  1. Yes, but so was Dearborn Assembly when the Mustang moved to FRAP and it was converted to F-150 production as DTP. Not to mention the company is doing way better now than it was back then. It would have made more sense to hang on to Twin Cities rather than the money losing Behemoth that was Wixom.
  2. Is Ford really falling behind? They update their products as frequently or more frequently than Toyota does
  3. No, I know that there are Fords sold that way, but not through Ford Credit, and not at as high of a rate as some others, I'm looking at you Kia.
  4. Until the people with at best questionable credit default on their gaurenteed approval 7 year financing.
  5. I think you missed my point. I know Rawsonville and Sterling don't count toward the cap, I'm merely speculating on how things might change with the next contract based on what the classification of those jobs are.
  6. Where is production going to be added? I'm not sure of the status of the ROW plants, but in NA, there really isn't many places to add production without building an all new Facility. Makes you wonder if they should have mothballed Twin Cities instead of demolishing it.
  7. Thank you ice-capades, I'm glad someone on the dealer level can give us good insight on how things work on that level. It sounds like Ford has a transportation issue bigger than its production issues. I know that nationwide, there is a shortage of rail cars (and locomotives amongst class I railroads) which contributes to the delayed shipping times. I think part of the delays coming out of Flat Rock have to to with the city of Woodhaven's battle with Canadian National and their track that feeds into Flat Rock Yard. It's a single track that crosses over a major road and trains routinely block the road for an hour or more sometimes. They've been putting massive pressure on the Railroad and the State/federal governments to help that. Combined with the rail car shortage it's a perfect storm of fail. It's amazing they aren't building more Fusion S models, yet they're building more Focus S models than I've seen since I started working at MAP almost 2 years ago. Also, the new full size transit is built at KCAP, not OHAP.
  8. I'm amazed at how much power they can squeeze out of the EB engines with relatively few adjustments and no beefed up internals.
  9. We've been building some plug in versions for Europe on and off since October. Weird since the 2015 body for NA is different than Europe.
  10. I just had a similar thought. Could this be a precursor to that rumored C-Max Hybrid/PHEV replacement coming for MY2019? A dedicated platform certainly makes perfect sense in relation to that particular rumor.
  11. It might help Focus sales, I'm far less optimistic about the C-Max. The FE rating changed absolutely killed it. I doubt that unless the MCE for the European gas version makes it over here that there is a snowballs chance in hell it ever gains year over ever again.
  12. If the Fiesta inventory is sitting at around 20,000 right now, my guess is Cuactitlian is going to have to be idled for a while to trim that down. I've heard rumors at MAP over the past week that we will be idled for a few weeks soon if Focus and C-Max sales keep tanking. This report doesn't ease my fears at all, combined with the sea of cars just sitting in the holding lot not moving and then intrepidatious posting his month old car was actually build a year ago tells me there's still a TON of 14s out there unsold. My money is on MAP being idled for at least a total of a month this summer, maybe more.
  13. Which is why I was wondering why market share is even being brought up, when in the end, ATP drives profit more than Market Share does
  14. That would certainly explain why the Focus BEV didn't get a very thorough refresh for MY2015. Literally the only thing that changed is the tailgate, tail lights and rear bumper to accommodate the shorter lights. The front clip is entirely unchanged. I thought it was strange but it makes sense now.
  15. I completely missed that. Why is market share being brought up like its the end all-be all again?
  16. What if he's just been trolling us this whole time? I would laugh
  17. So 1/2 trades? Or is macining something entirely different?
  18. Right, I'm not trying to insinuate that it's an overnight fix. However, now that the business side of Ford has shown it can be consistently profitable, now might be the time to at least consider setting aside some resources for a plan like that.
  19. I like it, its a vast improvement over the outgoing model IMO. Its a shame I'm not the target clientele. I'm not the type of person to ever buy a luxury vehicle and I wouldn't want anything bigger than an MKC or Focus sized car anyway. Fusion/MKZ would be the biggest I might consider if the need ever arose.
  20. Say there's a series of different options presented to dealers with combined Ford/Lincoln lots. Option 1: Spin the Lincoln branch off to a separate lot, You can keep it nearby as long as it is a separate parcel of land. Offer a percentage towards construction and moving costs Option 2: Keep them both on the same lot with the same parcel of land, but treat them like completely different stores. Not like GM does with Caddilac/GMC where Caddilacs are sold out the back door, but there is a distinct difference between the Ford side and Lincoln side, and its all visible to passing traffic. This may only work with dealers who have larger lots and could expand their showroom or build a second showroom to accommodate. Again, offer a percentage towards construction costs. Option 3: Should the first 2 options not be feasible for whatever reason, Buy out whichever end (be it Ford or Lincoln) the owner of the dealership feels is best for His/Her business.
  21. What is the classification of those jobs at Rawsonville and Sterling? Are they full fledged assembly workers or sub assembly? My thinking is that with the strike/new contract at Lear last year, they were able to eliminate the second tier for full fledged assembly workers, but not those deemed sub-assemblers. I have a feeling that might be used as the precedent for Ford when they come to the table to negotiate. In a nutshell, Ford might want to keep the parts plants with a 2 tier system while the Stamping, Transmission, Engine and Final Assembly plants have the 2 tier system eliminated. It would certainly be an interesting debate.
  22. That's the beauty of it, they don't have to force anything. Mind you, not every dealer has the resources to spin Lincoln off to a second, separate lot, however if there was some incentive on the table, it might be easier to pull off should the dealer choose to take the offer. What that might take, I don't know, maybe someone with experience running a dealer could shed some light on what that might take.
  23. And that's part of the problem. I wonder if there is a way to incentivize dealers to separate the Lincoln dealer from the Ford dealer.
  24. IUAW reps on the plant floor!? Now THAT'S funny. It's hard enough to get the local leadership out of their offices.
