  1. I spoke to my local service advisor about this issue and he recommended waiting about 1,000 miles as the 12B37 is a complete re-flash that resets the computer. He mentioned "adaptive shift strategy" and that the car is adapting to how I drive. So, to me it is essentially like the car is new again. So I will wait the 1,000 miles. However I certainly wish that this was mentioned in my letter from Ford, dated May 2012 about the 12B37 "Customer Satisfaction Program". Had I known a little more I would not have been so concerned. I will keep everyone posted on what I find.
  2. Just had the 12B37 done on August 7th. Up until this point I have been completely in love with my little Focus. Seriously, I could not name 1 fault with the little car. My focus has made me question why I wasn't driving a ford before. That is a VERY big statement for me. Background: Car has 16,000 miles, August 7th service was an oil change (full synthetic), tire rotation (nitrofil), recall 12S29 (pass. wiper) and the 12B37 update. Issues found after update: Rough Idle and transmission surging. Rough Idle: I noticed the rough idle at the dealership exit and it has been the same ever since. I consistently use Chevron with Techron (89 typically, 93 every 4th tank) and even I tried a chevron fuel injector cleaning product still nothing has changed. It almost feels like misfires initially, then a real shake like engine mounts, tach is completely stable during this time. It happens when it is cold and hot, no change, does it consistently at every light while idling. Transmission Surging: I noticed this more as I drove the car in different throttle positions / rpms, it took a day or two for me to really start to pin it down. But oddly enough what was really noticeable was the air-conditioning surging at different speeds (had the A/C surge before as well but was very, very slight in comparison), then I keyed into the power surging. The surging is funny, it feels as if you are losing 15-20% of engine power when you are slowly moving through the gears in automatic mode. Really noticeable in 2,3,4th gears. The surging is matched by the erratic A/C pulses. 12B37 Is defined as "Reprogramming PCM-TCM-ABS Modules" well those modules are certainly not communicating as fluidly as before as far as my Focus is concerned. Perhaps the PCM and TCM engineers did not have enough time to completely sort the issue's with 12B37? As far as I was concerned there were no issues with the software that I had (build date sept. 2011). Sure the first 1,000 miles were a bit akward on rare occasions but that is to be expected. Nevertheless, I will take my car to the dealer this weekend to see if I can retro program my car. Hopefully that will sort things out and I can go back to enjoying my little car.
  3. Cyberdman, Thanks so much for the last update. Would you be able to let me know what is happening with my little car now? Thanks again! Rhonda
  4. ^ That's a real shame just to use this site for tracking. I find that this forum is informative and has some great members who are pretty dedicated. This forum seems more professional and non abrasive than other focus or ford forums. Just my .02
  5. ^ Great news guys! Glad to hear about the window stickers. Cyberdman updated me yesterday and my build date was bumped back to the 11th. No window sticker yet but it's getting closer!! :hyper:
  6. Cyberdman, Would you be so kind as to track the following information for me: Vin # 1FAHP3J26CL213947 Order # S01F Dealer # F24015 Thank you so much for your time, your efforts are greatly appreciated!!
  7. Glad to hear about the priority 1, shame they couldn't give you a little more incentive but it's understandable with a new product. Perhaps they can throw in rubber mats or a cargo carrier?? Oh, Murphy lives at your house too I see. Funny you mentioned that, I am driving a 96' Saturn SL 2 which is a family "loaner" during the week and wouldn't you know it the A/C just died... I feel your pain. I only hope that serious piston / valve damage wasn't caused in your case.
  8. Thanks for posting this aneekr, very interesting indeed. I will be interested to see next years study as I believe that the new Ford products like the fiesta, focus and explorer will position them much higher than their current rating. By next year almost all of the "bean counter" fords will be redesigned!!
  9. OMG!! So excited!!! I just got my Vin # 1FAHP3J26CL213947 and the build date is august 8th according to Ford customer service....So if all goes well I hope to have my new little car at the end of next month!! :happy feet: :happy feet: Just to chronicle my time frame for information on my order: July 13th - Deposit put down July 14th - Price quote "Dora" signed off and returned July 19th - Official "Dora" with Order # and Dealer # received July 28th - Vin # issued Happy-Happy, Joy-Joy!!
  10. I would have them reorder, give you a priority one and some more incentive ($$) as I would be gun shy to reorder with the same dealer. Out of curiosity, did they present you with the Dora sheet which you had to sign off on? At any rate, I hope the order get's rectified quickly for you.

  12. Wonderful post. I believe it is becoming the norm unfortunately and not only with Ford to be fair. I have been in the same scenario countless times with several manufacturers. I have to say I was very lucky with my Ford salesperson. He was fairly knowledgeable and got back to me with the information that he couldn't answer. He was also very considerate on the test drives (did a few to ensure this was exactly what I was looking for). Your point cannot be stated enough. Consumers are very, very knowledgeable nowadays and sales people are getting paid for their product knowledge. Lack of it is simply unacceptable. Ford really needs to step up to the plate with these new platforms, there are alot of buyers coming from all walks of life for these new cars and if they play their cards right they can steal plenty of market share. However you have to have adequately trained sales staff!
  13. Great solution! Now I know what to do should this happen to me. Thanks for the post.
  14. Wow! So sorry to hear about that 74stang! I would demand the DORA sheet. Then atleast you have some ability to actually track the order. Best of luck to you and your new little one! Hope you get your focus soon!!
