Voo Doo obviously you do not get this thread at all, its about Applebees NOT toyota employees, its not about free meals for us its about some equal treatment by applebees and the like. I work hard as do toyota empoyees and I'm sure they are greatful for their jobs as well. But the thing is this Applebees chose to reconize toyota for all the good they do in the community and dont even mention the things that we do. So in my opinion and feeling I WILL NEVER SPEND ANOTHER DIME OF MY Ford/UAW money there again. Its your money or "salary" VOODOO you spend it where you want.

Thank you to those that support this!!

Applebees sucked anyway!!!

You say a lot of people have lost jobs. Have these Toyota people lost jobs? I think not. They are idled and guess what else, they have a supplement much like what we once had (GEN).

It's not about jealousy, it's about patriotism. To me, it is on par with how our own media is partial to the foreign automakers and quick to discredit the American counterpart.

I don't need to call, complain or explain my actions. I am an a American and I will support those who support Americans. My patronage to this establishment is over.

So by your logic the people who work just as hard as you, but for Toyota, are not Americans??? May be the Toyota employees call Eddie Bauer every year to complain that they don't get a discount at their local store like we do. Who knows, who cares, shop where your conscience leads you, but to claim that these folks are Un American is just stupid.

Of course they are Americans. Perhaps I should have worded it "American companies". If this is so hard for you to see, then I guess it really does not bother me if you call me stupid or anything else for that matter.

Wow you certainly have a low opinion of your Union Brothers & Sisters or are you salaried? If it's a sin to be offended by offensive behavior than I gladly will goto hell & if you were to read the damn thread you'd see that

we are informing people so they can follow THEIR conscience & not support a company who offended a great deal of us. Is it jealous behavior to demand equal treatment & respect? I would have thought that the Ford workers in Ohio & Kentucky would be particularly offended since this is happening in those states.

Wow, all this over a free meal who the fuck cares, Call your local union rep he or she is just sitting around anyway trying to

figure out ways to stay off the floor. Better yet call your congressman maybe he can draft a bill for you for a free meal.

You know now that I think of it didn't the government bail out 2 out of 3 auto company's last year ? I guess you you missed your

free meal ticket.

As I stated before, if you had read the whole thread instead of taking aim at just my post, it's not about a free meal . It's about showing the

same concern & respect for those in the American car companies who have suffered a whole hell of alot in comparison to Toyota workers.

Yes GM & Chrysler the company not the workers took a bail out but consider Toyota has had THEIR goverments support from the get go, so

dont even bring that into it. Don't want a free meal, dont think any of us do but we deserve the same respect as a fucking TRANSPLANT company &

it's workers do.

Emailed my local Applebee's with a message: Just wanted to let you know why the Claycomo Ford workers will be boycotting you restaurant and then I added the first post of this thread.

I don't understand this. Your local Applebee's is a franchise, much like a Ford dealership. This Toyota offer occured in Ohio/Kentucky. Why are you going to boycott a local Kansas City entrepreuner? I'm sure the waitress, cook, and dishwasher your business would have supported deserves to be boycotted over a promotion held 800 miles away.

Do what ever you want, but please realize who your decisions would actually hurt.

I'd go the other route, put together a piece that shows all the things that Ford does for the community and propose that local business tie in to support Ford. Look at your local support for Komen, diabetes research, food banks, education, Ford Fund activities. I'm sure many businesses would like to help support Ford workers, but they need help thinking of the idea. Odds are some waitress married a Toyota worker, suggested to a manager they have a support night, and they ran with the idea.

By the same token, hurting those you no longer patronize means you are helping those that you now patronize.

My take is a little different. I can vision the bean counters looking over the numbers and seeing a big drop in sales. They might then realize that the drop can be attributed to the plants not running (lunch runs and especially drinks after their shifts). So comes a brainstorm. Offer these folks a free meal. They come in, eat, maybe see some fellow workers. Maybe drinks start flowing?

Not a bad idea. But they are a national chain. What they do locally can have an effect nationally as this thread is showing.

I am certain this will at least raise some eyebrows at the corporate level and I would not be surprised if some kind of action is taken.

I contacted my local applebees & they told me to get in contact with head quarters. I've emailed them & am waiting for a response. I hope it's a positive response.

I agree with those who are concerned. I called Applebees and asked them why not let the Big 3 workers have meals? The concern is that Applebees considers Toyota employees to be more important to their business then the rest of American autoworkers. I for one will never walk into an Applebees again.

