toolmandano
Has anyone heard if rawsonv ille is getting the battery work, I thought there was going to be an announcement last fri and I havnt heard First I heard it was going to Michigan assembly, then early this week I heard it was given to Rawsonville. Good news if it is true, that is my home plant. Though I have never worked there I was transfered there and put in to jin the same day. Out of the 1000 jobs that product brings I would like to know how many trades and how many of each. My thoughts are they will fill those jobs with the $14 an hour people, hope I'm wrong. Pioneer
Is Monroe in the mix for the battery opperation too??? It could be. The soil is so contaminated from the plating operations that it would be hard to sell it. Although, I seriously doubt it will get it, I hope it does and the Union can get RTBU rights back to the members that had to leave there. jerrymaker
Can't hire $14 an hour people til all ILO is placed......By the time the battery jobs come available, there could be people ILO since the Rouge is loosing the Frame plant and Gas Tank Line sometime this year!.. When the ILO'ed refuse to go to the line or relocate, then what? do we wait for them to make up there mind.

toolmandano
Is Monroe in the mix for the battery opperation too??? Last I heard was Rawsonville is getting the work. I'm not sure about Monroe. Spreading the wealth is a good thing, however its slim pickings lately. My thoughts are that if Rawsonville is getting the job its doomed to fail right out of the gate. Rawsonville took all of Ypsilanti's money making jobs and ran them into the ground. Ypsilanti was a money making machine, tops in its class across the board and they still shut her down. Does Ford really want its North America operation? One thing for sure, they are trying to copy Chinas relationship towards their employees. milankid
Once they refuse, they are no longer considered ILO,they are considered gone..... Read in the det news yesterday cap is suppose to get 1200 and the first 600 r supposed to be given to the 600 on ilo, want happens if some of the 600 iloed ford workers dont take it thou??? Zone wide seniority is implemented. The higher seniority ILO will Bump Low seniority working in zone. Thw bumped low seniority will go to Chicago or go to inactive status. This is the way it was explained to me. Edited January 28, 2010 by louie
PFA
Just how did Rawsonville run the jobs into the ground? and how would you know, you are not even there, or like you said have never really worked there! COP runs more quality parts than it did over at Ypsi, less rejects. Same with Starter. These are all JUNK machines brought over and we were told to run them and make them work better. PLEASE. These machines have never put out more quality parts! Rawsonville took all of Ypsilanti's money making jobs and ran them into the ground.

Besides if the labor board was to find out a person would be in big trouble. You can't use that job in such a matter there are pages apon pages on the subject. It.s hard for me to believe that he don.t care about us anymore he is keeping the millwrights busy into converting the plant into a warehouse. Thats jobs for someone we have stuff from all over the country. They are almost done WHIPSAWING the battery job all over the place to see who will do what and at what price. IT will be like a awards show and the envelope please. This plant will do it at 14.00 and they will only use two trades MECH tech and electricians and the work rules well lets just say nothing comes without a price. So with that being said myrtle beach looks pretty damn good to me. This is not my FATHERS UAW anymore. I here tell of a local in ohio that said they would man the battery line with all displaced trades and they would fix it when it broke down just to get the work. The problem is the battery grant is in michigan not ohio or the envelope would be red and white. Well i guess we just need to wait and see its not over until its over

Yes and we all know rawsonville Reputation for Quality - tell me what happened to wiper motor ya I know big recall on those huh, oh well let that one go, know it a sore spot for all ya rottenvillers. What about die cast and Altenator ya you guy lost all those jobs all on your own Ypsi peeps had nothin to do with those. In fact if rottenville did get ypsi jobs you guys would have NONE! And as far as Coil on Plug for the amount you guys put out now is nothin compared to what we use to put out years ago remember coil on plug has been around for 10 yrs. or more oh wait you wouldn't know that either. The recall that you talk about for wiper motors was not the fault of Rawsonville's union employees, it was a mangement decision to purchase a part from an outside vendor that was the problem. In an effort to save money they went with an untested part that failed. As for die cast and alternator, all of the equipment for that product was worn out for years. Management would not put any budget money into machinery repairs or updates. Our proud union employees did the best they could with what was given them to work with. Don't blame them, blame the people that allowed this to happen.

It was an engineering problem with a grease, and they were told to run the parts anyway, ya maybe they could have should have but is toooo late now. As fas as blamin rawsonville, in no way do I blame rawsonville employees. I wish they could have kept there jobs cause I would still be there now. I'm just staten some facts. Ya there Products may have had age on them, But they lost them due to the fact they could make em cheap enough. And they were taken somewhere else. But I don't blame them. If they did the best job they could then they did! Ypsi people did the best they could to keep there jobs there too but it just wasn't enough. I think the books were stacked already.

SU-FI I am not sure what your local union told you but that is not the case. I was out that long and could bump no one from another plant. I finally was offered a temp posting at AAI but that to seems to be coming to an end.

The only way you can bump someone in zone is if you are forced to a job out of zone, then you can exercise your bumping rights and make the lowest senority person in your zone to take the out of zone job, then you take there job.

See we gotta go through this ALL over again. I thought after the big layoffs in the 80's happened that was the end of the moving, and shoveling. I hope we get placed in MI.
