  1. The cost cutting approach has existed for decades. The Harvard "bean counters" almost put Ford out of business in the late '70's. Unfortunately, Ford never learns from it's mistakes and the problem and negative impact have only gotten worse within the past 5-10 years. The cost cutting leads to the customer perceptions of a lesser quality vehicle design, some customers go to the competition, Ford loses market share, existing customer are dissatisfied when the problems start to appear and the recalls are launched, Ford incurs the warranty cost spike, the profit objective is missed, the shareholders are hurt, the negative media play (biased or not) impacts the overall perception of the company, etc. Ford management thinks and acts short term, often as a matter of career preservation, and in inconsistent in following through on long term plans that would benefit the company, its customers and shareholders long term. And ever time there's a change in upper management, whatever long tern plan for vehicle development was in effect gets scrapped because someone has a "better idea" and the cycle starts all over again!
  2. Yes. A/X/D/Z Plan pricing is available at the time of order.
  3. With such limited production for at least the first year, it shouldn't take much for Ford to announce soon that production is sold out for the first year. The buyer niche for this vehicle is specific and interest can't necessarily be judged by media reports, hype, etc. including enthusiasts that aren't necessarily qualified prospects or customers for the Mach-E. Quite frankly, in my market the Mach-E interest is minimal if not close to nonexistent. We had one customer reservation early on but was cancelled less than two weeks later. And I have a stack of Mach-E brochures on display in our brochure rack and there's very few that have been taken since they were received from Ford. I'll wait and see what happens when we actually see the vehicle... whenever that happens.
  4. If a customer wants to change to a different Dealer, the reservation deposit is refunded, the customer loses their reservation and they start the process over in order to do the transaction with a different Dealer.
  5. The Mach-E customer has to select a Dealer to take delivery from. Ford then pays the Dealer a commission similar to what's done with A/X/D Plan transactions. As such, I don't know if Ford will allow a Mach-E to be ordered at a rural Dealer and then drop shipped to another Dealer for delivery.
  6. Ford's advertising requirements are very specific for the Mach-E and require a Dealer to include a VIN number in any advertising so that Ford can monitor compliance with Ford's policy. Despite the restriction on advertising, dealers can transact with the customer at any price they choose (at, above, or below MSRP).
  7. If you're looking for tracking information for your VIN number you can post a request in the "Vehicle Locator by Ford Employees" forum. Make sure that you read the rules before making a request. Your Dealer has 24/7 access to the Vehicle Visibility program that provides the latest status information for ever order placed by them. After having a VIN number for 3 weeks they should most certainly have the production week information. The estimated production week information would also have been available on the day that the vehicle was scheduled and the VIN number assigned.
  8. No impact. Your Dealer knows your order specifications and can best advise you on when your order should schedule based on allocation, commodity restrictions, etc.

  14. I can imagine them adding an output that would enable users to output the display to a laptop the driver could then put on top of the dash! Then we'll have the battle over who has the biggest display!
  15. There's a lot of incompetence at Ford and it's not new. Perhaps it's a method by design for job security but there are entire departments and divisions that are so badly managed it's makes you wonder who's minding the store.

  18. Yes. The 2020 Model Year is the end of the Continental until they possibly bring the name back on a different vehicle at some point.
  19. Per Friday's FDNB (Fleet Distribution News Bulletin) here's the updated production timetable for the 2020 Lincoln Continental. 07/31/2020 - 2020MY Fleet Final Order Date 08/13/2020 - 2020MY Last Day to Spec Change 10/30/2020 - 2020MY Balance Out Date
  20. Paint changes don't affect timing at all and the Mach 1 could be easily a late production item. So who knows what's causing the late changeover? Time will tell!
  21. With such a late changeover, it has to be related to much more than the Covid-19 situation. It would be easy to assume it's related to the Mach 1 but for this much of a delay I'd think that there must be more going on with changes for the 2021MY Mustang. I'm not expecting much actually and will wait until we hear more in a few months.
  22. Don't worry... Ford will be competitive price-wise but will set pricing as high as they think they can get away with, even if it means a reduced markup for their dealers to work with!
  23. 2020MY Mustang "Balance Out" date is 12/23/2020. 2021MY Mustang Job #1 Date is 01/04/2021. 2020/2021 production timetable will be posted as soon as it's officially released from Ford.
