  1. Hello choskj55 sir, Ford Escape PHEV is available in SE, SEL, and Titanium trims. Your salesman's statement that "Escape PHEV would only be available in Titanium trim" is false. As you mentioned, it looks like Dave Sinclair Ford in St. Louis is the first dealership in the U.S. to have an Escape PHEV shown with actual vehicle photos on its website. Scarsdale Ford in New York has a couple Escape PHEV SEL according to its website, but no photos. 2021 Ford Escape SEL Plug-In Hybrid in Scarsdale, NY | New York Ford Escape | Scarsdale Ford
  2. New Lexus NX finally dumps the touchpad. The new generation Lexus Interface multimedia system is controlled by voice command, screen, and/or knobs/buttons.
  3. Ford has undergone a cultural change that makes them less likely now to keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again, something they became well known for. Hopefully Munro will do a complete teardown and profitability analysis on Mustang Mach-E soon.
  4. Incidentally, Motor Trend's minivan comparison test 6 years ago also had Kia at the top with its previous generation Sedona/Carnival. The Big Test: Minivans - Chrysler, Honda, Kia, Nissan, and Toyota (motortrend.com) 5th Place: Chrysler Town & Country The long-in-the-tooth Chrysler is tops in sales but last in our Big Test. Still, the T&C is a great value and shows promise for the future. 4th Place: Nissan Quest A comfortable cabin isn't enough to overcome the Quest's lackluster crash-test scores or driving dynamics. 3rd Place: Toyota Sienna It doesn't blow our socks off subjectively, but it's tough to argue with the Sienna's stellar efficiency and performance. 2nd Place: Honda Odyssey A long-time MT favorite is still a segment standout and excellent hauler, but it's not our Big Test winner. 1st Place: Kia Sedona A van with this much style, substance, and safety might be all it takes to make the minivan cool again.
  5. Kia Carnival? It acts like a minivan and does so very well, despite Kia Motors America's attempts to confuse U.S. customers with the term "MPV".
  6. Good points AGR sir. I agree that from a sales standpoint, Maverick is unlikely to be a massive hit. However, professional reviewers' initial impressions of the vehicle have been mostly positive which is beneficial to Ford in terms of brand perception. The biggest thing about Maverick is that it demonstrates Ford can design a product that's a good value - both inexpensive and appealing to customers. As mentioned earlier, it's the best example so far of Jim Hackett's design thinking taking hold at Ford.
  7. Motor Trend comparison test for 2021 and 2022 minivans in the U.S. 2022 Kia Carnival vs. Chrysler Pacifica, Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna: Minivan Luxury Liners (motortrend.com) 4th Place: Toyota Sienna Pros: Standard hybrid powertrain, EPA-rated 35 mpg combined with AWD, practical center console. Cons: Engine noise, looks sportier than it is, dated-feeling infotainment system. Verdict: Amazing fuel economy and good storage, but poor brake pedal feel and lack of family-friendly features relegate it to this spot. 3rd Place: Chrysler Pacifica Pros: Good handling for the class, Stow 'N Go flexibility, high-res and easy-to-use infotainment system. Cons: Lackluster interior material choices, the priciest, few showstopper features. Verdict: The driver's choice, but its eye-popping MSRP and segment-trailing materials mean this former segment leader has been passed by the competition. 2nd Place: Honda Odyssey Pros: Quickest in the test, has hill-friendly shift paddles, best third-row access. Cons: Outdated infotainment setup, front-drive only, third row somewhat difficult to raise and lower. Verdict: A really good all-rounder, surpassed only by the greatness of our winner. 1st Place: Kia Carnival Pros: Incredible value, long list of thoughtful features for the whole family, upscale styling. Cons: VIP seats don't move for people and cargo, no available hybrid or AWD, ride is a little too plush. Verdict: Big value, tons of comfort, attractive looks, modern tech—the list goes on. The Carnival shakes up the segment.
  8. That's fair ice-capades sir. Since this thread is on 2022 Maverick, and the engine options for that vehicle are 2.5L hybrid and 2.0L gasoline, I will only reference those 2 engines from now on within the thread.
