American quailty higher than people realize. The sad part is that we would get more credit (as far as quality goes) if our own government would stand behind us as the governments of our counterparts do.
  5. I can agree with that. The kicker is the fact that those of us who live in the illusion of middle class life actually work for what we have while the rest just apply for welfare and food stamps. Those people can sell Kool-aid on the side and make twice what we make busting our butts on the grind stone.
  6. Way to stick your employees in the ass GM! Way to rob the American blue collars, just like a wealthy elitist. Way to support Korea, Japan, and Chinas economy while screwing ours. It is kind of ironic that this news comes out after Obamas big news yesterday of changing the tax laws on American based businesses with overseas operations.
  7. I have said for a long time now, if you see a truck on the road and it doesn't have a blue oval on it, then it isn't a real truck.
  8. The MKZ is a very awesome car. I dont think we (Ford) build anything that isnt a quality vehicle anymore, and if it dosent say Ford on it, then it isnt a real truck.
  9. They should behave more like thier Asian counter parts. Resign and maybe even suicide. Maybe even put it on youtube or something.
  10. Does anyone know the number of members we actually have in 862? With the buyouts and retirements Im not really sure that we have 5000 any more. Never the less it was a poor turnout althought when I pulled into the parking lot at the hall I thought every worker in our local showed up at once! Man it was packed to have so few votes. JMO.
  11. I am ambidexterous so Im not sure lol. Does sound weird though.
  12. No matter what the numbers are the is always the possibility of rigging. JMO
  13. My teamleader sent me a text that said the vote was 1067 Yes votes and 930 No votes. We will find out for sure tomorrow though.
  14. Well maybe our government could change a few policies on the foreign automakers like how many vehicles they can sell in the US (like they do us) and that would help even the playing field. We need a clause now that says "No imports" now to help during these hard times. That would force the rich to buy a domestic vehicle rather that a Bently while the poor and middle class fight their way through this mess. What ever happened to American pride anyway? My grand parents would never dream of buying an import or anything not made in America and they didn't even work for the big 3 nor were they in a union. What the hell is wrong with these people?
  15. I just want to make sure the cuts are across the table. We have been making cuts for a while now, I would like to see upper management make some serious concessions. I would also like to see the wasteful spending come to an end. They say if we conceded all of our pay and benefits the big 3 would still lose money which tells me that the duration of this depression, recession, economic downturn, or what ever it is being called, will determine the fate of our jobs. Not the concessions we make. Good luck to us all. In Solidarity
  16. I read this morning in a news article (don't remember which one) that the UAW was NOT discussing wage cuts but were negotiating benefits cuts, mainly ending the jobs banks and reducing sub pay to 70%.
  17. Lets not turn on each other now brothers. That would be counter productive. Ford should be advertising OUR top notch quality and the government should be making policies that support American automakers. The union should also be campaigning our high quality products built by American workers for American intrests. There are so many issues on so many levels that the big 3, the union, and the government could colaberate on for the good of the people and business, but for now we only have the power of positive speaking from "ourselves" the workers who shoulder the burden on a day to day basis anyway. We are the most productive work force in America, lets stay that way.
  18. Sounds like the movie Red Dawn. Most people assume that senerio is too far fetched. Although it is not likely, I try to prepare for it by learning how to find food as you stated, and drinking water. I am an avid hunter and fisherman. I feel that I am a great outdoorsmen but that does not mean I am prepared. You cannot learn too much.
  19. We owe China trillions of dollars and we are about to barrow more. They have a lot of jobs that were ours, even if they don't pay much in China, they were still our jobs. They produce junk and we buy that crap at Wal-mart. Chinas communist system has made the rich richer and the poor poorer. Now our middle class is paying for it. As far as letting them come over here, I am against immigration. We should seal our borders and deport the immigrants that are here. Our government doesn't feel that way, they are issuing work visas for immigrants to replace laid off Americans at a cheaper rate.
  20. Yea it is a bunch of bull shit that they even make it public what we make. It is no bodies business but ours. But if they are going to tell the world at least they could get it right. Kentucky unemployment is $373 after taxes and my sub pay is $277 after taxes. A total of $650 after taxes. Now I would like to see total compensation figures of all politicians and execs. They caused this mess to begin with and are being paid far more than their forign counterparts.
  21. It is a real shame that our government let China, over the years, own us. So I say charge China top dollar for the peanut butter (they can afford the hefty price tag) and fire our politicians.
