  1. as I was saying.."if you've got a problem, suppliers will put all their effort into helping you out. If you are short on parts, or something is down, they'll go the extra mile if you treat them well. If someone is treating you badly, you're not going to prioritize them. There's a hidden cost to bad relationships.". Nothing surprising about that view. What comes to mind...."you get what you pay for" as well as..."once you've beat up everyone on the playground, you have no one left to play with". I'm sure a lot of Ford's recall history is related to this subject. The article also does mention the "shake up" in Ford's global supply chain leadership so hopefully that will bring about improvement.
  2. According to the Detroit Free Press (5/24), the 23rd annual Automotive Supplier Working Relations Index..."which provides a window into the quality of relationships six major automakers have with their suppliers based on confidential feedback from suppliers reveals Ford has sunk "significantly" over the past year with its supplier relations in areas including trust, integrity and long term strategy. Story goes on to say that Toyota, Honda and GM have the best relationships with respective "scores" of 338, 331 and 297 with Ford at 219. Stellantis came in at 145. Article also referenced fact that..."Ford and Stellantis are notorious for beating up suppliers on price"...... Story goes on to say that John McElroy was "shocked" that Nissan beat Ford at 225. He went on to say .."Good supplier relationships lead to higher profits, even if you are paying a little more for whatever suppliers are selling you. I
  3. Guys, In the back of my mind wasn't that the way it was expressed years ago??
  4. 7M...Great post....as I've said on more than one occasion...."in due time" . I look forward to a pro electrification position that includes all the realistic power generation/transmission sources beyond wind and solar.
  5. Thx for explanation. I would say that gives GM some credibility anytime you can imply "Allison" had anything to do with your product. On another note, and speaking of 10 speeds, I was hoping to get a new Ranger to replace my 19 year old FX4 Level II. which my son bought new in 04 and then I bought it from him in 06 when they decided it was no longer a practical second vehicle. But I'm thinking as I had someone bugging me to buy my 117,000 mile truck, I would be better off to sell it now, with a cash buyer waiting and get a 30,000 mile F-150 that I would have little trouble selling when new Rangers had some production history. Well as it turned out I found a 2022, 150 built 10/22, sold new 12/22 and back in Fomoco Credit's hands in late March, with 8600 miles. I managed to get original owners name and got him to call me back and he said it was a great truck- contractor who spent a lot of time on I-90 going to jobs in western burbs.. Did not tell me it was a repo but did say he was driving a 2018 Silverado now..hmnn? In any case, 5.0 with 3:31 gears. Drive it with a light foot and it will run in the 1100-1400 RPM band. Who knows I may like that Coyote and forget about the Ranger a year from now. Picture of 19 yer old Ranger..always having strangers asking me.."what year is that? 6. Does the "Allison 1000" have any commonality with the GM/Ford JV 8/10 speed? GMC and Chevy advertise "Allison' transmissions
  7. Bronco6G posted Tacoma intro info tonite. Hate to say it but it will give new Ranger and the GM's a LOT of competition-unless you are a Ford /GM
  8. Isn't Toyota/Hino a big player in trucks on the world scene?
  9. "Monkey see-Monkey do" In any case I imagine your company has some sort of in-house system or you buy from a vendor?
  10. Unfortunately as I see it, a significant segment Ford has to compete in. May lead to one F series line..elimination of a separate F-150????
  11. Let's hope MT doesn't know what they are talking about.
  12. What about Supercab? Earlier posts said there would be one. Or is this another case of "monkey see, monkey do" as GM dropped their super cab.?
  13. AK, Again, put your Kool Aid down for a minute? You are preaching to the choir! Did current Ranger knock the shit out of Taco? NO! Forget about typical Ford owners. Isn't "conquest sales" the new buzz phrase? As for Maverick glad it is such a success..,.think its because of its Ford looks?? Sure, think maybe its price and lack of competition has something to do with that ? PS...why did I buy an STX as my "placeholder" until new Ranger has some "debugging" vs an XLT/Lariat etc? I like the plain jane Ford look of the STX!
