  1. You could have easily referenced the 3 rd generation Taurus. "The oval disaster"....... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Taurus_(third_generation)#/media/File:96-97_Ford_Taurus.jpg
  2. At the end of June Cars Direct reported there were barely 700 Tellurides listed for sale nationwide while there were over 20,000 Ford Explorers and 12,000 Honda Pilots on dealers’ lots. When the Telluride debuted in February 2019, Kia set an annual production capacity of 60,000 Tellurides at its only U.S. production facility in West Point, Georgia, where certain trims of the Sorento and Optima are made as well.. “We blew past that and ramped it to 100,000 units,” Bell told The Car Connection. Meeting demand “is going to be tight even at 100,000, but it’s the best we can do.” https://jalopnik.com/kia-vastly-underestimated-demand-for-the-telluride-suv-1844293702 I'm expecting the new Escape to go down in flames/sales wise. And with the Explorer we will never really know now the the Police Interceptor isn't broken out. But Kia has a good problem-if you are going to have problems.
  3. Yep-and that's exactly what wrong with it. A vehicle made to appeal to at least two groups of previous car buyers....and it really doesn't do it well.
  4. So-yes you are saying they are correct on the NVH. I'm going to say it now-the new Escape is a horrible vehicle....just horrible. Ford really messed up on this one. It's like the "Oval Taurus" of it's day...only arguably worse.
  5. Let's see payload amounts before we get excited about towing figures. Will the "generator" lead to conquest sales-a few-but many already have the little Hondas and won''t buy a new truck over leaving the Honda Generator at home. What will be interesting is to see the package that includes the generator capability-will it be more than a small Honda generator? I'm thinking yes.... The RAM still has the nicer interior IMHO.
  6. It's evolutionary for the faithful-nothing ground breaking for conquest sales........
  7. Yea right. Look at Ford's March rental fleet sales and get back to me..........
  8. Isn't this the third best selling CUV in it's segment? They are not all sub-prime buyers.
  9. This is a valid point. The thing is that Toyota could make a big dent in the market if they wanted to. They are in a good position to lay as much "cash on the hood" as it takes-but they appear (for whatever reasons) not interested.
  10. They are going to sell a ton of these if they remain in business...................
  11. Maybe staying in the 5 passenger CUV segment means badge engineering the VW Atlas Sport!
  12. It is a "rental grade interior" at least in this trim model. Exterior is uninspiring. Final verdict-a vehcile made to appeal to three product segments-that doesn't do an adequate job of appealing to one.
  13. This is a Ford Board -I would expect any accolades for Hyundai to be "brushed off". Again-my previous post has shown sales numbers are about even for the Palisades/Telluride. So the grill (on the Palisades) appears to be a non-issue. BTW-many reviewers have stated the interior of the Palisades is a nice place to be.
  14. Agreed-no argument then when the GMC Sierra half-tons and Chevrolet Silverado sales are added together!
  15. The Bronco Sport is a different model-let's not add them in. Unless of course we can now break out the FORD (Explorer) Interceptor from the regular models.
  16. Well....I don't think Ford will sell any where near 450,000 new body style Escapes-so we can agree here. Even if they are counting on buyers from more than one previous Ford models. As a matter of fact-I will say that the volume will not even touch 300,000 units.
  17. The front end will be a "love it or hate it" situation. All their vehicles are getting the bold grill look. If you compare the "bold grill" on the Palisades-and then sales figures, it doesn't seem there is much distaste for the design language-compared to the more conservative somewhat boxy look of the Telluride. https://www.thekeea.com/telluride/kia-telluride-sales-figures-us/ As stated on here before (not by me) you have to give Hyundai credit for more frequent refreshes of their vehicles compared to some other manufacturers. I am not sure about the Sonata grill-but quite frankly find the rest of the sedan very nice.
  18. The point being if you think these vehicles either wont be "federalized" for U.S. roads in the future-OR the basis for electric vehicles in the U.S. (especially the batteries-one of the most expensive components) you are kidding yourselves.
  19. So much for bashing GM for imported "Chinese" Buicks. I love it when another sacred cow bites the dust.
  20. They did and you get the awful 2020 Escape...............
  21. I had two Contours with the 2.5 Duratec V6. What a GREAT MOTOR. I thought those were great cars. I guess I was among the few however.
  22. The above two posts are actually factual. There are even Ford enthusiasts on this site posting that there is a storm brewing.......
  23. Exactly-either this and do a little negotiating and get it for $5.00/month. I have had SAT radio from the beginning-and never paid full price. I am a retired (Industrial) sales person. So-I know how to negotiate. However-I do realize some don't like the process. But at the $14.00 to $16.00/month I am first to agree it's too much.
  24. Does Ford breakout fleet sales anymore for the Explorer and Escape? I don't know if this is true or not-but I read somewhere that Ford no longer breaks out the Police version from regular Explorers anymore.
