SVT_MAN
Okay - granted - that ad was not for American markets - but I felt that was a poorly done ad. For the first 45 seconds or so, you had no idea what the ad was about. It's okay to tease, but the car itself only got screen time of about 5-10 seconds. IMO, that isn't enough. Shouldn't Ford be showing off its asset rather than trying to show how clever and hip their ad agency is ?

F250
That's the point, its a teaser add. The objective is to get people's (especially young people) attention and have them wonder what this is about then show just enough of the car to get them curious. This is probably one of the first in the opening series of adds, future commercials will have more car time. I also like the "this is now...Ford" line at the end. Gotta say l agree with you the advert was very poor the first 45 seconds of a 1 minute advert of nothing it could have been a Baked Bean or Sony TV advert then the Fiesta appears for 5-10 seconds, Ford got very poor value for money from this. Poor ole Ford's brilliant design team and engineers that worked their butt off to get the Fiesta to the market place, and it ends up with a crap advert like this made by a load of overpaid ad agency staff - very poor indeed 1/10. Why not more of the superb Fiesta are the ad agency ashamed of the Fiesta?

A great teaser at that. Obviously SVT MAN and V8 Ford would rather have FOE pull a FNA disaster ala Flex. The Fiesta is still not available everywhere. pcsario
could have been a Baked Bean or Sony TV advert Yeah I mean, the guys who do those obviously don't know how to get someones attention either... "why don't they just make an ad showing the Bravias all the time and describe its features in detail? I mean... bunnies or paint? WTF, what about the tv itself? OMG Sony got robbed 1/10". Another gem from Mr. Euroclueless... go back to saying Kinetic design is bland and FOE should just build Cortinas again. Edited September 27, 2008 by pcsario
pcsario
BTW here's one of the teasers they did for the Mondeo, notice they used a similar pattern: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yjH4g2lLxAY Edited September 27, 2008 by pcsario
timmm55
Remember the Infiniti ads from their introduction? Rocks and pebbles or something. Those ads lasted forever (months) before you saw a car. This is an intro with a small teaser. It also fits into their online and I assume print advertising. BTW I loved the Mondeo ad. ANTAUS
I agree with SVT, the first 40 seconds is totally wasted. The generation of today doesn't have the attention span to wait that long to see WHATs coming up, A.D.D. is in full effect so unless they dont have medication, it isn't happening. I see it poor as well.

Very creative, great cinematography, and I live how the car is on the screens and once they split off, the car is there in the flesh. That was a cool ad. It showed just enough to make you go 'ooh! What's that!' It reminds of the Modeo placement in the James Bond movie 'Casino Royale'. There was a lot of "whoa, what kind of car is that?" in the theater. And that was here in California (home of the sheeple)! In America, a teaser ad like that would be cool, especially if said vehicle kept passing gas stations!

The Fiesta is still not available everywhere. How's the Flex a disaster? and I want a real world answer not your typical bs you keep telling yourself at night. Liek o-em-gee Flex didn't sell more than 4000 copies in it's first two months. Liek uh.. Liek.. what was taht word. Flop? What? pcsario say this be good. Then me say this good too. hehehehe this make canadian and rick angry. me have fun!

V8 Ford
Obviously SVT MAN and V8 Ford would rather have FOE pull a FNA disaster ala Flex. Wow a strawman argument and a red herring argument in the same sentence. I'm an engineer, I like things that are functional and straight to the point. So, no, I don't find animating TVs on the road for 3/4 of the ad effective; before they show the fiesta and the ford slogan, there's no way of even knowing it's a car advert. I especially don't like it because they have a very attractive and good car that they could be showing off instead. That’s just me. I’m not even in the right region for this ad to be targeted at me. The Fiesta is still not available everywhere. What a Ford Flex got to do with a Fiesta advert Dracula? Fiesta is still not available everywhere - Not a lot of people know that, what are you on Pissario? It's about time you got back in your coffin Princecess of darkness, and don't forget you can watch your first ever night Grand Prix today in Singapore and watch some rather fast RWD cars. A bit quirky, but it draws you in ! It might get them out of their French eco boxes in Europe, biggest buyer of the Fiesta at the moment can't see them warming to the advert much so Ford might lose a lot of its main buyers even though 99.9% buy a car because they would want it rather than an advert and the new advert will have mass appeal without the advert it very good anyway.
