  1. oooh...I got an idea! Lets get this in the Crown Victoria (and a 12 speed automatic while we're at it) so it can be built forever....
  2. RJ, The cost of that tooling (the extra for North America) will be included in the initial investment....planned replacements are factored in and a mid cycle freshening similar to what Fusion went through is peanuts comparatively speaking to an entirely new design. It should sell reasonably well here.
  3. No....it is why I said "real" price gap with quotes....dealers are demanding (and getting) full MSRP on hybrids...while you can negotiate on a non-hybrid. The gap is greater than what you are showing. I really, really like the Fusion Hybrid....but sensibility dictated that I wait.
  4. The point is simple...when it becomes more affordable without a "subsidy" to buy it....it will become mainstream...until then, mostly greenies and tax dodgers are interested in hybrids.
  5. The "real" price gap of a Fusion I4 vs a Fusion Hybrid is between $5000 to $7000 depending on configuration...I wanted to get a hybrid, took one out for a test drive (and loved it) but in the end, it didn't make sense to spend all that extra $$$ for a return that wouldn't be fully realized for 6-7 years. In the end, I kept my 2006....we'll see what EcoBoost does. I did drive a Fusion with the I4 / 6 speed auto combo...it was nice, but I am used to the "snap" of my V6....hopefully, EcoBoost can change my mind....
  6. ...but the Honda faithful (aka sheeple) will buy it in droves and exclaim, "What a wonderful idea from Honda."
  7. The sad thing is that these rental queens usually end up in the used car pool hawked by the "auto mega mall" and "used car king" to an unsuspecting sector of the public that thinks they are saving thousands. These same customers are usually the ones that then go on to sue the manufacturer for not having these safety items on the vehicle in the first place after they have an accident, fueled up by ambulance chasing lawyers that use the same tactics as the "auto mega mall" and "used car king" in their advertising. A vicious circle that I applaud GM for trying to break.
  8. You may be thinking of the Wood Brothers and their field of Mercurys....
  9. Cell Block Technologies Inc. From their web site... Sounds like some sort of interface can be created to add this technology to any vehicle....simple programming code is required. I would love to see Ford incorporate this in their "My Key" system to ensure that the person using the car with the key would also not be able to text or call on the cell while driving.
  10. How about a device that blocks the use of cell devices unless it is routed through an approved vehicle device?
  11. Well, now that Ford has added the cancel button...I will vote yes...
  12. I hear what you are saying Richard, but my elderly parents bought a Mazda5 as it was much easier to maneuver, and my disabled father can get into it much better than the Camry they traded it in for.....and when they were shopping, they were selling reasonably well.....one dealer lost out since they wouldn't accept X-Plan on it due to the popularity of the car.
  13. And lay off the gimics.....I mean really, 60 day "money back" guarantee? That ranks right up there with the Chrysler (and now Hyundai) Gas Price Lock Programs, Chryslers' lifetime powertrain warranty, and Hyundais' and Kias' 10 year warranty that doesn't follow the car. Give me a good car that doesn't need to be fixed constantly (cough-cough....Camaro?) with a solid, well rounded warranty, a dealer network that doesn't want to rape me when I come in for service, and pride in American ownership....then you got me. Oh, that's right, Ford beat you to it...again.
  14. It's funny you say that, saw a used Crown Vic that was from a used car lot with dealer tags on it pulled over this afternoon on one of our notoriously patrolled streets....the cop car? Yeah...it was a Crown Vic too.... So goes that theory....
  15. As stated in another thread...my thoughts on this stupid gimic.... :hysterical: :shades: :hysterical:
  16. 2011 Mustang with a Lincoln motor....hmmmmmm, sounds like a good advertising plank. I think Ford needs to expand the use of Eco in the rest of the engine plans....what would a 3.5L/3.7L Duratec be like with gas direct injection but not turbo'ed...name like EcoDura...or just use the ECOnetic name from across the pond... ECOnetic for non-turbo'ed gas direct injection engines EcoBoost for the turbo versions What a way to spread development costs.....
  17. Well, at least (s)he would get their money back under the program....yeah, riiiiight
  18. They can build a new lineup with the Transit name... Transit Connect: Fords answer to the small van service market. Transit Econoline: Fords answer to the replacement of the aging Econoline of old. You would want EcoBoost I4 and V6 as well.
  19. According to Auto Blog it is indeed from GM, goes along with their new "Satisfaction Guaranteed" program. I have only one thing to add about this new promotion from GM...
  20. And lets not forget.... Fellas....I believe that Transit and Econoline can be merged....but when Ford does do that...they need to remember the Econo in Econoline
