  1. Thanks folks....I'm sure she and I will get accustomed to it. She is the main driver of the car. One thing I will say....I am pleasantly surprised at how peppy the 2.0 engine is at low RPM. And low RPM is how it will be driven. This old drag racer can do an across country trip, and probably never go over 3500 RPM or more than 1/2 throttle. At first I thought we wanted the 2.7. but here in Florida with no traction issues, I didn't want to pay for or haul the weight around of the AWD required with the 2.7. We have other vehicles, so am aware of engine smoothness, or lack of, but have no complaints with the 2.0. And it seems to get rather amazing fuel economy for a 4200 lb vehicle. Not quite ready for an EV, but like idea of being economical with fuel. And even though the 2.7 is rated within 2 MPG of fuel economy to the 2.0, to us....that's 3 extra trips per tankfuls on our daily rounds. The way we drive it. FWIW, I drove a blown 700 HP Mustang for many years, shifting at 7000 at strip, and a 1100 CC Suzuki motorcycle. So I have had my auto thrills. There is no way to make a 4200 lb FWD vehicle into a performance car anyway, so am more than satisfied with this little hi tq engine for mostly Florida use. And being the tight wad that i am, this new standard Nautilus with only the Nav, power steering wheel, and garage door opener package is all I wanted to pay. Would hsve liked some forward radar or camera views, but just didn't want to pay for that.
  2. It won't stay disabled more than one ignition cycle. So not practical to constantly turn off every time you crank the vehicle. Guess she will have to get used to it. How durable are the starters on vehicles with this feature? Would think all this "starting" would eventually wear on the starter and related parts.
  3. Two days ago, got my wife a 2022 Lincoln Nautilas from local dealer inventory at X plan. Simple deal....like in the past.
  4. BTW....Parks Lincoln of Lake Mary, FL (or Longwood) was happy to take X plan on a new 2022 Nautilus in stock 2 day ago. No extra's required either. $75 dealer fee and X plan. Otherwise is MSRP plus $899 in dealer fee. Pretty straight forward transaction. Great dealership. Locl Ford dealerships wouldn't do it.
  5. My wife just got a 2022 standard Nautilus with premium package and 18's. Rides great. (Once I got the pressure adjusted). For her the 2.0 L turbo engine is more than adequate. She (Me) didn't want AWD, so was pleasantly surprised at performance of standard engine with 8 speed auto. It is considerably more "peppy" than her previous 3.5 Edge with a 6 speed auto. This little engine has 280 ft lbs of torque at a low rpm. To me....the main advantage of the 2.7 is the dual injectors, where you probably wouldn't have to worry about carbon build up with port injection washing the intake valves. BTW....If we lived in hilly country, or in mountains where you lose power with altitude, would probably have a diffeent view on engine size.
  6. Called the local Central Florida Ford dealership where I bought my last Ford product, and was told their current policy is NOT to accept X plan to order a new vehicle. Is this everywhere? Or just around here? Or just the one I called? There are a bunch of other Ford dealerships not too far away. I understand the reason. But no consideration for an old customer? Not in a hurry, didn't mind ordering and waiting while one is built. Have bought all my Ford vehicles there since my first 1966 new Mustang. Disappointing.
  7. You might want to see if you can buy it at lease end, and then immediately resell it for a profit on a new model. Uses car values are higher than what was expected when you originally leased the vehicle.
  8. Posible carbon buildup. Don't believe that engine has dual injectors.
  9. Good answer....thanks for the explanation.
  10. Yes....but....without that contract....why would a dealership sell you one of their "prized" vehicles at X plan when they probably have people lined up to buy at MSRP or higher?
  11. Here it is September 21....and is any dealership accepting X plan on ordinary vehicles....Escapes, Edges, Explorers, etc? Out of inventory or ordering? I'm an X plan buyer and figuring to buy something around end of year.
  12. Just turn the boost up. Make whatever HP you want...at the expense of engine life.
  13. I was over at the Lincoln dealership today....and they had a Corsair sitting there.....standard with a select package (believe that's how they described it), took it around the block. It was a very nice driving vehicle. Engine smooth enough. 2.0 FWD. It runs nicer from the drivers seat than it sounds from outside....in my opinion. Definitely a 4 person (at most) vehicle. But a nice size for someone looking for a vehicle to run errands around town. Not big enough for a family vehicle, which is why I like the Nautilus size, but that Corsair was an impressive vehicle for it's size and competitive price. I think my wife would like it for her personal use. I notice there is a factory 2" receiver option.....looks far better than some U haul add on. My 70 year old wife (with both total knee replacements) likes to haul her E bike around sometimes with a bike rack that slides into a 2" receiver hitch, and ride our paved trails.