I used to get my haircut at Great Clips, but since I saw a Great Clips logo on a Toyota NASCAR, I will never go into a GClips again, nor a Home Depot for the same reason. Most people dont care about anyone but themselves, I care about our economy and jobs for our children and grandchildren. After all if I support Home Depot or Applebees or Great Clips I will indirectly be supporting Toyota!

Until our politicians both Republican and Democrats get off of the corporations dole, workers in America will be fighting a losing battle with the wealthy financiers whos money allows them to corner the markets and gain political clot. Its called "To Big To Fail"! Socialism for the wealthy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. While you are busy lining up who you want to boycott, remember that they can also line up who they want to boycott. Do you know who bought the last Atlanta built Taurus? Do you know why? Keep in mind that this is business who is trying to do something decent for the unemployed in their area. Maybe you would like to kick a few relief workers in Haiti while you are at it? The UAW needs to be a positive force in the world. I am not at Ford any more so I won't post again on this thread, but I know most of my friends there have better things to do than to be critical of anyone trying to help out the unemployed right now.

And you are more than likely unemployed because too many people bought a foreign vehicle my friend. OUT of work, unemployed, starving, eat your foreign car. Your friends at Ford are more than likely thinking the same way. I'm sorry the posters are right.

Thing is, they are not unemployed. They have their own version of the job bank. You know, something like the big three HAD and everyone was so critical of.

I wonder if all the other autoworkers boycotted HP when we all got free computers? What a sad post. It only shows

this once great nation has turned into a bunch of pussies!!!!

I have no problem with Applebees giving their employees free food, or even buying them a computer.

Ford offered computers (not all were free) to it's employees to boost technology skills among it's workforce. At the time, many older employees avoided computers and were not developing confidence with them.

Again, the issue is Applebees offer to foreign auto manufacturers employees while ignoring domestic manufacturers.

I can boycott Applebees like I boycott NASCAR, WAL-MART, the Dixie Chicks, Air America, or any other public entity I choose. Granted, Ford must carefully avoid alienating the vast majority of auto buyers and I suspect no Ford dealership could offer such a "limited" offer other than AXZ plans. All other offers subject to credit worthyness or other business-to-business alliances.

If Applebees had offered all auto workers a deal in response to the dramatic effect the economy has had on the industry, I would have no objection.

HP didn't give Ford Motor Company employees a computer. Ford purchased them for us.

Call me whatever you like, I have an opinion and was stating it.

Toyota vehicles are killing people. IMO Toyota sucks. Applebee's food sucks IMO.

IMO the ones in the wrong are the ones buying foreign vehicles and not supporting this great nation, but sending their American dollars to foreign countries.

Hmm, did'nt know that being offended by something offensive & showing said offense by standing up & saying something about it & boycotting made one a pussy.

Not saying something when offended & not standing up for yourself would make one a pussy. It's all about respect, & the actions of applebees just shows they don't

give a damn about the thousands of autoworkers for the American car companies who have been through hell. Where's the kindness, concern & the respect

for those in Ford,GM & Chrysler who've been laid off? Look at the big picture, it's not about a free meal. Perhaps you don't see the huge effect on the hammering the US car companies

problems have had ,but I live in Michigan & here, it's beyond words how heartbreaking it is to see. If you're not offended that's your choice but I'm damn well offended &

if in your opinion that makes us pussies. So be it. I'd rather be a pussy with some self respect than a door mat for Toyota lovers to wipe their feet on.

Listen this post has gone on way to far, over a good deed from Applebees. Anytime a company wants to feed American people

I am ok with that plain and simple. We have all gotten our fair share of free shit over the years from Ford and the UAW.

We have far bigger problems we need to focus on like getting profitable to pay off a huge note we took out to keep the lights on

that's why we didn't need the bailout money. And maybe you all haven't noticed our Government is spending money faster than

China can buy our debt . Maybe these post's should be about quality and unity and less about who's giving away a free meal.

All i can say about the Auto industry we did it to our selves you can blame whoever you want but, the simple fact is we took our eye off the prize. Toyota didn't become great we made them great by not listening to our customers and not building great quality

vehicles.

On a brighter note, I walked into the On The Border in Allen Park a couple days ago and was greeted by this signpost-32061-12674596564853_thumb.jpg. A lot of you probably already know about it, but I was happy to see support for our company. On The Border has great margaritas and great Mexican food if you've never been there.