  9. As mentioned in the '21 May Sales thread, the 1.5L 3-cylinder engine is compatible with the "rough and tumble" image of Bronco Sport. For Escape, it doesn't work as well.
  10. Chevy Trailblazer is in the subcompact crossover segment, one level below the compact crossover segment that Escape occupies. Maybe customers for the smaller subcompact vehicles, whether in U.S., China, South Korea, or Europe, are more accepting of a 3-cylinder engine compared to customers looking for larger, more expensive vehicles.
  11. Looks like Lordstown Motors won't be a F-150 Lightning competitor anymore unless it gets access to capital very soon. Lordstown Motors Says It Doesn’t Have Cash to Start Commercial Production - WSJ
  12. Yes sir jpd80, for sure. Compared to the 1.5L 3-cylinder that's the current base powertrain in Bronco Sport and Escape, the 2.5L hybrid is much better in every way. Consumer Reports tested 2 2020 Ford Escape SE vehicles. One 1.5L and the other 2.5L hybrid. The hybrid had a road test score 9 points higher. That's huge considering the only major difference between the 2 Escapes was the powertrain.
  13. Yes sir jpd80, I think so. In the U.S. market, Ford trucks, SUVs, and crossovers have a better reputation than its passenger cars (other than Mustang and hi-po versions). Also, Ford is off to a good start in the BEV segment with Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning. Now that the uncompetitive passenger cars that Ford used to sell are gone from the lineup, customer perception of Ford can only get better.
  14. Yes sir PREMiERdrum. Maverick is probably the best example yet of Ford applying the "design thinking" principles that Jim Hackett brought to Ford when he became CEO in 2017.
  15. Yes sir FordBuyer. As slemke mentioned, it would be nice if in the next 2 years, Ford transitions Escape and Bronco Sport to the same setup as Maverick. 2.5L hybrid becomes the base engine (1.5L 3-cylinder is dropped) and 2.0L turbo remains optional. Then, with the next generation for all 3 of those models, go all electric.
  16. Stellantis announced that it will transition Fiat to an electric vehicle only brand by 2030. Fiat Will Be All Electric By 2030 (autoweek.com)
  17. Because minivans' versatility is unmatched by any similarly sized and priced crossover vehicle for hauling people and cargo. They make a lot of sense for people with more than 2 kids, 2 or fewer kids, or no kids.
  18. I think almost everyone who buys a Bronco Sport with 1.5L engine will be ok with the level of engine noise and vibration. As T-dubz and Car and Driver said, these customers figure that it goes with the overall theme of the vehicle. There have been some comments on this forum and others that Ford should offer the 2.0L engine on trims other than Badlands. But for Bronco Sport it seems that those people are more interested in the increased power from that engine than the improvement in NVH.
  19. Toyota's infotainment technology has features similar to most other incumbent automakers. Fortunately, the 2 Toyotas mentioned in this thread don't use that stupid touchpad that some Lexus models do. Don't know if the new Lexus NX will finally get rid of that system.
  20. Most non-hybrid engines in compact crossovers nowadays are not that great when it comes to power and NVH. The 2.5L turbo Mazda offers on CX-5 (Carbon Edition Turbo, Grand Touring Reserve, and Signature) and the 2.0L turbo Ford offers on Escape (SEL and Titanium) and Bronco Sport (Badlands) are easily the best.
  21. Norway May 2021: Ford Mustang Mach-E instant leader in market up 75.8% – Best Selling Cars Blog As mentioned in the article, monthly sales numbers aren't meaningful. Still it's nice to see an American designed Ford vehicle top the charts in Norway, I think for the 1st time ever.
  22. Yes sir T-Dubz, the "rough and tumble" image of Bronco Sport aligns with the 1.5L 3-cylinder engine's high level of noise and vibration. Car and Driver said in its review of Bronco Sport Outer Banks, "the grizzly and gristly engine note sounds right at home in something this butch."
  23. China's government loosened its joint venture rules for foreign companies producing New Energy Vehicles a couple years ago. Tesla's Gigafactory 3 was the 1st entirely foreign-owned auto assembly plant in that country.
  24. Best thing would be for the federal government to get rid of what remains of the chicken tax completely. Tariff rates on trucks and cargo vans should be the same as for passenger cars.
