alpinedaddy
Has anyone else noticed paint chipping off of where the bumpers meet the fender panels? All four locations on mine have large chips. Could this be because they put the bumpers on too tight or uneven? Will it be covered under warranty? Very frustrated seeing I only have 6000 miles on the car and this is about the 10th issue. Thanks,
fordtech1
I have seen this before. Not necessarily on fusions. It should be covered no problem. If your dealer is on digital imaging, they will have to take pictures and submit them. Then after approval you will get scheduled for body shop. Dave-S
Is the paint coming off the bumper cover or the fender panels (or both)? I would think this would be covered by warranty but it would be nice to know why it is happening to begin with.
hybridbear
Please let us know what happens. Other users have had this issue, but they've always had it repaired right at the time of delivery, not months later.
Hybrider
My 2014 Fusion Hybrid came from the factory with a similar defect to what the OP posted in the first photo above, where the right rear fender meets the bumper panel. It looked like there was a small paint blob drip-type of bump at that point, and then that dried paint bump got pinched when the two panels were cinched together, causing the paint blob to get squeezed out and eventually peel off. Since I have had some occasional bad experiences with the quality of body shop work in the past, I opted to just spring for the color-coordinated touch-up paint from the dealer to cover the tiny black spot where the primer was showing through after the paint blob had peeled off. That was enough to make the spot of paint damage not so noticeable for me.
alpinedaddy
Both the bumper and fender areas have it chipping off. I'll be out of town for a while so I have an appointment early Jan. Hate that that is the soonest I can get it in. But I will update this post once I get the answer.
Dave-S
I wonder how widespread this issue is and what is causing it?
alpinedaddy
Dave-S, Seems like it might be pretty common. I stopped by a dealer the other day that had 4 2014 titanium's on their lot. 2 of them already had a couple spots that had chips in the same location as mine. Randylahey
It is common, i have this issue as well. Dealer said to bring it back as i brought it up quickly after an oil change. I also did see it on some new cars on the lot.
