I simply stated I had a Toyota as a free complimentary loaner on occasion. I noticed nobody mentioned that my FORD should have been built right to begin with. I have no problem pleasing the people that give me a check. However, I gave Ford a really big check for that truck and I haven't been very pleased. Anytime they had my truck for more than a week (which was probably 10 times) I was given a rental from Entiprise which didn't have Ford vehicles in their fleet. These were the orders given down from the regional rep. I usually found myself in a Corolla or some Mitsu SUV (Montero I think). I like how a lot of you are so quick to be pro Ford when they couldn't give 2 shits about you.
I can confirm that the regional reps don't give one flip WHAT kind of car the dealer puts you in. Once he, the dealer has made an offer to put you in a loaner car, the dealer and Ford is off the hook, as far as the regional reps/zone managers are concerned. You refuse what they give, you can go walk.

As far as Enterprise not having Detroit brands, that happened to me, right here in suburban Detroit. Took my '05 Montego into what was Stu Evans Lincoln-Mercury, now Metropolitan Lincoln-Mercury(on Ford Road, in Garden City, MI), body shop to get some parking lot paint damage repairs. They, the dealer reserved a car for me with Enterprise, who is directly across the fucking street from the dealer. I called Enterprise the day before to both confirm the reservation and tell them, point blank, that I had a meeting at Ford Research & Engineering (which, as a vendor, I really did), and I would only accept a GM, Ford, or Chrysler product. They said they can't guarantee it, but they would make the effort. 8:15 AM the next day, they got no Fords, no Chryslers, and the last GM was taken right before I got there. They wanted to put me in a fucking Kia Amanati. I told them "no fucking way", in those words, only to have the staff, and the other customers chide me on my obscene language. Fuck them. I told them get me back to the body shop office at Metropolitan Lincoln-Mercury. They were taking their sweet time, so I crossed a very busy Ford Road, in the rain, at 8:30 AM during the workweek, literally dodging cars.

Told the body shop manager, One, call Hertz down the street a half a block, and two, if they can't get me an American car, I want my Montego back, and I'll go to an independent body shop. Was told that they already, in thirty minutes, had my bumper off and were sanding off the clearcoat, and that Hertz could put me in a Mazda6. Since the Mazda6 is built in Flat Rock, I took the Mazda6. Would have much rather had a fucking Taurus.

Passed that Hertz this morning, a half a block west of Metropolitan Lincoln-Mercury, and all they got is Hyundai's and Mazda's. Enterprise, across the street is mostly Kia's. My Montego is in for brakes, and service gave me a two year old Mountaineer for a free loaner. Fortunately.

Back when the paint was being fixed and I was cussing Enterprise out, I faxed them a pointed letter, to their regional office, telling them they will lose my business if they can't guarantee me, right here in Detroit, a Detroit brand car, even if I have to pay more for it. Also told them, to better identify me, that I was the customer who cussed out their Garden City staff. Got a phone call, that afternoon, from the regional manager, telling me while they don't want to lose my business, and I've rented a lot from Enterprise every time my cars are being serviced, that they can not and will not guarantee any particular make. Furthermore, if I can't "publicly restrain (my) displeasure", then I'm free to take my business else where. "We (Enterprise) can not, and will not, accommodate unreasonable requests for a particular make of car, and there are not enough people complaining, like (me) in Detroit to initiate a policy change." Right here, in Detroit. Take that, Big Three fans. I'd like to say "fuck them", but if I get stuck, I get stuck. It may mean that I have to cancel my sales calls to Ford or GM if they stick me with a Non Big Three car, but I've already told them off, in person, and in writing, and got told to go play in the traffic. Don't know what else a consumer can do. If this happened to me, last year, right here in Detroit, what the hell do you think happens outside of Detroit?

You simply stated you want to shed bad light on your employer. 10 times ? I would check the Lemon Law in your state. As far as that Corolla, and Mitsu thing. It brings to mind a line from an old movie. It is better to be dead and cool Than alive and uncool. Call for a ride,Hitchhike, walk,or stop drop and roll. But never be caught in a Dork car. Ford did give one shit about you.Respond on Friday after check.

Go OLD SCHOOL and destroy their vehicle. If they get another one, destroy it again. There are plenty of 15 year olds that will vandalize a car for a few bucks. :)

Yeahhh man!!! that'll get the public to start buying Fords! Idiot.

I believe you are confusing Ford Motor Company with your Friendly Neighborhood Ford Dealer. Two different entities there friend.

And yes, it is something that the Company will have to deal with. Some dealers are better than others.

Sorry you picked a bad one. Hopefully, one day they will all be stellar.

Not trying to sell you on Ford, just hoping that you'll see where your problem actually lies.

The sad thing is that several things were replaced several times. I'm on my 5th AC compressor. The 1st 4 all went bad. I'm on my 3rd set of window motors. The window switches were replaced twice. I had the switch and the AC compressor go at the same time once in the heat of August. Computer has been changed, instrument cluster, Gem (I think) module, various switches. Several grounds were loose causing numerous problems. Regional rep has been out to look at truck 2-3 times. Couldn't lemon law it because it wasn't considered severe enough. I have two folders of paperwork documenting everything. Dealer won't take it on a trade.(tried in '04 and was offered $7k) I guess on the bright side my 6 year old truck has <30k miles because of all the down time. I just need to find some poor sucker that hasn't heard of carfax. That's why I wasn't very eager to demand a Ford rental/loaner. Believe me, if that truck had muffler bearings they would have been bad too.

Must have been when the assembly employee was either lighting a cigarrette, talking on their cell phone, changing the radion station, fucking around with their MP3 player or just plain hung over.

