  1. The PDF printout of Form 8910 from my Turbo Tax 2008 (desktop version) indicates that it is for TY2008. Here is IRS' explanation of the status of the online form: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/f8910--dft.pdf It reads in its entirety: "The draft of the 2008 Form 8910, Alternative Motor Vehicle Credit, is being revised to reflect provisions in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, and will be reposted soon." Once IRS releases the revised form, Turbo Tax will probably update their desktop version software through online updates (but I'm just guessing here).
  2. I just completed my taxes using Turbo Tax 2008, and it used the TY2008 version of Form 9810 (at least it says it is the TY2008 version.) The program will not allow me to print out a blank form.
  3. Hi CoalMiner, I have ambient lighting on my '09 MMH. It came as part of the "Hybrid Premium Package" (order code 18P). I don't known if it can be ordered as a single option or only comes with the hybrid package. I also don't know if it is available on any other Ford or Mercury models. The push button switch is located on the center console near the right front corner of the gear shift /selection panel (park, reverse, drive, etc.). The button is used to turn the ambient lighting on and then cycle through all of the colors. After cycling through all of the colors it will turn the ambient lighting off. Once you settle on a color, it will stay on in that color until you select another color or cycle through the remaining colors to the off position. The ambient lighting (if activated) is hardly noticeable during the day, but is quite obvious at night. I don't usually turn it on at night because it produces an interior light glare on the widows which I find distracting. My daughter loves to play with it at night. I thought the lighting was amuzing and fun when I first got the vehicle, but now that the novelty has worn off, I don't mess with it (your mileage may vary). If you haven't already done so, go to http://www.mercuryvehicles.com/mariner for more info on the vehicle. Clicking the "Interior" tab at the top of the page will take you to http://www.mercuryvehicles.com/mariner/interior.asp You can see the ambient light button at the bottom of the large picture of the dashboard at the top of the page. It is located just to the right of the gear sift lever. Toward the bottom of the page, there is a video clip on the abient lighting feature. Play the video and you will see the button. (There is a long narrow slit / tray to the right of the gear shift selection area for pens, pencils, etc. The button is located just forward of the slit / tray.) Hope this helps. Good luck on your vehicle / option selections!
  4. I had WeatherTech window deflectors on my Chevy Avalanche, but elected not to put them on my '09 MMH. On my Avalanche, they did not impede the raising or lowering of the windows and did not obstruct the rear view mirrors. On the downside, I got a little more wind noise from them when the windows were closed, and one of them was stripped off by an automated car wash one time (no damage to the vehicle, but the deflector was split/cracked to the point where is it was unusable). You may also want to consider that they will cause a slight aerodynamic drag on the vehicle and will probably cost you a little bit of gas mileage. Hope this helps. If you decide to put them, I would be interested in what you find/think about them. I may change my mind and put then on my Mariner!
  5. Picked up my MMH yesterday from the dealer!! The paperwork process at the dealer went very smoothly. No games, no hiccups, no problems. They honored the price agreement we made in August with no price increase and they even alerted me to a sale tax reduction that occurred in October (a local municipal sale tax "add-on" that expired). It saved me about $200. If you are looking for a new Ford or Mercury vehicle in the San Joaquin Valley of central California, checkout Madera Ford Mercury. Good people to deal with. I love the MMH! AWD, Moonroof, Nav System, leather package, Metalic Silver. Drove off the lot with 13 miles on the odometer and put a whole 22 miles on it to get home. A number of poster have commented about the loud ICE on their '09 MMHs and FEHs. I didn't get that impression on my MMH (but I've only driven it 22 miles). My first impression is that it is a fun car to drive. Handles well, good ride, easy to maneuver and park in tight places. Unfortunately, I was unable to drive home with the moonroof open due to rain. The only thing that took me by surprise was monitoring traffic directly behind me in the rear view mirrors. Cars appear to be much closer than I am use to or comfortable with. I'm use to driving a large pickup, and I'm thinking that the lower angle of the mirrors on the MMH make traffic appear closer... I'm going through the Nav system manual and have come up with my first question. I number of posters have mentioned a tank MPG average display on their Navigation unit. Are they referring to the "AVE Econ" mpg number in the upper left corner of the HEV display or is there fuel usage data somewhere else in the Nav? Feedback would be appreciated.
