DUCKRACER
Ummmmm.... That's an Cosworth AWD escort, and those things were tearing up the roads long before the STi's and Evo's were even conceived, there's guys in europe making over 500 horsepower with those things. There's a video online somewhere of one doing 200mph on a highway in Europe. I know a lot of people who pay good money for one of those, because they, like me, know what those things are capable of. The coolest thing is that the engine is mounted like RWD car, but it's still AWD. The only thing that needs fixing on it is the wing. This is also why so many fans of those cars here in the states have been hoping Ford would build something similar out of the Focus. The ST with the engine in S60R tune makes an easy 300 horsepower, mate that to AWD and you'd have one killer little car. Shamefully Ford will never buid one for us since they have no balls at all whatsoever... http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=103&i=7138 Edited March 20, 2009 by DUCKRACER

SkapeGote
Sup, know what would be a riot, take the Miata chassis make it slightly wider and longer, drop in a boosted 4 or a small 6. Hell take that 2.5l 4 and put it in there, if you could rwd it. 175 hp would make for a nice tuner car. Strip the interior to bare bones models for enthusiast, and more upscale interiors if you wish to pay more for sync or whatever. Could be fun. Ford Jellymoulds
FUN HAS BEEN BANNED RWD Fun might have been banned in Europe by Ford. Ken Block & Aussie Chris Atkinson WRC superstars know what FUN is - RWD Escorts. AUTOBLOG.. HOW MUCH FUN IS THIS THING? There are a lot of great racing choices out there for motorsports fans, but few offer up the excitement and showmanship of rally driving. Not many drivers seem to be having as much fun as Ken Block, as his YouTube videos and uncanny drifting prowess have fast become must see TV. For his latest video goodness, Block showed off his rallying chops at Team O'Neal's Rally School in New Hampshire along with fellow rally pro Chris Atkinson. To make the video interesting, the rally vets didn't hit the dirt in a state-of-the-art AWD Subaru. Instead, Block and Atkinson tried their luck in a vintage rear-drive 1978 Euro Ford Escort. Block actually owns the 31 year old vehicle and will be racing it in select events. The super 'Scort may look like a Daytona USA stock car, but it has plenty of modern hardware beneath its boxy exterior. Power comes courtesy of a sweet sounding 2.4-liter, four-cylinder Millington engine that kicks out a respectable 280 horsepower paired with a WRC-style six-speed sequential gearbox. Hit the jump to view Block and Atkinson having an absolute blast in a hopped-up Escort. We never thought we'd want a 1978 Escort, but Block's unlikely baby is as sweet as they come.
