I did price comparison with the Pilot and Acadia and the T-X came up almost $4k cheaper than the Acadia and $32k cheaper than the Honda ..

Also given the price of the T-X I predict the Flex will begin at $28,990

Bring it to Europe as well it looks a winner; it looks similar to the old Cortina estate car, l like the boxy shaped front end its so much of an improvement on the one boring dull bland generic same shaped front ends you get on all Fords in Europe at the moment. It could win back the sales that the Mondeo has given away to every other Tom Dick and Harry in its class. Open up a second production line Europe. I love the boxy high practical roof line a the back, the new Mondeo's Estate car is very unpractical it slopes down it wastes space, and looks like suspension has collapsed at the back. It would do well in retail in Europe.

You might be right. With the decline of the US dollar, it might be very competitive, and the 3.5 runs on regular.

I wonder how much it would cost to meet Euro collision and emissions regs. It might be worth it, to get a few out on the roads of the left-hand driving Continent.

Cortina's were fitted with mainly 1.6 & 2.0 Pinto's and they pulled the estate cars Ed, so l don’t think Ford would not have problem finding a different engine to fit. One of those 70 MPG bomb proof Peugeot Diesel engines would go down a treat with me.

Ford cosidered export of some of the US models (Taurus, Taurus X, and Edge), but ultimately decided they were too large and the D35 is too big of an engine (read too thirsty) for EU market.. plus of course they were not designed for any Ford Diesels, ..

Regardless, the next Edge will be sold in Europe alongside its MPV cousins Galaxy and S-Max ... by then Fusion and Edge will be fused onto the EUCD2 platform.

You and Ed would make piss poor "Engineers" you just give up and throw in the towel, most good "Engineers" would work around a problem, how did the excellent Ford engineers fit cross flows into a Cortina, Capri and Escort then swap them for Pintos later on? They did not give in like a loser would. "We cant do that". There is no such word as can't in a good "Engineers" vocabulary.

WTF? Please read the above CAREFULLY. It means that you think Ford would have a problem.

"so l don’t think Ford would not have problem"

I wasn't critical of the powertrain. The 3.5 V-6 should do fine by itself (especially a direct-injection version for economy), but I agree, a diesel option would be good. As for size, the Audi Q7 and larger Mercedes vehicles sell on the Continent, so I don't see a problem.

From the pictures, the Taurus-X looks like a great replacement for my Mountaineer...especially since the company suits didn't find it necessary to build a Mercury version. The only drawback from some of the comments, is the apparent smallish drivers foot well. I have a 2" buildup for the left shoe and that might be a concern for me. Guess I'll have to wait 'til they come to the showroom for a test fit.

As for the taillights, I don't necessarily like them either. Guess it wouldn't be too much trouble to swap them out for the 2007 Freestyle ones.

EHM ..

1) not an engineer here

2) Ford decided it was NOT WORTH THE EFFORT ,,, the Edge is NOT A CRUCIAL MODEL NEEDED in Europe .. ti was an option, and given the COST of making diesels and smaller engines fit in the car.. they decided against it ... instead they decided to plan for that for the future Edge (2013) ... which will be developed using GPDS ..

I do not see how that is a failure of the engineering.

Thanks for that Ed, you would make a good "Engineer" really l was only joking please don't take offence.

Judging by some of posts and replies you given in the past you show great intelligence. Ford only have to get rid off the boring bland styling in Europe, sale would just zoom its not rocket science, l just feel its letting down very good cars. It pisses me off to see the state Ford are in at the moment. But l am sure Alan Mullaly will turn things around at Ford. This Taurus has got winner written all over it and l like it.

NOT WORTH THE EFFORT because the Ford Transit profits are propping up Ford Cars in Europe, l can see why there is not much EFFORT with cars.