  6. My MMH is here! Yesterday afternoon my dealer called to inform me that the scheduled delivery of my MMH (to the dealer) had been delayed from 11/3/08 to 11/06/08. Bummer, but not a big deal...only three more days. So this morning I'm sitting in my office working on my second cup of coffee and the phone rings. Its the dealer, and he informs me that my MMH was delivered earlier in the AM! I had an afternoon appointment two counties away and was not able to get back to town in time to pick it up. So...tomorrow is the day! My biggest concern at the moment is that it is suppose to rain tomorrow and I won't be able to drive home with the moonroof open...
  7. Were you able to pickup you FEH today? What are your first impression? Hope all went well. My dealer notified me today that delivery (to the dealer) of my MMH has been delayed until Thursday, 11/6. Frustrating, but its only three more days.
  8. Yes, it is still of interest! Congrats on your new ride! Why the wait from date of delivery to the dealer and date of pickup? My MMH is scheduled for delivery to the dealer on Monday (11/3). I'll be banging on his door Monday evening or Tuesday morning and prep it myself if I have to! Anyway, good luck with the new ride, and let us know what your thoughts are on it after you've had time to settle in with it.
  9. Sorry to hear about your troubles getting into a FEH. A long wait for a new car can be maddening. You may want to consider going to another deal and buying one sitting on the lot. There is not a lot of them out there, but there are a few. You can search for new FEHs at dealers by zip code at www.cars.com. Under "New Cars" enter the vehicle you are looking for and your zip code. Once you get to the results page, you can expand the search in terms of "Distance to Seller" at the bottom of the page. Hope this helps, and good luck with whatever you decide to do!
  10. Thanks for your thoughts and feedback. It make sense that the ICE would seem loud after running in EV mode. Even if the ICE is marginally louder than what we would expect, it would probably seem much louder compared to EV mode. If it gets too bad, you can always turn up the radio! I am not in need of a lot of cargo space (only me and occasionally my daughter), but it is good to know that it is there if I need it.
  11. Can't help with the non-hybrid Mariner, but I ordered a hybrid model on 8/4/08 and have been told by the dealer to expect delivery on or about 11/3/08. So, for the hybrid model, about three months for mine. From what I've read in this forum, order to delivery time lines vary depending on the State where the vehicle was ordered, dealer allocations, manufacturer production schedule, etc. HeloCaptain posted yesterday that he received his '09 hybrid Mariner in seven weeks. Sorry, can't help with factory rebates. Hope you get into your new ride soon and good luck with it!
  12. Congrats on your new MMH! I have one on order, but have not taken delivery yet. I agree about the 2009 over the 2008. I think the upgrades in the 2009 (larger ICE, better MPG, higher electric motor/ICE threshold, etc.) are well worth the extra wait and money. When shopping for my '09 MMH, I had a couple of dealers try hard to sell me '08s sitting on their lots rather than ordering an '09. I was not interested in an '08 and finally found a dealer who was happy to order an '09 for me. Seven weeks from order to delivery is amazing. Let us know what you think about it after driving it for a while. Good luck with it, and I hope it is everything you were looking for.
  13. I think modern tires run at a higher psi, especially those designed for fuel efficiency. Thirty-seven psi does not seem high to me (but I don't know much about tires). What is the brand, model and tire size? The tire sidewall should list the maximum pressure. You can also go to the manufacture's web site or www.tirerack.com for the manufacturer's specs. The specs will list maximum tire pressure. Let us know what you find out.
  14. Congrats on your new ride! Six months to wait for a new car is a long time. If mine is delivered on schedule, it will be three months from order (08/04/08) to delivery (11/03/08). I would be interested in hearing your thought on your Escape after you've had some time with it. Good luck!
  15. As an alternative, maybe we should try to get the thread back on track! My MMH was scheduled to be built either yesterday or today (possibly tomorrow). I'm waiting for confirmation from the dealer. With a scheduled build date of 10/20/08, the dealer estimated delivery to be 11/03/08. Hope he is right!
  16. As the future owner of a MMH, can you point me to reviews where the FEH was rated higher or better than the MMH? Based on my research and according to my dealer, they are the same with the exception of exterior trim/badging, cosmetic interior trim and heavier sound proofing on the MMH. I can't say that any of this is true (except the exterior trim/badging) since I don't yet have my MMH, so I would be interested in seeing the reviews. I also believe MMHs and FEHs are assembled on the same line at KCAP using the same parts.
