She was making a speech. The fact that she said we should stand with the UAW and turn down the contract was a joke. First of all, the CAW, and the UAW contracts are different. Secondly and more importantly if you're going to support a union, shouldn't it be the CAW? Funny I didn't hear her say to support the GM/Chrysler members who voted in favour. There's a reason she wasn't voted into office.I'll tell you something tho...My advice to her, and any of you that hate this deal so much, and can't stand the crap anymore....Take the buyout in 2011 so you won't have to burden yourselves with this anymore. As for the contract, I didn't like the way that I learned that my job was eliminated, in "question period". I thought that I would still have it at least until the original contract expired. The other thing is cost of living. I don't mind giving up possibly 5% per year, but now we face the possibility of double digit, or even hyperinflation. Our whole wage structure will have to be re-negotiated from scratch. We should have capped the freeze at anything up to 5% inflation rate per year. Some people on the inside just refused to see it. It is a different world on the inside compared to the outside. An outsider can see that we are gradually being outsourced, and will eventually totally disappear. The public is prepared, and are practically calling for it. The first few years of retirement could go smoothly; but when double digit inflation or worse comes, a pension's buying power will disappear fast. I wouldn't be in a hurry to toss away a paying job. If you have top seniority, you will have the best chance to hang on. You will have to do some work, but at least you will not have to go hungry. He shook our plant chairman Scott Smiths hand right in front of me when he arrived and didn't even look him straight in the eye but bowed his head to the floor ,how's that for body language and yes he put on a great show up on stage. I just like to be prepared for the worst, just in case. Using your logic, why should I buy fire insurance on my house? I may never have a fire. Why shouldn't I put my life in the hands of the government? They have never gone wrong before, have they? We are on the knife's edge of too low interest rates, and printing money out of thin air to stimulate the economy. Printing money causes inflation and inflation requires higher interest rates. Something has got to give. Raising interest rates would kill any possible recovery. You can't loan money at a rate lower than inflation indefinitely. I know what we should do. We should give up our cost-of-living-allowance. Then maybe God will intervene and prevent inflation. He will be the only one to turn to when the shit hits the fan.
