My latest communicais with LCS: (by the way ..... Chelsea has been great!)

Good morning Mr. Schmitt!

Right now I am showing the vehicle is still in transit and is showing in Connellsville PA. Should probably be to the dealer in the next few days. I’ll keep an eye out and reach out to the dealer as well to see if they have any updates on when they should be expecting the vehicle! I’ll be in touch with you either later today or tomorrow with an update.

Got a call from my rep today. My update is that the new ETA is 4/15, original was 4/1. Was told there was no guarantee that the location could be given in updates.

Well, apparently what you get from the new Lincoln Motor Company has everything to do with finding the right salesman in the first place. I ordered a MKZ Hybrid last week (2/21) from an older gentleman who has been in car sales for 25 years. Found him back in December by calling and talking to several dealerships until I talked to someone who seemed to care. I told him I was interested but would only be sure when I could drive one. He kept in contact with me by email for two months basically telling me that everyone was frustrated but that the MKZs would eventually be here. He got one on the lot [a dealer order, not pre-order] on 2/20 at 10 AM. It was sold by 3 PM the same day but he held the car for me until the next day so I could test drive it. He even convinced the other buyer to allow this.
When I decided to order one he gave me the list prices, agreed to the discount I requested, spent 30 minutes finding the application for the Lincoln Maker Program and entered the paper work for that then entered the order. He told me that the deposit was $500 and that they had to fax the copies to Lincoln to prove that they were not trying to sneak in extra dealer orders by calling them a pre order. He said that if I did not mind he was just going to hold the check and not cash it since the deposit was fully refundable. Note: he still has my check and has not cashed it. He said he would keep me updated.
Now, today, one week later, with no urging or request on my part, I have received an email from him stating that the order is accepted and my scheduled build is the week of March 25. He also indicated he would send me the VIN number as soon as it was assigned.
It may take longer to get, the central office may be lying to him, and other areas of the company may make communication impossible, but the information is available to any salesman who wants to support his customer.
Not only do we love the car, the treatment has been first class.
Maybe this guy should give classes to the other salesmen.

It is now 12 days since I placed my pre order for a new MKZ Hybrid.
My salesman just sent me my VIN number for the car and a confirmation that we would receive the
"Lincoln Maker Program" prizes.
Customer service does work if you deal with someone who knows what to do.

OK, yes I do have a VIN and a build date -- March 25, but I am hesitant to believe it. If they gave me any ETA after only 12 days I would be totally amazed! Manufacturing in Mexico just does not work that way. To tell you the truth I would be totally blown away if I got the car before April 30.

Expect little and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Since the last post we have received the "Lincoln Maker Program" confirmation. A poster by some artist, and an offer to receive free sunglasses to use while driving. Our salesman has contacted us once or twice a week without any encouragement or request on our part. Two weeks ago he updated the build date from March 25 to April 4. Today I received an email from from him indicating that the car went into production today. He said he will contact me as soon as he receives further info and an ETA. In addition, I called Lincoln Customer Service to ask about the discounts mentioned on here and she said that those offers were targeted to specific individuals and were not available for her distribution. She did, however, give me an X Plan PIN number which I did not have before.

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? AM I IN A DIFFERENT WORLD FROM THE REST OF YOU??

I'm Chelsea's oldest file to monitor and she will be glad when my file is completed. Yes, she has been great and took my Lincoln bitching/bashing like a champ. I probably made her drink more after talking with me.

The X-plan is available through many companies as an employee benefit. You will need to provide proof of employment at time of purchase such as a pay stub or ID badge to qualify unless they change the rules. Since they have the power to change their own rules, it would be a nice gesture as it saves about $2000.

Yes RJ you are definitely different than my experience both with the intelligence of the customer service people you are talking to and the amount of activity you are having with your vehicle and the amount of data given by your salesperson. Congratulations!

My post at 9:37PM last night was in reply to questions from CharlesN (copied above) about the X-plan. Comments about his impressively proactive dealer were not mine. Sorry for any confusion.

Gave in yesterday and called Lincoln Customer Service. Spoke with a delightful representative named Pat who gave me her direct number and told me to call if I did not hear from her by this coming Monday.

She was empathetic, and apologetic, and was nice enough to say, yes, this was NOT done well. And my car is still living it up in Mexico. . . .

