  1. Good point. Look at the Fusion; you can get the Luxury Package AND the 2.5 4cyl. Very smart of Ford to do that. Almost makes a hybrid sensless..... ALMOST.
  2. What a BEAUTY!! I can tell you are proud of it and rightfully so.
  3. johndeer, ham As I said in my post, if I were going to tow/haul thousands of pounds I would definitely get the EB. I will probably just be hauling two dirt bikes and gear. I am sure that most people here want more than just hauling when when they buy a Ford F-150. They buy it for the same reason the F-150 has sold MILLIONS of units to people, many of whom haul very little more than kids and groceries. They buy it for it's good looks, it's durability, towing capacity, it's style, it's comfortable ride (compared to an F-250), it's nice interior and, I bellieve its SIZE. Yes I said size. Most people don't really want/need an F-250 or a Dodge Ram or a Silverado because only the F-150 is just slightly SMALLER so as to not be intimidating (and less expensive) as the bigger bodied trucks. I have been honest all along about the 5.0. I like it because of it's throttle response and SOUND. I have freely admitted that the EB has more hp and torque. I hope LOTS of people buy the EB. I believe it will help Ford meet the CAFE standards. Chrysler and GM have nothing to match it. But me, I will be the one passing you at the 1/16 mile marker only to see your EB walk by me at the 1/4 mile with my windows down all the way and a big grin on my face. And thanks to your quiet EB I will be able to hear my 5.0 make it's music all the way. C,mon ham, I can see you at a red light. Up comes a brand new 6.2 Silverado 1500. I bet you would demonstrate your EB's passing ability to the happless owner of the Gov't Motors product. Silent but deadly.....
  4. I have driven both back to back at an F-150 round-up. Pushing down on the gas pedal of the 5.0 caused instantaneous, HARD acceleration. Pushing down on the gas pedal on the EB caused a split second of turbo lag that was followed by HARD acceleration. If you look at the hp/torque numbers, they are very close. The 5.0 has 360 hp and 380ft/lb. The EB has 365hp/lb and 420ft/lb. Not really much difference. If I was going to haul a very heavy load or heavy trailer, I'd get the EB. The 5.0 has lots of power, but for my purposes I am going to go for the 5.0. Oh, and BTW, the descriptions of the sound of the 5.0 is 100% accurate. It made beautiful music!!! The EB made less sound and not much music.
  5. I am considering the 5.0 also, so please let us know how it pans out. Thanks.
  6. Sailors are just like us gear heads....we will race anything!!! Where in Texas do you sail/race?
  7. This is an old thread. I was at a F-150 round-up a few months ago. I got to drive an EB F-150. I can see why the 4.4 got put on the back burner. The Ford rep told me that the EB was their answer to the demand fot the 4.4 diesel. Let me tell you, the EB motor ROCKS!! 365hp and 420ft/lb. I owned a 6.0 powerstroke and this felt just as powerful as the 3.5 EB. In light of the fact that diesel costs more than gas AND given the fact that EB costs (in most cases) about $750, the diesel seem totally useless in the F-150.
  8. It looks WAAAAAY better than I thought it would.
  9. THAT is why I vote Republican and buy Fords. And one of the reasons I intend to buy the 5.0 which can use E85
  10. I use the name because I used to road race motorcycles at Willow Springs Raceway and the motorcycle I raced is called a Ducati, commonly called a Duck for short. Hence the username of DUCKRACER. The only square sailboat I know of is a sabot and I don't build them..
  11. 1depd. Your neighborhood condition has everything to do with this forum. Your choice of which f-150 affects this forum because people come to this forum for input about which model, which options, which color and so on. Sorry about your friend. Try carsdirect.com for a price. You can build your vehicle on there without giving them you phone number or e-mail. I used them in 02 and got a pretty good deal.
  12. I have looked in the specs for the 5.0 in various places and I can't find what the V in the V8 is. Based on the pictures it looks like a 90 degree V to me. If so, this may help explain why the 5.0 is such a smooth and sweet sounding motor....Like my DUCATI ......
  13. three NEW F-150's??? Are you afraid that BO will outlaw trucks and make us all drive smart cars??? i am.
  14. PitCritter. Thanks for your very informative response. 22mpg hwy is encouraging. I have been trying to decide what gear ratio to get and now I know to get the 3:55 Thanks for the pic, What a BEAUTIFUL truck. I love the grille on the FX2 I am contemplating a black Lariat and that pic may seal the deal. All things considered, I am leaning more and more towards a 5.0. The 5.0 mpg is not that far from the EB mpg. I have driven both and the 5.0 made beautiful music and the EB....not so much. Thanks again for your time and effort.
  15. Does anyone out there own a 2011 F-150 with a 5.0 motor? If so, how do you like it? What kind of MPG do you get? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  16. Not a bad idea. I may have to resort to that. Thanks.
  17. A few weeks ago I heard that someone like JD Powers or something found Lincoln to be the most dependable car, even beating Lexus.
  18. Thanks akirby. That is exactly what I meant.
  19. When I use "Build and Price" at Ford's F-150 website I don't see any way to order skid plates from the factory. The only way to get skid plates is to get the Off-Road Pkg. The problem is that I don't want the 3:37 gears that come with the Off-Road Pkg. Since I am not going to haul or carry very much and I want a little better mpg I want the 3:55 limited slip gears. In September of 2010 someone was kind enough to publish the 26 page "MAJOR PRODUCT CHANGES" and "MAJOR PRODUCT" for the 2011 F-150. At page 13 of this printout under the heading of FUNCTIONAL it showed "Skid Plates" (4X4 only) and noted the order code as "413" and "P-55A" Does anyone have an idea how to approach this issue when I order my F-150 form my Ford dealer? Thanks.
  20. The only thing I wiold add is that I will take my vehicle to the dealer for scheduled maintenance untill the warranty is up, then go whatever way you think is best. That way the dealer can't deny warranty repair because you took it to jiffy lube during the warranty period.
  21. Maybe. Maybe not. But WE are not the cause. In the mid 70's the cover of TIME magazine proclaimed global cooling. Later, AL Gore called it Global Warming. Recently it has been called Climate Change so that no matter what the climate does, mankind is to blame. Yet the cure seems to be to transfer wealth from rich coulntries to poor countries and hobbling the economy of capitalist countries. None of this has anything to do with the climate, but it has a LOT to do with forwarding the progressive agenda.
  22. Build one at carsdirect.com and use it as a hammer. If they won't budge just order it through carsdirect.com
  23. I wish people would wake up and realize that man-made global warming is a socialist HOAX.
  24. You left out the most important part. IS YOUR TRUCK AN ECO-BOOST????
