  1. https://www.plugincars.com/cars Actually,18 miles is very competitive with other luxury performance plug in hybrids... while making substantially more power the most.
  2. https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1122431_ford-explorer-plug-in-hybrid-released-for-europe 18 miles may not be an official number yet... the Explorer PHEV for Europe that has essentially the same drive train but with a 0.5 kwh smaller battery is rated for 25 miles under their test method.
  3. My dream Aviator GT would ditch that wimpy battery altogether and replace it with a 1.21 Gigawatt Mr. Fusion ☢️
  4. https://www.tflcar.com/2019/08/yes-the-2020-lincoln-aviator-hybrid-has-nearly-500-horsepower-and-more-torque-than-the-new-corvette-stingray/ The Aviator GT might only go 18 miles on just the battery, but it has more power than the new mid engine Corvette Stingray... and it cant even get out of the garage on just the battery!!!
  5. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a28694132/lincoln-aviator-plug-in-hybrid-more-horsepower/ Estimated range is shown in last paragraph...
  6. According to the IRS: "the credit is equal to $2,500 plus, for a vehicle which draws propulsion energy from a battery with at least 5 kilowatt hours of capacity, $417, plus an additional $417 for each kilowatt hour of battery capacity in excess of 5 kilowatt hours. The total amount of the credit allowed for a vehicle is limited to $7,500." So the minimum battery capacity for the full rebate is 16 kwh... 2500 + 417 + 417(16 kwh- 5 kwh) = 7500 The Aviator rebate should then be 2500 + 417 + 417(13.6 kwh - 5 kwh) = 6503, rounded to 6500
  7. https://insideevs.com/news/343757/ford-tourneo-custom-plug-in-hybrid-van-to-launch-in-late-2019/ The Aviator appears to have the exact same 13.6 kWh battery as this new 8 passenger Ford PHEV Van for Europe. And the range is, wait for it... 50 km (31 miles)!!! Also, the battery for this van and the Aviator will have a slightly higher capacity than the Explorer PHEV for Europe, which is 13.1 kwh.
  8. I seriously doubt that cost was the determining factor for limiting the battery size to 13.6 kwh and leaving it about $1000 short of the maximum tax credit. There were other very important design eliments that may have limited the available space for a bigger battery. Like: the rear drive layout with uncompromising rear suspension setup very similar to the Mustangs; the 19 gallon full tank and PHEV battery under each side of the car that allow the exact same inerior space as the gas only models (have you seen the hideous trunk layout in a Fusion Hybrid); and an efficient PHEV system that instead of compromising performance over the gas only models... it blows them away!!! Talk about having your cake and eating it too... the Aviator GT is looking like a true game changer!!! In addition Lincoln knows that battery sizes will continue to shrink as the technology advances, so they'll be able to increase battery capacity within the same footprint in future model years... and current owners could probably upgrade if so desired.
  9. The battery in the Escape PHEV is is only 0.8 kwh bigger, plus its front wheel drive only... leaving more room under the rear seats for a bigger battery. The Aviator GT is an efficient AWD powerhouse while the Escape PHEV is an extra efficient people mover... different strokes for different folks!!
  10. The Aviators air glide system also uses electronic variable pneumatics and hydraulics... just read an article on the Eactive and it looks like the systems are pretty much equal. They claim they're first, but not by much!!!
  11. I'm sure there will be some cool models also... like Bronco Badlands, Bronco Raptor, etc... why not offer models from mild like the original Bronco to wild with full Raptor treatment!!!
  12. The Outer Banks is known for its wild horses in the dunes and Big Bend National Park allows you to bring, ride and camp with your own horses... so in that respect these wilderness areas make sense for some of the Bronco option package names. I think Bronco Sport would be a better name for the baby Bronco.
  13. When EV production begins at the MOD Center, will there be another OKTB procedure required for that line? If so, shouldn't OKTB be acieved much quicker this time since the painted bodies are still produced at CAP?
  14. So will production of hybrids and PHEVs start late summer at CAP as oiginally planned, then phased over to the MOD center as it comes online... or will EV production be delayed until the MOD center is up and running?
  15. Thanks, dealers are getting allocation and can place orders on the GTs but the orders aren't getting scheduled yet. The alert said something like: Hold 99Y PHEV Late Availability It will be interesting to see how they safely transport the constant flow of painted bodies about a mile from CAP to the new supplimentary line and the finished units back to CAP for final inspection. Doesn't seam like a very efficient way to build a quality vehicle, I would prefer it to be completely built at CAP.
  16. The dealer closest to me has a separte showroom from their Ford place and sells both BL and EV. I have a xplan order for a loaded Grand Touring, I personally don't care for the BL theme interiors and perks. They told me the 99Y PHEV hold was supposed to be lifted last week and mine would be scheduled soon. But they checked the status again on Friday and it still shows the hold at the bottom of the page. Also, the latest Explorer order guide update just posted doesn't say late availability for the hybrid... so it sounds to me like they are still setting up to build the hybrid and phev models at the main plant, but will be shifting production to the new line for additional capacity when its ready. Hopefully they just changed the availability dates in the new advertisements because they already have enough existing orders for what they can make on the main line until the switch ocurs, and then most of the EV orders from now on would be after the new dates. Many of us who placed orders without even seeing one where going by the original late summer availability and counting on a sizable tax credit for this year... if that isn't going to happen now they should be telling us instead of keeping us guessing.
  17. I have an 09 Limited with rear load leveling and due to work it sometimes sits for months at a time with no battery problems. I also had a 98 with four corner load leveling and the original battery lasted 10 years (and it also sat for months at a time)!!! I love the load leveling suspensions and got 160K trouble free miles out of my old one (just changed the front air shocks twice) and the the pump on the old system would run every time you started the car because of the kneel feature. The pump on the new rear only system hardly ever comes on because it doesn't kneel an inch every time you stop the car like the old system. The new system only comes on when you add a heavy enough load that it has to re-level, which hasn't happened very often so far, only when hooking up a trailer or loading the rear with really heavy stuff. I like always having a level truck with no 'headlights-to-the-sky'... plus I think it rides better than the springed models.
  18. When will the 2010 Escape/Escape Hybrid order guide be out? Can sombody please post it when it becomes available? Thanks
  19. What colors for the Limited? Any changes and new features/options for 2010?
