Roadrunner
slamming a car because it will never be the investment that the fabled first generation mustangs were is ludicrous. no car is an investment anymore. this is not the golden age of autos. they are all just cars. they are no longer "special" because the growth of wealth in the US says we can buy anything, anytime we want. Those cars weren't investments when they first came around though. <hijack> However, I can see some of these cars sticking around as the new wave of classics: - Taurus SHO's - Buick Grand Nationals (already a collector's item) - 2000-2004 Oldsmobiles, in general - Early 80s and mid-90s Mustangs. Not sure about the early 90s Mustang - Early 90s Toyotas and Hondas, Honda Accords and Civics especially (Honda has a more loyal fanbase) - Late 80s GM H-body cars ... maybe - Cadillac Fleetwoods and other large Caddys - Jeep Cherokee, much like the Jeep Wagoneer - and, I almost want to say, Chrylser's LH cars Edited June 4, 2006 by Roadrunner
BORG
Nice car! But who would spend this much on a Mustang when a vette will blow it away? Just asking!
rickm70
Nice car! But who would spend this much on a Mustang when a vette will blow it away? Just asking! Mustang is $50k Cdn..... the Corvette is $67,800 Cdn.... perhaps someone who doesn't have or want to spend an additional $17,800.... Maybe there isn't such a large price difference in the USA
Michael Reynolds
Nice car! But who would spend this much on a Mustang when a vette will blow it away? Just asking! Hate to break it to you but a run of the mill C6 coupe is not going to blow the doors off of the GT500, a Z06 on the other hand will but the cost of entry is approx $20K north of the GT500's asking price. BTW a C6 coupe retails for $44,490 in the states.
NickF1011
BTW a C6 coupe retails for $44,490 in the states. Do they charge extra for the self-launching targa top?
SMOKE
Do they charge extra for the self-launching targa top? That was good! Although the discussion on a historical perspective ... well , time will tell. We will see if this GT500 will command collector status in 20-40 yrs.