  17. Thanks for the feedback allornothing! You are getting me all worked up about getting my hands on my MMH. $175 is some nice extra coin. "Stupid luck" or not, what matters is you're driving your new MMH now! I'll post some pics of my MMH when I get it. BTW, where do you hail from?
  18. Based on what I've seen in the forum here, timing varies and is dependent on a number of factors (dealer allocations, State where the vehicle is ordered, manufacturer production scheduling, etc.). I ordered my '09 MMH on 8/4/08 from a small central California dealership. The dealer notified me on 9/16/08 that my vehicle is scheduled to be built on or about 10/20/08, and I received the VIN from the dealer on 9/29/08. So, from receipt of VIN to the date the vehicle is scheduled to be built, about three weeks. Your mileage may vary. Hope this helps, and good luck with your new FEH!
  19. Your dealer gave you an '08 to drive while waiting for your '09? Great! I wish my dealer would give me a loaner (but they have been good to work with otherwise). I still have another month or so to go (if all goes well) before getting into my '09 MMH. Having driven the '08 for a while, you will be in the unique position of being able to compare the driving/power/performance of the '08 to the '09. I would be interested in hearing (reading) about your experiences. Good luck with the new one when you get it!
  20. I considered the ice blue, but settled on the silver clearcoat metallic & tan leather interior. I am hoping that the silver clearcoat won't show dirt as badly as my previous vehicle (dark indigo blue). I've never had leather seats before, so I'm happy to hear they are easy to care for. I think the ICE is engineered to work hard when necessary, but it is probably disconcerting to hear it revving a lot. Do you find the noise of the ICE intrusive? I think the '09 MMH will be a great car for Yosemite. The speed limit in the park is 35 mph, and it is about 35 miles from the park gate to the valley floor (south entrance)...plenty of time to run in EV mode. I'm not a hypermiler, nor am I interested in trying to squeeze every last inch out of a drop of gasoline, but 29-30 mpg or more sounds good to me! A two week wait for a '09 MMH? Wow! I'm jealous. I've been waiting for mine for eight weeks now and probably have another four to go (if everything goes well). Have any pictures of your new ride you can post?
  21. Thanks! Yes, I ordered the Nav/Sirius unit, so I'm happy to hear good things about it. I also got the AWD model. I spend a lot of time up in Yosemite during the winter months and need the extra traction to get in and out of the park during inclement weather (and avoid chaining up when ever possible). I'm also looking forward to better gas mileage. As I indicated above, I am currently driving a 3/4 ton pickup at about 12 mpg. Are you getting 37 mpg with AWD or FWD? Have you done any mountain driving with it? How does it do on power, and how does it handle on winding roads?
  22. Received my VIN today! I ordered an '09 MMH from a small dealership north of Fresno, California, on 8/4/08. Called the dealer today, 9/29/08, for a status check and received the VIN. The dealer told me the vehicle is scheduled to be built the week of October 20th. Unfortunately, Viperpilot is no longer offering a VIN tracking service, so I'll have to rely on the dealership for updates. So far, they have been very responsive to my requests for info. Looking forward to picking it up. Hope to have it by early in November!
  23. Congratulations on your new ride! Four months is a long time to wait. Glad you finally got it! Thanks for your comments and observations. I've had an '09 MMH on order for a month now and hope I don't have to wait another three months... Again, congratulations!
  24. Thanks for the shout-out, but I'm not "The Guy" for car stereo systems. I use to work with a guy who put together the system in my previous vehicle. I know just enough about them to get myself into trouble, but not enough to get out of trouble. My best advice is to consult with a reputable car stereo shop. Having said that, I can point you to a few in-dash units to start with that may meet your needs. They are all quite $$$, but you're going to spend some serious coin to get what you're looking for: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Ite...tures_and_specs http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Ite...tures_and_specs http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Ite...p=526&avf=N More here to browse at your leisure: http://www.crutchfield.com/g_182350/In-das...p=526&avf=N (I'm not promoting Crutchfield, but their web site is a good place to see what is available.) Once you have consulted with someone who knows what they are talking about and decided on an in-dash system, you are going to need to spend some more $$$ on a quality amplifier (or two) and speaker$. If you're into good sound and spend $$$ on a high-end in-dash receiver, it doesn't make sense to hook it up to non-amplified stock speakers. Hope this helps. Good luck and let me know what you end up with!