Well, yesterday about noon I received a phone call from my Lincoln dealer. It was my salesman telling me that the Lincoln Rep. was at the dealership and if I could come in that he would make sure that I would have some time to discuss the very long wait for my new MKZ. I actually sat down with the Rep. for about a 1/2 hour and he checked on my order and gave me a different VIN # (3LN6L2LU5DR808034). Evidently in November the dealer ordered another MKZ exactly like the one I ordered. I also was provided with the full history of both cars. The one I had ordered in September 2012 has been sent "offsite" five times and the last time it returned from offsite was April 3. They both showed to still be in Hermosillo. The Rep. took my contact information and said that he would pass it on to the LCS people and I should be hearing from them soon. He also told me he would be contacting me this coming Tuesday afternoon to make sure that LCS had in fact contacted me and that I was satisified. Hope this all finally gets resolved.

Ordered September 2012, built Feb 5, 2013, delivery 4 April 2013. (8 Months total) Car was delivered in outstanding condition. LCS called on 3 April to inform me the car was at the Ramp in local delivery area. Upon further discussion, he said it had arrived April 1 at the ramp. Upon taking delivery, salesperson said it was delivered to dealership on 3 April, but he was not working that day so no call to me was made from the dealership. In any case, I have possession of the car and will now get acquainted with the various communication and technical features. Did notice the dash defroster vents reflected in the windshield, message center words and numbers to small and you have to be careful where you rest your hand on the stack or you will surely either touch S or change the climate control. The touch areas are very sensitive.

I do hope there are no other people waiting for their car that was pre-ordered before production began in January 2013. If there are, you have my sympathy. I do want to compliment my LCS contact, who called me weekly and kept me informed of the car status as best he could. Time at dealership to take possession was 3.5 hours and I didn't finance.

Will check in periodically to give an operational report- Now I need to get familiar with the car and compose a constructive letter to Lincoln.

John, you seem to be a very detail oriented person, you have noticed a few things that I hadn't seen reported by anyone else. For this reason, I want to ask if you have noticed something that is driving me nuts. All the advertising on TV and also mentioned in the manual and brochures, is the adaptive headlight feature, with the headlights moving as the steering wheel is turned. My car doesn't do it, and when I try to turn the feature on, as described in the manual using the dash screen under "Settings > Vehicle> Lighting", the line to turn it on as shown in the manual, is not there. I have to wonder if some cars have it and others don't, which doesn't seem right as it is not mentioned as an option anywhere I seen so it would seem to be standard. Every time they show the lights moving in the TV commercial with the hawk, my wife asks me why ours doesn't do that.

Ghost- Check your Window Sticker - it should be listed close to the top on the left under Standard Equipment. I don't have that choice under the dash settings either but it's listed under standard equipment on my window sticker. I'm going to call the Accessories Manager at the dealership but I suspect Lincoln may have just eliminated our choice to turn them on or off. Not sure why anyone would want to turn them off. Will let you know what I learn from him.

I'm also puzzled by why daytime running lights are not standard!! Although on long trips I'd rather just run my head lights since daytime running lights don't have tail lights.

While checking out my message center, I noticed the adaptive head lights could not be changed. I do remember one could select auto high beam. I did not observe last night if they were working correctly. I didn't notice any changing of the lights from high to low beam nor did I notice them following curves.I do understand Adaptive headlights are supposed to work when the light switch is set to automatic.

I did find a build problem with Lincoln Touch. When equipped with the navigation package ,Navigation is supposed to be one of the 4 selections in the message center. If no navigation package, Compass is supposed to appear. I presently have Entertainment, Compass and Phone. I should have Entertainment, Climate, Phone and Navigation. My salesman has been informed of the problem and is pursuing the correction. He had also noticed the Compass symbol yesterday, but didn't say anything. Guess Quality Control needs someone to check Quality Control.

Chelsea at LCS reached out to me today .... Apparently my car is 14 miles away from my dealership and will be ready for me to pickup on Monday night! :-) John

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous.

Well, that is even more painful.

Congrats. I hope to see pictures of yours as well.

Just did an an Adaptive Light test to determine if lights were moving right and left. Be sure you have your light switch set on Auto. When it is dark outside, face your car so the lights can be shining on a still object, i.e. garage door or other solid object. Start your car and observe the movement of your lights. Mine moved right than back to center again. According to a card I received with my car, the lights do not actually adapt to the steering unless the car is moving at least 3 mph. There will be a 2 to 5 second delay for the system to operate when the vehicle is driven, Let me know your results.

I went out last night and tried all combinations.....high beam, low beam, automatic with both high and low, sitting still, moving at various speeds, etc. No matter how I did it, the headlight beams did not move.

Dedonut, it sounds like you are saying yours do move, am I right? I do have them listed as standard equipment on my window sticker, but if those headlights move, I sure haven't figured out how to do it yet.......what a coincidence, the Lincoln ad showing the Hawk with the 'night vision goggles' is playing on my TV right now.
