  1. All the firmware up to date? I’ve had my 17 for a year and a half. Only once did that happen but not since I updated Sync. The time it did. I just shut it of, restarted and it was fine.
  2. My take: 1. Presentation- While much better than Expedition reveal, this was still sort of weird. It reminded me of a cross between an infomercial and an internal product reveal. Kinda hokey but they are making progress. Explorer- I like it. I honestly like the smaller screen but they aren’t bad. Honestly, function is more important than looks to me. The interiors will probably take some getting used to because it’s so different from what Ford has had for so long. I do like the look of the ST best. I can’t wait to hear about the hybrid I vehicle like this would be total overkill for me but if I needed 3 rows I would buy this over Toyota or Honda.
  3. I’ve got no problem with it, as long as the Ford family still controls Ford. As well as them being able to pull out if it doesn’t make sense at some point in the future.
  4. The twin scroll 2.0 is not that old at all. 2016 ish. They are currently up to 250hp (Edge). I think they can get to probably 265-270 without any problem. I think the torque has been limited due to the transmission. I don't know what the 8 speed is limiited to (the JV one).If they get the 2.0 up to 270hp/300lb/ft I think it should be fine.
  5. That may be the case but, if this is anything like the Expedition unveiling, they should just stick to the auto shows. I am hoping they learned from that horrible presentation.
  6. That has to be the dumbest time to roll out a vehicle. Right after dinner time so it will get lost in the news cycle. In my mind, this is how it should have went down. Access to press kit yesterday evening, with strict embargo policy until midnight EST. A press breakfast from 7:30-9 and roll out after breakfast at 9. Followed by some Q/A and discussion. I mean, I am by no means in marketing but that makes sense to me. That way, the initial press kit stories are released at midnight and people can read in morning as they get started. All the finer details get addressed at the press roll out along with some photo's and some impressions. Updated story at noon with the finer details and impressions. That way you get two releases or one and an update. Ford has the hardest time with these things. I guess my next question is why are doing this before the auto show? Do they want to unveil the Escape and GT500 there? Or will Escape be in Chicago? The only reason I ask is that this years show is a lot leaner on new vehicle intros. It will be a weird show compared to previous years that is for sure. I've gone to just about every auto show since 1989/90 (can't remember exactly....neither can my dad) and our first year we didn't bring a camera. I hope Ford/Lincoln has a strong showing this year.
  7. Anyone know when we will start to get the information? Is there a live feed for the reveal? What time does it start?
  8. They should but it doesn't always mean it happens. There are companies that piece all of this data together and they know everything about you. They do know who you are too! Especially with all the hacks of records, your phone number is tied to a name, which is tied to an address, which has an internet SP, which has all of your dns entries, so on and so fourth. Add to it that Equifax hack which was the worst hack ever but they brushed it underneath the rug like it wasn't that big but really it was everyone in their database. My biggest fear is what happens if this gets into the wrong hands? Black mail, extortion those sort of things. Putting away my tinfoil hat for now.
  9. I don't want to be the bearer of bad news here but I'll be the bearer of bad news It's too late! Everything you do is tracked already. You (or really several thousand instances of you) and your data are in Hoodoop clusters right now as we speak being analyzed. Those app user agreements that you click away on your phone to use an app, give these companies to do this. Comcast does it, all mobile carriers do it. Heck, even your tire pressure sensors have an identifier to your car that you are tied to. This is the downside of a connected economy. You accept it, fight it through legislation with a .0001% chance of doing anything, or become a Luddite. Even if you use a VPN online, your browser gives up enough information about you that they can identify you. I don't like it but if you have ever wondered what the term big data refers to, this is it.
  10. Good Luck! This is a proactive approach that I can appreciate. Keep us posted on how it goes.
  11. Yes, this is the case with a lot of OEM tires. Make sure you really check the product number/code to ensure you don't have the tire for the Tesla model (for example). Good tire shops, know the difference and codes. The GT350 is a classic example of this, the tire is a Michlen XXX and they specifically came out with a Ford compound under tire XXX for Ford. I think the tread looks the same but the compound is different. I usually do a lot of research before buying a tire so if you see multiple different versions of the tire say on tire rack for what you are looking for, then you probably will want to verify it's either specific for your model ( if that is what you want) or just the non model specific tire.
  12. I never understood the whole tick, rattles, and knocks syndrome. Mustang boards are weird places because the slightest issue causes the most chaos. Then folks go overboard and you really have 0 idea of it was widespread or just a few folks out of thousands that had the issues. DI has a distinct sound, especially at startup. I did hear there was a problem with the initial batch of engines but I thought it was the cylinder lining (plasma).
  13. That's a tough one. I would probably just expect the mileage penalty and noise to go up. You may want to pick the quietest one of those 4. It sounds like you need the performance though for safety.
  14. From what I've been reading, this may be the technology that kills cable internet and TV. If you have your phone, home, and car under one plan that makes sense. Speeds are going to be ridiculous for mobile. The big thing will be coverage area and if they limit the amount of data for home use to something too small of an amount (and then start charging overage). I could see this in a few years being a huge hit in densely populated areas with good cell coverage.
  15. I'm in a similar situation with my Fusion. I hate the Goodyear's that are on it. Loud, handle poorly, not good in the rain, and horrible in the snow. I will be changing them out in the spring with what I estimate will be 35k on them. I did a lot of research and am going with Michelin (Primacy). They are more expensive but sound like they are worth it. For your situation, I would try to see what you can find out there in tire test. I would take comments lightly, unless verified that they actually purchased a tire. Customer reviews are almost becoming worthless these days with fake posts. Tires are one thing I don't skimp on. I'm not rich but 100 -200 bucks for safety and piece of mind is worth it to me. I haven't been impressed with Goodyears as of late.
  16. If they make an ST version of this with 350hp, that would make a mean hatchback.
  17. So we go from station wagons and minvans. To SUV's to CUV's that pretend to SUV's. And now back to a slightly lifted more bulbous wagon.
  18. My first thought....Oh a new Focus Active. Hmmm this now makes me sort of understand why they are doing a maverick (mini bronco).
  19. Those quarter mile stats don't look correct. The V6 is 3 tenths quicker yet 14 MPH faster? That doesn't seem right at all. Also does it really take an additional 7.9 seconds to gain 16mph? This is why magazine bench racing kinda sucks.
  20. This needs to happen but big oil and it's lobbyist will make sure it won't because of profits.
  21. Wow! Since Thanksgiving I've been back and fourth between the Detroit area and Chicago several times. 93 is always on the gas menu. I buy virtually all of my gas at Costco, Shell, and BP and the most I've paid is 2.99 for 93. The lowest was 2.25 this past weekend. Chicago/Cook County has some of the highest gas taxes in the nation too. I will say I am kinda a nerd about my gas buying habits and keep track via fuelly. I also check prices with Gas Buddy (I won't drive more than 1-2 miles for gas unless we are talking about $1 difference per gallon.