  15. You were right it was a price quote. My dealer just faxed over the DORA - VEHICLE ORDER CONFIRMATION with this info: Order # S01F Dealer # F24015 Priority: 10 Status: Clean Unscheduled Order From what I have been reading from Cyberdman that might not be such a good thing. See below for reference. I wonder if anyone else has experience with Clean Unscheduled delivery times? 19.) If I give you a status and it is Unscheduled-Clean, that means you have a successful order in the system and it isn't scheduled (and who the hell knows when it will be - not me). There are a multitude of reasons something doesn't go right from that status to the line. It has to do with production schedules, plant availability, ordering priority numbers, where you live and that region / dealerships specific allowed allocation segments for that vehicle. I have seen Unscheduled-Clean status stay that way for weeks and weeks on end - even as long as 6 months depending on the availability of what you are ordering and speed of the plant, etc. etc. If I give you an update with that status, stop bothering me every other day for an update you won't get. From now on, when you are Unscheduled-Clean, I will provide updates no sooner than every two weeks, providing you bump your threads. IF you are upset about your vehicle being Unscheduled-Clean for an extended period, you need to work with your salesperson to try to adjust your order priority or find out what period your allocation unit is limited to. But in all honesty I am happy nonetheless :hyper: , the delivery times that I am now seeing seem to be much better since the late spring orders so I am sure I will be ok....
  16. I think your spot on and that's what I was thinking as well. I emailed my salesperson so let's see what I get back...thanks so much for your time.
  17. I agree with Mark!! Those are amazing looks!! The throwback to the 67' fastback is awesome!!!
  18. Thanks so much for your input akirby! Much appreciated. I was not sure if the correct order # was given on the my dora form. As my dora form had these numbers: order # 0000 (strange number I thought) dealer F24217 priority was 10.
  19. Don't forget that the liberals bailed out 2 of the big 3. If it was up to the conservatives we wouldn't have much to fight toyota with
  20. Hi Guy’s, I wonder if you would be so kind as to look over my post and let me know if this information is accurate. I have been reading up on following my new focus during the order and build process. Rather than ask everyone the same question fifty times, this is what I have been able to gather: 1. “Dora” sheet – Dora sheet is given to sign off on the exact options that are desired. Typically given or faxed to the customer within a day or two of placing the order. 2. Order #, Dealer Code, Priority # - Found on the Dora sheet.* 1-9 reserved for Ford executives, corporate use 10-19 customer orders 20+ dealer inventory The priority is assigned to the order up front before allocation. It's simply a way for the dealer to prioritize certain orders over other orders. E.g. the first customer order for that dealer each month gets a priority 10. The next order gets 11, the next one 12 and so on up to 19. When Ford pulls orders for your dealer, they get a list of all available orders (ones that do not have a material hold due to a parts shortage, etc.) and they're built in reverse order of priority so the 10 gets built first, followed by 11, 12, etc. until the allocation runs out or all the orders are filled. Then the dealer stock orders get built after that because they are higher priority.* 3. Allocation – Dealer allocations are done typically on Thursday’s. 4. Vin # - Dealer’s should have the Vin#’s after the allocation and depending on your priority. Times are ranging from 2 weeks to 4 weeks. If the dealers don’t have the Vin #, you can call Ford customer service at 800-392-3673, they should be able to give you the Vin # once it has been assigned. 5. Window Stickers – Should be available a few days to weeks after the Vin # is assigned. Window stickers can be found using the following link: http://researchmaniacs.com/Ford/TrackFactoryCarOrders.html 6. Build Date – Build date is on the top left corner of the window sticker. It is the large four-digit BLEND number. For example, if it appears as 120110426, then the build date is April 26th, 2011. The production date and ship date do not appear on the window sticker. 7. Tracking Info – Please read these rules before posting for tracking information. The tracking information is kindly provided to us by a fellow member, respect his wishes!! Post tracking requests here. Any corrections or applicable information would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance for your time! Rhonda * Information updated per akirby, many thanks!
  21. Simple solution for the Getrag Powershift tranny. Ask these people who are complaining if they like the gas mileage on the new focus. Then tell them that the transmission is an integral part of getting them their gas mileage. If they don't like it they should shut up. Sure the tranny "hunt's" but it is always looking to lower the rpms. It is completely understandable. They just need to accept it and move on.
  22. Great information and thanks for sharing!!
  23. Just wanted to say a quick hello as I am a new member to this forum. I just ordered my 12' Focus Ti Sedan in white platinum. I am extremely excited about this car as ford has finally done away with the old bean counter fords of the past. Sorry to past owners but this has always been my feeling. I am in Europe quite a bit with my job so I have been able to drive European fords and lover them! My cousin has a Focus RS and that car is amazing. So glad to see Ford bringing the rest of the world focus here. The Getrag gearbox, DFI are near and dear to me from the Porsche world so to have many of those features on my new car will be wonderful. Anyway, enough of my ranting. Here is why I am really posting: I am just starting to put a mods wish list together. I won't really be doing to many performance mod’s on the car except for the exhaust and the body. I say that now but.... I absolutely love the ST and I am thinking of putting the ST front bumper on my titanium along with the head lights with LED's. I know that I am asking these questions way to prematurely as the ST is not even out but I want to try to put some ideas and research together as I am new to the ford focus. The ST bumper seems to be pretty straightforward as far as fitment is concerned. So far it appears to be the same fender’s and hood, the air-ducting and radiator surrounds can always be modified. Obviously I can’t do this conversion until the ST bumper and ST headlights are available and I actually get under one but perhaps someone has a little more insight. Does the 2012 ECU have the ability to be coded for LED's? I am not sure what ECU ford is using on the focus but I am thinking a Siemens EMS SDI 3.1...maybe? Does anyone know if the ST will have HID headlights? I am hoping that Ford will offer the ST body work through Ford Performance Parts like they are planning with theFiesta which would make everything much easier for these mods but any information anyone can help me with would be great. Thanks!