Another ASSHOLE talking out his ass. Or are you talking from experiance. Tell us how a line worker can cause 5 compressors to fail? Tell us how a line worker can make window motors fail? Oh I am sorry you are right, all those parts come from non-union supplier shops, so I guess your right they could be doing all of what you said. What a puke you are.

I know your wal-mart greeeter job blows but dont take it out on Ford employees.

It's shameful that people are vandalizing other people's cars (in a FREE country where doing that is ILLEGAL) then deriding people's lack of patriotism for buying foreign cars when their plants are shut down. Hypocrisy anyone? Seems to be that the American thing to do would be to leave this poor bastard's car alone and start building better ones while you're on the clock.

Has anyone bothered to ask WHY a Ford employee would choose a Honda in the first place? It's a small step but indicative of the bigger problem.

was it vandalised or are we just assuming...and it's an Odessy correct...Ford doesn't even make a mini-van anymore, and if when he bought it the Windstar was being manufactured i really don't blame him/ her in the slightest...and I sell em...Piece of garbage is putting it up on a pedestal......

Wow,your right on the money dipshit. Its a miracle that Honda has NEVER had ANY quality problems or recalls. Do you ever even bother to research any actual and factual information to back up that blanket statement ? Or do you just troll the Honda employees forums and take everything at face value ?

But no,lets here your "indicative" rational and data that supports the fact that Honda has no problems what so ever .No really,we are all waiting......... :reading:

p.s.- I dont wanna rain on your parade man,but uhhh Santa aint real either.Sorry.

Wow, I don't know where to begin...

I never said Honda (or anyone else) didn't have any quality problems or recalls. I never say Ford (or anyone else) had more. I don't know where you're coming up with this B.S. I didn't make a blanket statement to back up, so I'm afraid you're on your own there.

What may have confused you is my statement about building a better car while on the clock. Taken in context of the WHOLE statement (i.e. the American way would be to leave the poor bastard's car alone and build a better car while on the clock) it means that the best "revenge" in this case would be to build a better mousetrap. Make the buyer of an import brand sorry that he bought it by building a better product, not by slashing his tires, slapping a piece of bologna on his car or spraying brake fluid on the paint. That's shameful, as I've said before. You can agree or not, but it's pretty low of anyone to purposely destroy another person's property -- especially if it's because you don't like the brand of car they chose.

I'm not sure what kind of bullshit rally you were trying to get going here, but I suspect you'd have better luck flaming someone if they'd actually SAID what you are reacting to.

Its called implying. You are on a Ford employee website ,taking a stance against our thought on the subject of what solidarity and UAW loyalty means.

You have no clue what so ever what it means to belong to such a battle ridden union like the UAW. Brothers and sisters of the past have DIED and been beaten senseless by ex-felons that Ford hired to keep its workers in line. They fought, sacrificed ,bled and DIED for the rights and benefits that we have today as UAW brothers and sisters. And it is up to us as the current brotherhood/sisterhood to keep those sacrifices in the front of our minds when we choose to spend the money that our union fought to get us.

Imagine our soldiers overseas dying everyday for your rights. Would you raise a foreign nations flag before your own countries ? Would you swear allegiance to a nation that has ill intentions towards your country ? I would hope not. The UAW and organizations like it,are not your standard run of the mill groups. There is a rich history of struggle and gain in which we hold dearly. Is it perfect ? Hell no. But its OUR imperfection, and we deal with it the way we damn well please.

People who buy an import with the money that our brothers of past died and bled ,have no place at my table or the bargaining table. Kill someone ? Of course not. But damnit ,if they are willing to disgrace the hard fought battle of the UAW and all for which it stands ,then they can change a fuckin tire.

Since this is directed at me here is another one for you,I've been wondering lately,if you seal up the exhaust with a foreign object which blows first the head gasket or exhaust?.................don't be so gullible, you can't believe everything you read on the internet. At least DeanH had the sense to question the validity of this thread.I work there and I have never seen a Honda minivan in the parking lot.But if there ever is :stirpot: You would be surprised 99% of the vehicles in the lot are American. As for building a better mouse trap that is in the company's hands, most problems are not assembly related. If you had any experience of how a modern vehicle is built you would know this. One more before I go,the right thing to do would have been to leave his POS alone and kick his ass.Oh yeah thats not legal either.

Thanks to Len A for some support. I never said I wanted a foreign loaner. Sometimes after a 10 hour day in the heat, I just wanted to get home to my family. I have to question the integrity of my co-workers. Advocating slashing tires, turning over cars, and cutting brake lines is barbaric. No wonder the media portrays autoworkers in such a bad light. What about all the TPT/TFT's in Ford plants now that owned foreign cars when they recently started? Do you guys have a system as to which cars get vandalized?

BTW, since my 1st post my truck has flunked my state's emissions test and had the battery go dead but I'm still (trying) to drive a Ford.

I'm no NASCAR fan but I recently saw an interview where a driver said the Camry was the only US made car on the track. I thought that was interesting seeing how American NASCAR is. Makes you wonder.

You're right, it is called implying. But what you inferred was completely backwards. My question had a broader scope: If a Ford employee chose a Honda over a Ford (which he or she has some part in building or managing, hence the employment) what does that mean? I'm not telling you what it means I'm sincerely asking because if you know I think any energy spent vandalizing someone's car might be better spent correcting the problem that this brand disloyalty is causing.

Your soldier comparison is over the top, to put it lightly. But keeping it in mind, don't you think it'd be disgracing the very freedoms that the soldiers in your example are dying for when someone can't drive ANY brand of car to ANY job without fear of it being messed with? What if he/she was a soldier? Would you then feel bad or would their choice of automobile trump their military service?

Finally, I offer that I made no jab whatsoever toward the UAW or Ford or anyone -- I was merely trying to provoke some thought with a simple question. That and offer my $0.02 that screwing someone's car up is pathetic.
