Definitely not shift linkage, you would hear it as you're shifting.....
That's definitely not normal and you should probably take it to the dealer. Your warranty should cover whatever it is.

Sounds like shift linkage. If it's what I'm thinking of its just the metal parts rubbing together. It shouldn't be anything to worry about unless it starts getting worse.