  14. I will at least drive the 2.0 in a Nautilus. Give it a tryout. I recall some years ago....when I was at the Lincoln place having another of our vehicles worked on....and they gave me a loaner for overnight. It was a black MKT livery vehicle. Looked like a big black hearse.....but was all they had on hand. I drove it home.....power was OK, engine ran fine....but had a unexpected sound and feel. Not what you would expect in a luxury vehicle...though I had no particular complaints. Wasn't a 3.7 V6 for sure. Popped the hood....and that big old limo had the 2.0. Some kind of small run of special vehicles I guess. But have to admit, engine in that big old heavy vehicle had adequate power for town driving.
  15. Thanks for everyone's replies. My wife likes 2 row SUV's with comfortable and roomy back seats....that's where she usually rides on trips. That's mostly what she likes about her Limited Edge. With it's smooth 3.5 V6. That and the fact her 2012 Edge had been a terrific vehicle, and the only thing that went wrong in 9 years to the day is the module that controls the NAV and dash went out at year 6 ($1000). Even the original tires lasted 60,000 miles. Now it's getting close to time to replace it. I've already decided I'm not paying $50,000 (or so) to buy a vehicle with a 4 cylinder engine. Would rather keep 1000 shares of a $50 stock than do that. The car loses half it's value in 3-4 years, and other might go up. However....she still wants me to buy her a real nice car.....So I guess I'm back to a new top of the line Edge....which has a nice comfortable interior, or Honda Passport...which also has a roomy second row...and which has a nice smooth 3.5 SOHC V6. And it's also a nice vehicle. But like many of you, I've been mostly loyal to Ford for many years. Decisions, decisions, .....Fortunately....I can do whatever she likes.
  16. Is there much extra regular maintenance with AWD? Live in Florida. Never needed AWD.
  17. Thanks....We think the 3.5 in our Edge is about the right power for our use and for being in a car. Wife never uses the top half of the tach anyway.
  18. Wife is interested in a new Lincoln Nautilus. Don't live in mountains or haul heavy loads. Our 2012 3.5 Limited Edge is now 9 years old. Getting about that time to let it go. 2.0 engine seems to be in about everything. Don't want or need AWD that comes with 2.7 in Nautilus. Would love 2.7 in RWD only. Thanks
  19. For lots of folks....their vehicle is an important part of their life. Couldn't get along without one, and for some....it's part of who they are (or wish to be seen as that way). And some of us have too many vehicles around. Don't really use them much. But just in case, we keep them around. I have a 8 year old Ford Edge with 65,000 miles. Perfect condition. Freshly waxed. Garaged 100% of the time. Interior and exterior paint looks just like the day I drove it home from dealership. (all this care doesn't help value much). Not one thing you could fix or spend money on. It's lost at least $25,,000 (or more) value over these 8 years. The $40,000 I spent would have made another $12,000-15,000 or so if not spent on car. That's over $400 per month depreciation plus opportunity cost. Also bought nice new Michelins at 60,000 (original tires were great), plus repaired the dash controller, and regular service....also serviced trans and cooling system. Only thing not done is it still has original plugs and brakes are still good. Insurance probably averages $60-70/month. That brings costs to around $500/month over this 8 year period.....close to what a lease for 3 new ones w/b. Funny how that works out. And I wouldn't be near as picky about maintaining a lease vehicle. I could make about 20-25 UBER trips per month for that. And get some garage space back for projects. And still have a CRV and 2008 Mercury Milan at home to use if necessary. or lease a big old vehicle for vacations. That's my point. For some people, we don't need to own vehicles like we did in past.
  20. I also have a 2012 Ford Edge Limited. Bought it new. When 6 yeas old....had the same issue. Just past the extended 5 year warranty on part. Weird. It was the controller for the dash (can't remember the exact name). Local Ford dealership fixed...about a $1000 for part. Only problem ever had with the car. Have you done a master reset on car? Also....bought SD card for Nav one time off E bay. One of the ones supposedly for my model and year. It made the dash act crazzy. Bought one from Ford, was fine.
  21. To me...the real question is how much longer will Americans keep buying any luxury vehicles? My grand kids don't care about cars. They ride buses, commuter rail, and take Uber. They don't understand my generations love of the automobile. They just want to pay for the part they use.
  22. It seems to me...although Ford says no more sedans.....the design of their crossovers and CUV's, SUV's, etc....look a little like tall sedans....just not called that. The styles are merging.
