  1. I see the maverick being 4 door only. I’d guess it would start at the same price as a ranger extended cab. Comparing a 4 door ranger ($26,800) vs a 4 door maverick would then show you an acceptable price difference. I’d also guess the price of the next gen ranger will increase too.
  2. I enjoyed his contributions too. It was nice to get a bit of “insider” info every now and again.
  3. I think there’s barely a market for one subcompact, much less 2 or 3.
  4. https://www.motor1.com/news/419918/hyundai-santa-cruz-leaked-photo/ body looks pretty good. I thought they’d tone it down a bunch from the concept but apparently they didn’t.
  5. CHR - 10k sold, $21,295 base price RAV4 - 97k sold $25,950 base price HRV - 19k sold, $20,820 base price CRV - 71k sold, $25,050 base price Soul - 20k sold, $17,490 base price ecosport - 13k sold, $19,995 base price escape - 48k sold, $24,885 base price Looks like this size vehicle is good for 80-100k units a year. Compared to 200-400k for compact SUVs. Having 2 vehicles in this category doesn’t make any sense. Replacing Ecosport with puma might be ok, but from what I’ve heard, it’s more premium so it would cost more. If it cost more, then it would be more expensive then it’s competition and closer to the escape in price. If it stays the same price as the Ecosport, then ford probably wouldn’t be making as much money off it.
  6. Honestly, I don’t even know why they offer the SE. the hybrid is only about $1,000 more, and you get better engine, better wheels, and better instrument panel. The digital IP makes you feel like you are driving a much more expensive vehicle, so it’s easier to over look some of the escapes lesser qualities in the interior. The black wheels help the exterior look a bit more sporty, and it sounds like the hybrid drivetrain fixes my biggest complaint (besides it’s looks) of all the noise and vibration from the 3 cyl. for “bang for your buck”, the sport hybrid trim on the escape is probably one of ford’s best values.
  7. pic of 2 of the sports grilles. Also that cyber orange appears to be yellow.
  8. Isn’t the Ecosport also manufactured in India? That probably helps it turn a profit (I’d guess a small one). Subcompact suvs aren’t as popular as other size vehicles either. If you have kids, you aren’t looking at one of these. They are probably a bit more popular in urban areas with lots of small parking spots and single people. I just don’t see the need for vehicles that small.
  9. Courier sounds like a car your mailman would drive.
  10. im not sure what this would be. There was a business case for the previous gen excursion. The super duty was larger than the f150, so it made sense to build a larger suv based off of the super duty (I also don’t think the expedition xl was around back then but I could be wrong). Now that the super duty and f150 share the same cab, there isn’t that size difference to justify a new suv. Could it be a more off-road oriented expedition sized vehicle (similar to escape and bronco sport)? I don’t think it will be in the bronco family. Bronco excursion is too much of a mouthful to say. What else is left for it to be?
  11. I hope ford uses some of the bronco sport reject names (maverick, scout) or comes up with something new instead of using courier or ranchero. i wonder what design direction they will go with it? Ranger? Bronco sport? Something completely different? i actually really like that ranger grille they are using in the render. Can’t wait to see that on the next-gen.
  12. they offered the old ranger in supercrew in other markets I believe so it would be possible, but like you said, it’s already cramped in the back of a ranger, so I don’t see this being any roomier.
  13. Just using the bronco horse emblem does the same thing for branding. By identifying it with only the bronco emblem (just like the mustang), your telling the customer that this vehicle is something special. It’s not like your regular ford vehicle. It doesn’t wear ford badges. It has its own badge that sets it apart. That is why ford called both the mustang and bronco “Icons.”
  14. I would say 70-80% of adults would know the difference. Everyone happened to watch a certain white bronco driving down the highway back in the 90’s. People younger than 30 would probably have a harder time telling the two apart, but that’s just because they’ve never had one in production during their lifetime.
  15. The mustang and bronco are both “icons”. I’d say it’s ok if they get confused every once in a while. They kinda go together anyways. If I had the money, I wouldn’t mind having both parked in my garage.
  16. Id say Subaru is a regional brand and does well in areas where AWD is needed. Specifically the northwest, northeast, and Colorado. I couldn’t tell you the last time I actually saw one on the road around me. Unless they nail the styling on this thing, I could see it being another freestyle. What benefit will this provide you over an awd edge if they are priced right around the same? The edge is pretty conservatively styled as it is so does that mean they are going to make this more rugged then the edge? That seems hard to do with a wagon. With the bronco sport and escape, there’s a clear difference and you can tell what market they are after, but an edge and a wagon that’s roughly the same size would both seem to be in that middle area competing in the same market. just to refresh your memory, here is the focus active wagon. It looks terrible
  17. The bronco logo is arguably one of the coolest logos out there. It would be a shame to have it only be on the wheel center caps.
  18. I’m curious to see what changes they make when the headlights and the word BRONCO make up so much of the grille? I hope at least one of them looks similar to the gt500 where they get rid of the word bronco and replace it with the bronco horse logo.
  19. That would be cool, but it wouldn’t work. Just imagine all the dirt/rock/gravel that could get in there and jam everything up. Also if you get a good dent in the bed floor, that kinda messes everything up too.
  20. the Only thing ford needed to change on their tailgate was add the option for it to swing open like the Honda Ridgelines tailgate does. If it had that, it would be the best out of all the tailgates.
  21. Wasnt the fusion supposed to be one of those “white space” vehicles? I don’t consider a wagon a white space vehicle, even if it has extra plastic cladding on it, so I’m hoping this will be something different. A four door coupe with a hatch and a lift might be interesting.
