  1. I also know that would also be a huge cost to tool another plant in the event that MAP is maxed out on a 3 shift operation and can’t keep up!
  2. Can’t Flat Rock be used going forward??? Put in the tooling there. Are they not under capacity??? It sure as hell won’t be Oakville so why not use the extra capacity in flat rock when Map is maxed out????
  3. There is a rail blockade in Mexico so it’s possible.
  4. I just read on automotive news that there is a rail blockade by indigenous people in Mexico so that may also explain the current situation
  5. I have a question for you guys. Are any of your plants having any production disruptions right now because of the Mexico covid situation??? Up at OAC we’ve been running 10s since shutdown and yesterday we got sent home 8.3 on the b shift because they’re sayin we’re getting low on parts because of Mexico. Word is it may be like this for the next little while. I heard looms are in shorter supply amongst other things.
  6. That’s true different products will appeal to different people. We will see how it plays out. Glad you’re enjoying your Escape.
  7. That’s certainly a good theory. This Bronco hysteria is great for FOMOCO in these covid times. In the Mulally days having small cars was more feasible according to the market at that time.
  8. I believe that the Bronco will galvanize some sales from Edge Explorer and Escape forsure. I’m probably just stating the obvious anyways. If I had a choice between a Bronco Sport and an Escape I would take the Bronco Sport.
  9. Say what you want about Mulally but I believe he did an excellent job in that time period to begin Ford’s turnaround plan at that time.
  10. I’m sure you guys will have a great launch. Ford cannot afford to mess this up and you MAP guys will do a fantastic job!
  11. Ford should just keep on rollin out the Interceptors! We know there are rogue useless poorly trained officers out there, what do the vehicles have to do with that? Im sure Ford will ignore that foolishness.
  12. The Escape needs a redesign already. Its bland as hell IMO, FOMOCO can do better than that.
  13. What you’re saying makes a lot of sense I wouldn’t doubt if it plays out like that. We all know that Ford wants concessions forsure, this covid-19 mess helped them in a big way. They were already coming for concessions this just bolstered them even more.
  14. No I mean Ford using the we have a exit strategy lingo in the past. Anything can change with them. Look how they moved the electric crossovers from flat rock that they so called promised. I was surprised when I heard they will be built in Ohio.
  15. You’re right also we aren’t maxed out probably won’t be for awhile.
  16. We have two shifts man. We just lost our third shift in body and paint January 2020. Trim and chassis are ruining 8 hours at the moment. Body and Paint is 8-10 hours, pre-covid main plant was doing over 8 hours per shift on average and body 8-10. The Canadian dollar is low compared to the mighty greenback, if you’re basing this on Ontario and their electricity costs your argument has some merit. When the truck plant and ST Thomas assembly closed they were one shift operations and we knew they were in trouble. This is all contractual Sabre rattling, that is my belief. Oakville all of a sudden in trouble running 2 shifts?? Like I said they will use covid and the billions they will lose as a result in their contract position. I know the FOMOCO playbook all too well. Last ratification meeting in 2016 we heard the union leadership talk about the moving threat from Ford. Here we go again.
  17. The last contract they threatened to move the edge nautilus to flat rock so what you’re saying is spot on. Every one of the last few contracts is a threat to move production out of Oakville. That’s what Ford does.
  18. I first seen the article on Automotive News Canada. Then on a few other sites, then on CBC news. Ford spokesperson shot it down saying they intend to stay in the 5 seat passenger suv market whatever that means. Yes Oakville is a big 5.5 million sq ft flex plant since 2006 when they merged Oakville assembly plant with the former Ontario Truck Plant. So they get rid of poor selling flex mkt in Oakville. Then Fusion Mkx are going focus gone. I’m sure other than so called fusion active and ford courier compact truck on the way they have some other offerings. I know about e two BEV crossovers. Wonder what else is in there pipeline
  19. Isn’t the ford courier and some ford transits slated for Mexico????
  20. Ford has something up their sleeve which they will reveal after the unifor contract is done. Whether it is to screw us over or invest in Oakville again. I’m not under the impression my plant is in jeopardy but who the hell knows. Nobody knows anything at this plant, only rumors. Word is there is nothing allocated to Oakville after 2023 from our union leadership at local 707 unifor. I’m not surprised, also I really question if they will build all future Lincoln nautilus in China. Why the hell would they do that?? Build in China for China. Kinda makes me sick that all these companies just want to invest so much over there. I get the whole globalization BS.
  21. I believe the Edge is the 4th best seller in the segment.
  22. Thanks man, the Flex is a solid vehicle very quiet inside nice power even though the styling is unique.
  23. Ya we will see how this all plays out. I said it many times before I thought the contract for us up here would be a tough one then this covid crap and financial losses came into play. We will all know in a few months what their plans are for certain. Everything is subject to change at FOMOCO.
