  1. I would really like to see a Lincoln Coupe to compete against the CTS Coupe and the European Coupes. A sedan in the same general segment would be awesome too. Really I just want to see Lincoln be competitive with some company other than Buick and Acura, if its competitive against those.
  2. I have a 1999 Ford Explorer with the usual 4.0L SOHC v6 and just noticed that the tachometer has no red line marked. I've been noticing that it doesn't want to shift under relatively hard acceleration and started wondering where the red line was.
  3. A heard on the radio today that Ford did some kind of a test to see how far a new Mustang can go on a single tank of gas. They went to Bristol and evidently with stops only to switch drivers the car complete 1460 some laps of the half mile circuit. When the math was done that came out to be more than 48 MPG. Can anyone corroborate this or give me more info?
  4. I can concur with that. My friend's '04 had some trouble but still kept up decently. Another friend's POS '91 showed us both up. Only marginally though. The guy with the '04 just got a '06 Jeep Commander so I'm anxious to see how it fares with the Explorer duo.
  5. I still attest that putting the Mustang, a flagship Lincoln, and Lincoln Coupe on the platform the Territory and Falcon use would be a good move. But what does a 20 years old know?
  6. Ok. I see your point. I just expected to see the 4.4 available by now since its been being talked about for 4 or 5 years.
  7. I really don't understand why car companies spend millions and millions of dollars developing technologies like the 4.4L and then scrap it in the late stages of testing. The 4.4L Diesel or another small diesel V8 (or V6) seems like it could still be a really good idea.
  8. Does anybody know if Ford's big SUVs are going to survive? There are still people out there that could use the towing and passenger capacity they offer. Even if the Navigator dropped down to the new Explorer size and used an adaptation of that platform the Expedition could still prove profitable especially if a small diesel V8 or 6 was available. I just hate to see these vehicles go the way of the big RWD cars (exc. Town Car for now) and the Excursion.
  9. Maybe this will point at a 2014 non-retro Mustang. I have trouble seeing a new Mustang without a retroish theme anymore.

    3.7L V6?

I recently read a Car and Driver Comparo between the new Taurus, Buick Lacrosse, Hyundai Genesis, and Lexus ES 350. The Taurus came in last partially due to the lowest power rating and highest weight. Is there any chance the the new 305 hp 3.7L making it into the Taurus like it is in the upcoming Edge. Maybe the updated 3.5 in the 2011 Edge would do the trick.
  11. The NA market needs a truck smaller than the F150 that much is for sure. I don't understand why they wouldn't use the T6 here. Under the ONe Ford plan there's no excuse to not bring it here. The F150 is getting to expensive and with the CAFE getting more strict soon the T6 is the only viable option. Its ounds more and more like Ford is going to dump the market share to Nissan and Toyota which will leave me driving a 99 Explorer for the next 20 years.
  12. A quick sketch of a new GNX. RWD ala Camaro or some Holden twin turbo 3.6L DI V6 400+ hp
  13. Its been a while since I heard anything about the on again off again US T6 Ranger. Are we getting a new compact/ midsize pickup in the near future or not?
  14. Remember that this Ranger is a global truck. Not every country holds trucks to the design standard the US does. Last I heard it was off again. But plans change all the time.
  15. If it was built here, maybe 10000 or less. If not 16000 to 20000.
  16. Either would be a really good idea. The Taurus version would work as a possible Ranger replacement/ alternative. My dad would probably buy one as he doesn't a truck for anything but commute and the occasional yardwork in the form of carrying brush to the back yard. Give it a bit more ground clearance and presto. fwd/awd ranger. the focus version would just be really cool, especially with a EB 2.5L rated at about 300 hp and 6 spd. man. It could even spawn a modern courier which would probably sell.
  17. The Mustang rode on the fox platform for 25 years so why not keep it on the current one for a longer period than normal. If no suitable RWD platform is coming it may be more cost effective to update the current one and spawn Lincoln and even Mercury cars off of it. If those models take off then a new platform will be cost effective eventually. I thought that a platform that could be FWD, RWD, and AWD was in the works. I may be up in my sleep though.
  18. I heard that the 3.7L was supposed to take the base engine slot in the F150. A long while ago I also heard that a Ecoboost 2.5L was to do that also. I think that the 3.7 is more logical. I have always wondered why Ford opted to use the 4.2L instead of the 4.0L SOHC as the base F150 engine. The 4.0L seemed to have more power but maybe it was because of the lower torque number.
  19. I've long wished for a new Bronco and my view of them has changed over the years. First I wanted a two door Expedition or Excursion. As gas prices rose, the concept looked really good. Then gas prices fell again and the idea of an F-150 based Bronco sounded good but with the new CAFE a two door Escape with more rugged looks would do just fine. I would prefer rear wheel based four wheel drive but as a person that has driven an Escape, it wouldn't be bad. Good job on the chops though.
  20. Doesn't the Taurus weigh over 4000 lbs. And if i remember right, the flex is something like 4800 lbs. the 3.5 would probably do fine but cost way more than current 4.6.
  21. What's wrong with the Mustang and Explorer and F150 4.6L? Heck even the 5.4 would work perfect. It they want gas mileage, get a Fusion.
  22. It wouldn't be the first time that a car company used the name of an out of production competitors car. Lincoln Continental... Bentley Continental. Albeit these aren't competitors. Here are two sketches I made of my take on a new Lincoln Flagship. I like the first on better myself.