  14. Amen..Santa Cruz will not be in same league as the Taco and the Colorado when viewed as Ranger's competition.
  15. Sorry I was way behind on this thread. I myself cast my vote for a four banger that puts out the same torque as a more costly V-6. Yes I know V-6 beats it on HP but I'll take the torque. Also have to say as a Ford diehard, I'm afraid Yota and GM will have all the excitement on looks alone as the Ranger by comparison will look dated . I myself planned on parting with my 19 year old Supercab FX 4 Level II when the new Ranger came out but then was resigned to the fact that by the time it is out and and has a significant shake down run, I'll be looking at June or July 24. So with RMD money burning a hole in my pocket I said..I'll look for a 30,000 mile certified 150 now, and then a year from now I'll have trade value vs. a 20 year old Ranger. Started looking for an STX on front grill appearance only and stumble across a '22 STX 5.0 with 8700 miles...Ford Credit apparently lost patience with original owner..and I did track him down, "No issues" ..he is now driving a 2018 Silverrado! So while this truck was a decision to give me piece of mind on my frequent drives to Cape Cod so far I am impressed. 3:31 rears so its amazing how it motors at 1200-1400 Who knows..I may forget about a Ranger a year from now. And as for 10 speed issues, this truck was built in Oct 22. So I'm assuming all the bad press RP 817 alluded to on the 10 spd variants is yesterday's news. And I would hope the fact the 10 spd. is now in 650/750, supports that fact. Sorry for getting off topic- related perhaps to what I see as a new Ranger, IMO will be a bland competitor compared to Yota and GM...hope I'm wrong. Stay tuned for numbers on Coyote/10 speed performance on my first trip to Cape tomorrow.
  16. To this old stockholder with quite a few shares, I sure do hope Farley was just being entertaining when it comes to his discussion with the young guy. Formula 1 is enough of an adventure for now...I'm sure Ford's base will be glued to their TV's when that debuts? First things first...in particular quality issues and keeping the current product mix competitive. Just got my latest Hagerty mag and flattering article on new Colorado with its 2.7 turbo four. Hope the new Ranger will be equally competitive...
  17. And seeing as we are speaking of Hino, just thinking about their class 8 announcement...how many years ago? But I'll say this much..they seem to be doing well here in central, eastern Mass.. I know what the sales figures show but my observations on the road say otherwise. I thought their shutdown for how many months would be very good for Ford and maybe make it tough for Hino to bounce back but I guess not.
  18. Bad Post 7M.......will get to Farley,.... Plant Mgr gets canned and so much for that good idea.?
  19. Someone told me Penske had a major position in distributing Hino trucks.. This is old info going back to debut of the class 6/7 conventionals. Fact or fiction?
  20. Ah yes..one of Henry's better quotes..."you can haver it in any color as long as it's black!?
  21. Just another thought, in those pix of a Ranger lineup, they show a conventional cab. Wonder if that would be available here? Back "in the day" plenty of plain jane Ranger conventional cabs were sold...utility cos. (meter readers-admittedly a vanishing vocation), parts delivery "hotshots", exterminators-they want their poisons isolated from driver compartment etc. Back to the importance of the "Commercial Fleet", seems like there would be a place for a vehicle like this
  22. I think it was the solid front axle that gave them that look.Another good idea that just started catching on and Ford dropped it.
  23. LS.."Been there..done that" exact same experience. A real dumb move- huge old maple had gone down.main trunk is semi horizontal and I'm walking on it, even though had patches of ice..working on major off shoot and suddenlyI start sliding backwards, saw comes out of cut and in instant I let go of trigger saw hits my thigh-big puff of red! Wife did a good job of stitching it back together- the Carhartts that is?
  24. CH Hah..I do but I don't have leather "chain saw" chaps or whatever they call them, but winter grade Carhartt coveralls do a good job of slowing an idling chain before it comes to a stop.
