igor
What did you here about t-bird? it was being considered under the GRWD program .. and was doing well in the review .. not firmly approved yet, though. I heard this from Wescoent - so bug him. igor Edited July 28, 2008 by igor
johnjyi
I think I heard about the T-Bird revival a while back. Here's a thought. Since Mercury is to include smaller cars that lead up to the Lincolns, how about the Focus Coupe-Cabriolet as the new Mercury Cougar? Just a thought. WC-MAN
If they are going to re-do the Grand Marquis and Crown Vic on the D2C, why not allow for a Cougar as well?

They aren't re-doing Grand Marquis and Crown Vic on D2C, so that pretty much ends that idea.

wescoent
Back in 2004-2005-ish, Ford designed a Thunderbird, Cougar, and Mark IX to be built from the Mustang's platform, but in the end, they decided to cut costs and not bother making it flexible enough for what they viewed as a limited market and very limited production capacity for Mustangs. As far as I know, these designs still exist, and have been reconsidered to go along with GRWD. RWD Cougar seems unlikely, though, given Mercury's new positioning.
