no two tone roof on your SE

NO AWD ON YOUR SE

no moonroof of any kind on your SE

Vista roof only moonroof available?

if you want AWD you are forced to the SEL which is much higher priced than the SE.

i think the pricing has killed this vehicle as an option for me. chevy traverse will probably come in much cheaper. not much cargo room behind the first row, either. may have to go the minivan route after all since i clearly will not be able to foot the bill for an AWD flex. So the chrysler/vw Routan van or the Quest may be in the picture now. or get a taurus x now while you still can.

Thanks for the guide - we held on to our 2005 Freestyle an extra year waiting for the Flex to come out instead of trading in last year for the TaurusX.

I don't see any dates in the guide - did they mention when they can be ordered and when they will be delivered?

I agree with you. I was interested in the Flex once I saw it, but these prices knock me out the game. One lesson from Chrysler, price is an important factor in this segment (well...you are dealing with people with families) and I went kicking and screaming into a Grand Caravan. I know a lot of people who have moved away from their beloved Odyssey or Sienna because of the price jumps over the last few years. I thought this would be Ford's way to get a few of us back.

What type of vehicle are you going to get with AWD for low 30k with all the features? The Flex seats 7 and looks so much better than any min-van. Just remember that this is retail not what you can buy one for.

I think Ford is continuing to price themselves out of the mainstream middle America income. They are continuing to be a niche market player with all the special vehicles like the H-D F-150, various Mustang variants ie: shelby, bullit etc... People who actually have kids and a life with those kids do not want to shell out $500+ for a car payment. And would be happy with a safe but less standard options.

Take for example in the Flex here is a list of things that could be taken out to create a base model that could still compete with the Kia crowd.

auto headlamps (perhaps just when you turn on the wipers((saftey)))

painted handles (black is just fine)

chromed exhaust tip (no bling here)

Fog Lamps (usually useless anyway)

autolocks

keyless entry (perhaps just the keypad for locked in keys)

18" rims/tires (Holy cow batman I can't afford new tires!)

speed sensitive wipers (phhh I can do that)

6 speaker audio ( is this a dance club?)

compass

outside temp

apparently dual zone heat but single zone AC (what?) Just give me a knob dammit.--> cold/hot

auto up/down windows (LAZY....)

message center-->probably useless anyway I think idiot lites are cheaper.

electrocromatic rear view mirror. (Um ya again LAZY, oh the pain of reaching up and flipping the thingy on the mirror.)

Leather wrapped anything (save the cows!)

steering wheel audio.

illuminated "vanity" mirrors. (um should you not put makeup on at home?)

reverse sensing system (um lets just say Darwin is right sometimes)

Tire pressure mon sys. (Again LAZY, check your pressure twit!)

Wow, I think I just created a 22K Flex. Still has the usual power options but without the pork allot of people won't even know about until they buy the thing.
